View Full Details of Barchester Forest Care HomeMy sister has been a resident since April 2023 the staff all appear to be really caring and show their love for the residents which is so important to me. As a black resident staff have taken the time to learn how to look after her hair by cornrowing it instead of cutting her hair. Care homes need to be able to cater for the culture of the resident. My sister would not cut her own hair, she likes it plaited, so this is good. Very happy with the activity co-ordinator. Being sat in their room doing nothing with only their thoughts is not good, they need their minds stimulated. Each resident have different personalities and person centred care is important and should be encouraged not only on paper. My sister loves to sing and this is being encouraged by the co-ordinator by taking her out to church to worship and do something she enjoys. I am looking forward to seeing more involvement outside of the care home and the activities planned catered for each individual need. Thank you.
Having mum so far away it's reassuring to know that she is looked after so well and is safe and happy. The home is clean, spacious, friendly and helpful staff. Food is varied and of good quality and there are nice private areas in which to visit. The day trips and activities are enjoyed by all the residents
My husband has been in this care home for just over 2 months and I am so happy with how he Is being cared for. The staff are very friendly and have helped my husband settle in well. The food is really nice and the care home is always clean.
Mum continues to receive all the care and support she needs and her daily hygiene routine has improved. The staff team are friendly, knowledgeable, caring and approachable. Any concerns or issues are generally resolved satisfactorily and in a timely manner. Occasionally incidents arising have been reported to me a few days after the event rather than on the day. Mum does require a soft food diet and to be supervised during meal times, also requires encouragement to eat and drink adequately. Although mum now prefers to stay in her room, the new activity coordinator is very proactive and has organised lots of activities, events and outings for the residents since being in post.
Most of the staff caring and look after my dad well. He enjoys the food there and loves cuddles from staff. Disappointed that there are no regular activities or residents not taken out very often as it's been a very long time without activity coordinators. Also, no consistent hairdresser for weeks and weeks on end. Residents like to look nice and be pampered. Minibus is there, please take out in it if possible.
Management and staff commitment continues to be of the highest standard when dealing with my father's constant daily and weekly care needs (and all other residents through my observations). All care staff, nurses and management are always polite, friendly and approachable (even when the pressure is on). They constantly demonstrate a caring and compassionate dedication to their work and it's much appreciated by myself, and gives me the reassurance that my father is being looked after and cared for .
My dad is in Barchester Forest Care Home, this is the best nursing home Dad has lived in. All the carers are friendly and helpful to us, as a family. My dad gets the best care at this home, the carers love Dad, even when he has his agitated episodes, they are very understanding and know Dad is loving too and it's his dementia. The food always looks lovely and there is always a good variety. Dad often has second helpings. We are always offered drinks and food when we visit Dad which is so nice. I always feel at ease when I visit and chat to the carers too. You all do an amazing job. Thank you so much for caring for my dad.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I visited Barchester Forest Care home in August 2023 with my daughter-in-law, the intention being to move my son from the awful place where he had been a resident since December 2022. We were interviewed by a very understanding assistant manager. We were shown around the very spacious building, extremely clean and tidy. No rooms available at that time but within three weeks a room became available. The food is very good, the staff are considerate and understanding, the manager is excellent. Our family are very happy with the attention and care our loved family member receives. Communication between Forest Care and family is outstanding. Forest Care Home is a very homely place.
Excellent and professional staff who really allow my wife to feel at home here without pressuring her to do things she’s not comfortable with. Very accommodating and the staff have been brilliant before and during the time my wife has been there. They also take the family’s feelings into consideration and the manager is always more than happy to chat about your feelings and concerns. Excellent food too which my wife can eat in her room if she doesn’t want company.
My nanna was in a different residential home for 8 months which unfortunately caused extreme distress to my nanna and our family. After doing extensive research for a nursing home, I came across Forest Care Home and thankfully my nanna moved there in February of this year. We are eternally grateful for all of the staff - it is very clear how much everybody loves and cares for my wonderful nanna. They truly treat her like one of their family members, as opposed to a resident. When we turn up unannounced, we see the carers sitting with Nanna giving her hugs and kisses - which is heart-warming. She is now finally receiving the level of care she truly deserves. Putting a loved one in a care/nursing home is never easy but we can honestly say that Forest Care Home feels like home. We are a family who call almost daily and staff always answer the phone in a lovely manner and you never feel like you are bothering them. Thanks again, for the bottom our of hearts, we are so grateful. You are all angels.
I’m a regular volunteer at the care home and can honestly say that the entire team there are extremely professional and want to create the best environment to live in for the residents. I helped at the recent summer fair and what a fabulous day we all had, from the great entertainment, games, raffle and the yummy sweet cart. Watching the residents have another brilliant day was priceless.
Forest Care is a very pleasant place to live. The staff have a good sense of humour and work very hard. The food is excellent and we have good entertainment throughout the year.
Forest Care Home has many qualities. The staff are very welcoming and always keep us updated on mums health. We went to visit many care homes and none of them came close to the Forest Care Home standards. A lovely environment we know mum would be well looked after here.
As a former nurse, I have been really impressed with the manner in which my mum has been cared for, first on the hospital side, then on the care side. I have always found the staff helpful and willing to take time to talk, and they seem to have developed a very good understanding of my mum's needs in spite of her communication difficulties which demonstrates to me that they do try their absolute best to help the people they are caring for. Overall, I have no worries about leaving my mum in their very capable hands, and I know that if there are any problems, then they will be in touch and keep me up to date.
I feel most comfortable that my wife is being looked after in a good environment staffed by people who care.
I visit my husband weekly. I am greeted by the staff with a smile all staff are very cheerful and I note how they treat my husband. Mostly with an arm around him and so very kind. I leave him knowing he is in good hands. I can not find any fault regarding his care.
My mother has been a resident for a few months now. My mum has some really challenging and worrying behaviours. My mum has been in various homes and none have been able to help deal with the variety of needs my mum presents. In the short time mum has been here myself and father have felt love and care for the first time since my mum's diagnosis. The care that mum has received has been exceptional. The communication between the home and myself have been comprehensive. The difference here is that the staff are proactive in resolving issues, the staff have had to deal with violent behaviour from my mum and without exception, the care and love from each and every member of staff has been outstanding. Mum has a way to go, but with the help of the dedicated staff and their positive, proactive approach, myself and my family finally feel that my mum is safe, loved and cared for. This has a huge impact on us as a family as we know mum is safe. Thank you to each and every one of your staff.
My mother has lived at the Forest Care Home for three years now and I have never had reason for concern. I know she is safe and really well cared for. Communication is great and nothing is too much trouble for the team of carers who go above and beyond what is expected of them.
My dad has been really well cared for. We are kept informed of any changes whilst covid-19 is here and we've been able to keep in touch with my dad via phone and WhatsApp which meant a lot to his family. Staff have been excellent in caring for my dad. Excellent facilities, my dad has been on some outings i.e. pub lunches which my mum was invited to. Keep up the good work.
I find the staff extremely pleasant, friendly, and efficient, and look after my wife really well. Although it is difficult to communicate or understand her, I think it is clear she is happy at the home and that is down to the care and love she receives. Thank you so much.
