View Full Details of The Knells Country HouseThe care is excellent, the carers are all very compassionate and understanding of our mother's needs and personality, treating her with dignity and respect. They always have a ready smile and are upbeat which helps to lift her spirits. The manager and all the staff are very warm and welcoming. The handyman and cleaner who pop in to say hello and maybe share a joke perks her up. The food which she really enjoys is excellent both in quality and preparation. We cannot fault the care she is receiving in this lovely, warm, safe and friendly environment.
My father and mother were in The Knells together for two years and were very happy there. Then my mother died, so my father has been there now for seven years. He is treated with love and dignity by all the staff. He loves the lasses in return. He is now in 101st year, because he is so well looked after. All his needs are catered for. The food is good. He can have as much as he wants. He looks extremely well.
There always seems to be staff and managers leaving after a short time, this causes instability among residents as just as they learn to trust a staff member, then they leave. The current staff are excellent I may add.
I have visited a resident, at her family's request, for several years and have always been impressed by the staff's warmth of welcome. The Knells Country House is one of the most caring and understanding of residents' needs and abilities being fully met. Staff are hard-working, professional and genuinely caring, essentially they are kind.
I’m very pleased with the care my mother is receiving, I feel she is treated with respect, kindness and good humour from all involved. She tells me that everyone is very kind and she feels loved. Whenever I need to contact the home by phone, whoever the staff member I speak to is usually up to date with the issue, or if not, immediately checks with someone who is - there seems to be a very good system in place to share information with all staff. I feel I can contact the home at any time.
Great levels of care and consideration for my relative throughout. COVID and lockdowns have been draining on all concerned, but the Knells is coming out at the other side with activities on the up and volunteers coming in again. A wonderful Jubilee garden party showed how we are all able to gather together again; one of many social occasions to come, I hope. Major congratulations to the kitchen staff for their superb food this Sunday.
As this is mainly a dementia care home it feels like all residents are treated the same. i.e. when a resident asks for a coffee it takes ages to arrive or does not arrive. Staff can be a bit abrupt sometimes.
The standard of care is excellent. All staff treat residents with dignity and compassion. Very good ethos in the home. Some lack of consistency re requirements of visitors during the pandemic, eg sometimes asked to wear apron, gloves and mask, other times just mask. Always asked to provide the result of the lateral flow test, which is reassuring. Considering extreme pressure on staff during the pandemic, I am very grateful for the consistently good care my mother receives.
Activities have been poor during the pandemic. Satisfactory otherwise, but room for improvement.
