View Full Details of BroadlandsBroadlands is outstanding in all aspects. A beautiful setting, warm, caring team who go to extreme lengths to provide daily entertainment and close attention without a feeling of control, excellent meals in a hotel-like setting. My mother feels very much at home and well looked after. As I live abroad, it is such a relief to know she is content and settled and, as she herself says, couldn´t be in a better, happier place. So many thanks to the Broadland team.
Our dad died recently at Broadlands at the age of 106. Initially, he went to Broadlands for a two-week respite period but it was so successful that he decided to stay and it wasn't long until he began to refer to it as "home". He had two very contented years there and it made for a very happy last chapter to his long life. He always spoke so highly of all the staff and said he felt looked after with what felt like love. The house is very comfortable and well-maintained and the garden leading down to the Broads is really beautiful. There are activities twice a day as well as trips and visits from various entertainers and others from the local community. Mealtimes feel almost restaurant-like with high-standard, home-cooked food. All the staff were warm and welcoming and there was a lot of laughter and fun. There was always someone to talk to and something going on. We felt able to trust staff to care for Dad and communication with us was excellent. We highly recommend Broadlands.
I have just spent a month here after a stay in hospital. I can't praise Broadlands enough. The staff are kind and caring, from the cleaners to the kitchen staff and everyone in between. The food is excellent and well-cooked. The grounds are amazing and so well cared for. All in all 100% satisfied.
This review is based on my most positive impressions of Broadlands residential care home in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, and those expressed to me by my Mother. The ambience and environment of Broadlands are one of a well-kept family home. The Edwardian house is set in well-manicured gardens with spectacular views over Oulton Broad. All efforts have been made to create a comfortable and homely atmosphere and provision for a deep sense of community and caring support, above and beyond what might be expected. The professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness of the staff combine to offer a safe and loving space for my mother and her fellow residents. As importantly, regular activities have been designed to enhance residents' physical, and mental health and their quality of life. In summary, I cannot praise Broadlands and its staff highly enough. Thank you, Broadlands!
Everything is outstanding!
My uncle is in this wonderful care home and is so happy there, you can't get better looked after! Excellent food, treatment, care, everyone is so lovely always with a smile and the carers treat everyone with dignity and respect as well as visitors, would recommend this care home to everyone, everything is kept immaculately clean and always smells so lovely, which is so nice, the whole place is like staying in a first-class hotel!
We couldn't have found a better home for Mum. They truly deserve their outstanding rating. Everyone goes the extra mile, and all the staff are amazing!
Mum is very happy at Broadlands, looks on it as her home. Staff always friendly and caring, goes that extra mile. Place is always spotless and smells fresh, gardens are a pleasure and outlook outstanding. Mum is treated with respect and dignity. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you to everyone involved.
I was welcomed into the home by friendly staff. The home is situated in an ideal, beautiful location. It is kept clean and tidy. The staff obviously care a great deal for the clients which was apparent with their relationships I experienced, e.g. chatting with a lady in the day room and the lady who accompanied me to my mother's room, updated me on her overall condition with recent changes. The room is made very personal to my mum. She had plenty to drink and a printed menu for the day. Treat well. Just had to sign in and walk through the door, could have slipped through.
My family can never thank the staff enough for the kindness and support you gave to my dad the past year and particularly the past few weeks. Not only the high dependency staff who delivered outstanding care but the whole team, including activity coordinators, admin staff, kitchen staff, laundry staff, cleaners and grounds team, who always went the extra mile and treated both my dad and us with the greatest respect and dignity. We are so grateful his final time here was in such a comfortable and caring setting.
My mother has now been a Broadlands resident for 6 years and the care she has received there, both physical and emotional, has consistently been of the highest standard. The staff were aware when it was Mum’s 90th birthday and really helped to make it a special day for her. Broadlands provided the family with a room for a celebration and also a lovely birthday tea. Mum is always remarking on how kind the staff are. Recently, I think as part of a mental health initiative, one of the carers has been regularly taking Mum to worship at the church she used to attend - and this has even been on her day off. I think this reflects just how caring the ethos is at Broadlands.
My mum has just had her second respite stay at Broadlands after coming out of hospital. I cannot thank the staff enough for her excellent care and giving me peace of mind. Every single member of staff was friendly, caring and cheerful. My mum was treated with so much care and dignity and this was extended to family members when visiting. The premises and gardens are stunning, Mum loved sitting in the lounge and enjoying the views across the broads, that's when she wasn't joining in with the varied daily activities and the friendly company. The kitchen staff also deserve a mention, such a choice every day and catering to even fussy eaters! My mum came out of hospital feeling very frail and quite distressed by her hospitalisation, but thanks to the wonderful caring team at Broadlands, she is now much more like my old mum again and feels ready to return home, but will definitely come back again if she needs to.
I have just visited my uncle (97) for the second time. He has been at Broadlands Care Home for a couple of months after a very sad, sudden bereavement. Having worked in the training of community health and care staff, I have visited many care homes and have also contributed to inspections. I have seen good and bad but I know that it is all down to the culture of a staff team and the care ethics instilled in the staff. My uncle has told me how very well he is cared for and he 'feels safe'. Having been very upset initially, he now feels that he is better off at Broadlands, " because there is always somebody to talk with". Busy staff make time to build relationships with people. From observation, there is mutual respect, loyalty and a very gentle sense of humour with much laughter and banter. The staff do not obviously 'manage' people, they quietly observe what is needed and get professional support in to help people to maintain some independence. The Broadlands team deserves that 'Outstanding' rating.
Dad was naturally concerned to move into residential care, but soon settled into Broadlands. Indeed, after a hospital stay, it was heartening to see how relieved and happy he was to return back home. Beautiful location and gardens and always treated with dignity and respect. Dad was made to feel at home and developed a lovely relationship with the staff. We remain very grateful for the care he received.
This really is a true care home. All the staff care about the residents. My late mum said, "They do everything here," and they did. If any staff saw something that needed doing, they just did it. We were kept well informed about mum and were always made to feel welcome when visiting. We had meals with mum, too. Mum enjoyed the activities and did as much as she could. In this care home we knew that if mum needed anything at all, she would be well looked after. We wish she could have been here longer as she felt safe and secure and enjoyed everything about Broadlands. Should you need a care home, this is the one to go to, without a doubt. Thank you to everyone for looking after mum so well.
We have always found the staff very caring and incredibly helpful. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming and the surroundings and gardens, very well looked after, producing a peaceful environment. Always a good variety of inhouse activities for the residents to take part in, should they wish. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of the staff. Thank you!
Everyone working at Broadlands, has shown my mother the utmost care, respect, friendship and kindness over the past three years and welcomed family members with happy smiles and friendship, whenever we visit.
After a very bad experience with another care home, I managed to get my mum a place with Broadlands. Mum came to them, as an angry, slightly broken lady, from her previous experience. They assured me, they would get her spirit back and that’s exactly what they did. Within two weeks, Mum was settled and happy. It was wonderful to see. I was so impressed at the constant evaluation of Mum's needs and care, even the small things, like looking at how her slippers supported her feet and suggesting what would be better for her. My mum can be a tricky character, however, they embraced that and encouraged her to enjoy herself and join in, making her laugh, and showing her love. After spending time there now that Covid restrictions allow, I truly see what a remarkable place this is. The interaction of the care staff, not only with my mum but other residents, is wonderful. This is a place full of devoted, professional people and the love and care is there for all to see. A very grateful son, here.
It was Mum's 89th birthday. Eighty family members gathered together in a room provided to celebrate with her. This was the first time we were able to all be together with her for almost two years due to covid. The staff were brilliant. They made sure Mum looked her best, dressing her up and doing her hair. They were keen to look after us too, making sure we had everything we needed and making drinks for us. Mum always loved having her family around her and this made her day very special for her. A good time was had by all. Thank you so much.
My relative has been in Broadlands for a year now. Broadlands have transformed her life. She was terribly frail and was struggling with her memory, forgetting if she had eaten or had a drink and was very underweight. She is now a picture of health, has put on weight and enjoying every day of her life. We are all amazed at how different she is and it's all down to Broadlands, wonderful care to attention. Nothing is too much trouble. We all appreciate everything that Broadlands do for her, especially so through this pandemic, keeping everyone updated. Everywhere is beautifully clean and members of staff are extremely polite.
