View Full Details of Barchester Sutton Grange Care HomeMum stayed at sutton grange for respite following a hospital stay, she found it to be very comfortable, the staff are lovely, it is a very good. Home from home! Great food choices, plenty of activities to get involved in, mum had fun.
We spent a lot of time looking for a nursing home for my husband, who has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and it just felt right in Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home. We visited another Barchester home which was also great but the wrong level for us. Sutton Grange is purpose-built so feels really spacious, both in the communal areas and in the private areas. The rooms are en suite and a really good size. The staff are brilliant, so friendly and caring, both with the family and with the residents, and are really responsive. The food seems to be lovely, they serve it around dining tables with others and staff members at the tables. My husband is eating better than for years. The activities are numerous and varied and my husband seems to take part, I have photos of him singing, dancing, making mince pies. My only reservation is the same as I hear about every home and that's clothing, he is often in someone else's clothes but as the care is so fabulous, I'm just getting used to the wrong clothes.
After an illness, Dad was left in a frail state and was happy to go into residential care. From the start, staff were caring and thoughtful, cheerful and punctilious in looking after Dad. Dad's room is very pleasant and sunny. Cleanliness is very good, as is the decor. The dining room, food, table layout are of hotel standard. Dad is very complimentary about the food, staff... all of it. The unit is small (twenty residents) which allows individual care. This is, by far, the best home I visited and is excellent value.
My parents recently stayed for a week's respite at Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home. My father struggles with mobility and my mother has dementia. The staff were wonderful and provided the care my parents needed. The care home is well-maintained and has a lovely garden. I would definitely recommend Sutton Grange to anyone needing support and care in their later years.
My dad was cared for at Sutton Grange in the last few weeks of his life. He really loved the gardens and the wonderful outlook from his room. He particularly enjoyed sitting out in the garden on the day the alpacas came to visit. All the staff at Sutton Grange are lovely, and Dad was really appreciative of the care and kindness he received from everyone who looked after him. Family and friends are always made to feel very welcome, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the catering is very good. We all enjoyed visiting Dad at Sutton Grange and would like to thank everyone for making Dad feel so safe, comfortable and well cared for. You all do an amazing job!
Both my parents are being cared for at Sutton Grange in different areas because their needs differ. Overall we as a family are delighted with their care and can see that they both have settled well and are benefiting from the care and attention given to them. Staff are always warm and welcoming. We feel that communication could be improved between senior carers and family and that there seems to be a lack of continuity of carer at times. Catering is good, but the menu seems repetitive and there is a lack of fresh fruit available. Staff numbers I understand make it difficult to help residents who are bed-bound eat, but time with them at meal times means a lot and helps with mood and wellbeing. We would like to thank all staff and understand some of the challenges they face on a daily basis. Seasons greetings to everyone.
Very pleased with the care my husband receives, the cleanliness of the home, the good meals that he is given, and also the good entertainment. Each resident is catered for their own personality and needs.
In March 2024, my mum, who has dementia, will have been living at Sutton Grange for four years. Since then, her condition has, of course, progressed, and the nature of the care provided has evolved as appropriate. I remain very impressed at the quality of the care and the regular reviews when I am able to discuss my mum's health, needs and care plan. The staff are absolutely lovely, every time I visit. Thanks to everyone at Sutton Grange for everything you do.
My father was a resident at Sutton Grange Care Home for just over six months, from March 2023 to his death in September 2023. He enjoyed the sunny aspect of the home, the garden, the resident dog, the food and all the activities which seemed, to me, to happen almost daily, from themed tea parties to quizzes to mini-lectures. Most of all, he was extremely happy with the staff who looked after him with care and respect. They made the last few months of his life much more bearable, and in particular, he was appreciative of one member of staff, the activities coordinator and the handyman. We felt welcome to visit at any time and enjoyed a good chat with the staff and a cup of tea. The administration and paying his fees was very straightforward. We are deeply grateful to everyone there for what they did for him and know that it made a difference in his final months.
My husband was transferred to Sutton Grange Care Home in October after 6 months in the hospital because of his dementia. He settled in well straight away and was much happier than he had been in the hospital. Over the last 3 months, his physical health has improved and he is much calmer and more lucid than previously. He has regained the weight that he had lost in the hospital and joins in with organised activities of which there are many. I am so thankful for the care he receives from all the staff. They are all compassionate and respectful and I have nothing but the highest praise for them and the management.
I currently have both my mum and dad at Sutton Grange care home. They are both settled and receive a good level of care. I find the home friendly with good staff of a very caring nature. The Manager is very approachable and knowledgeable about the needs of both my parents.
I didn't want to put my husband in a care home, but after caring for him for three years with dementia I was ready for a rest. l tried two care homes but all he wanted was to come home, in fact, he managed to get out of the first one and was running into the road. l only wanted two weeks rest so l tried another one and after two days he fell and broke his hip, after his time in hospital. l found Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home, what a difference! He settled very quickly and didn't even ask to come home. It was like going into a hotel, the staff couldn't do enough for us. l can recommend this care home to anyone. Thank you to all the staff and the management for their care and attention to my husband.
I consider Sutton Grange to be very well led by an excellent role model the general manager. The team of managers, nursing personnel, carers, chefs, administrators, housekeeping and activity team are all very professional and fully engaged in their roles and duties. My mother stayed only for a short time at the end of her life and she was very well nursed and cared for considering numerous challenging conditions. A nursing and care home is very well recommended.
I got to visit my brother-in-law almost every day with my sister (my twin). Sutton Grange is a pleasure to visit; everyone has a smile. I have never heard a raised voice. The manager and his team work so hard, all the residents seem so happy. After visiting, we leave with the knowledge that he is in good hands. Thank you all for your kindness.
Sutton Grange is an amazing home. The manager and his team are fantastic. My husband is looked after with such care and kindness and with dignity. He has a lovely room with all his pictures of his family around him which makes it his home and makes him happy. He is warm, cosy and very comfortable. The food is delicious! A great place.
My husband was transferred to Sutton Grange from hospital. The care and attention he has received in the short time he was there were fantastic. He is eating and walking now.
I've nothing but praise for the staff. We are so happy with how Dad is being cared for. They have taken the trouble to get to know him and treat him not just with dignity but with love and compassion. It's also a lovely environment and doesn't feel like an institutionalised setting. Keep up the great work everyone!
We are so relieved to have found Sutton Grange for our wonderful Dad who suffers with advanced Alzheimer's. The decision to move Dad into a home was immeasurably hard although ultimately taken out of our hands following a stay in hospital in August. As soon as we met the Manager and Deputy Manager and saw Sutton Grange we could feel that there was something very different and special about the place and our instinct has proved absolutely right. Every member of the team shows care, empathy, patience and a huge warmth for Dad. He is looked after gently, with dignity and a smile - he is very much treated as a person (just one who happens to have lots of needs) rather than a problem. Also, the empathy that has been shown to us on Dad's "not so good" days when we have been upset has been incredible - there is always time to make a cup of tea and ensure we are OK. Dad's room looks homely and warm which is such a comfort and it is never too much trouble to put another photo at mum's request!
I have no hesitation whats so ever in recommending Sutton Grange Care Home to anyone thinking of placing relatives there. My mother is currently a full-time resident and has been for nearly two years, and I could not ask for anything more from ALL the staff, they are a dedicated team and have the residents best interests at heart, the care and attention they pay the residents is second to none, even in these uncertain times of the Covid pandemic they have remained focused on the job they have to do and keeping the residents safe. Earlier this year I lost my father who had Dementia & Alzheimers, his care was unbelievable, he had been a resident in Sutton Grange for just over four years, so anyone considering residential care please consider Sutton Grange Care Home, you will not be disappointed.
My Aunty has been in Sutton Grange a year in February. Since then she has come on in leaps and bounds with the help of all the staff and other residents. She has made friends with a number of residents and loves the different range of activities on offer which, with the encouragement from the staff, helps her to engage. The food is always lovely and there is a good choice on offer for the residents. Thanks to all the staff at Sutton Grange for helping my Aunty come back from a very dark time in her life and start enjoying her life more in the autumn of her years.
