View Full Details of Cavell CourtMost of the carers are excellent but I have noticed that a few can be very lazy. I have noticed a few raised eyebrows at times and huffs and rolled eyes! The activities team are excellent - very kind + patient but I do get their probably not under so much pressure as the carers. Looking forward to hearing who the new management team will be and what changes, if any, they'll implement.
I contacted Cavell Court during December and an appointment was made for me to visit the home. I ascertained there was an available room for my sister in law who at that time was an in patient In hospital. I visited the home and met one staff member in particular who showed me around and offered a comprehensive guide to all the home had to offer. I was impressed with the bright, friendly atmosphere and although my sister in law would not be able to take part in any of the activities, it was warming to know there was so much on offer for those who could. I saw the menus covering a wide choice of food on offer, but it was explained that other suitable options would be on offer. Sister on law finally reached Cavell Court on Christmas Eve by direct transfer from the hospital. Sad to say, because of my sister in law's age and her existing ailments, she will not be able to fully enjoy all that is on offer.
Our father joined Cavell Court in July 2021. He was very confused and disoriented. The reception staff welcomed him into the home calmly and helped to allay his fears. He took a while to settle onto Patteson Suite but due to the kindness and care of the staff he became calmer and more content. The staff also cared for us as a family, keeping up fully updated on his health and general wellbeing. Sadly, our father died in January 2025. The staff showed kindness and compassion to us all. We will always be grateful to all staff at Cavell Court for their care and love shown to us all.
Mum and ourselves are delighted with life in Cavell Court. We were only remarking the other day that it has a homely feel crossed with a nice hotel. Her room is really nice and spacious, so visiting is comfortable although we tend to take a stroll to take advantage of the self service coffee shop. The staff who look after her are attentive and we couldn't be happier - a great balance of promoting independence but being there when needed. We're absolutely delighted with all aspects of mum's new home.
My wife was only with you for a few weeks but all your staff made her, and the family, feel welcome. You treated her with respect and great compassion at all times and generally made her stay as pleasant as possible. You all made the effort to get to know her.
My father stayed for a short respite period and we visited him regularly. His room was always clean and tidy and he was dressed and well presented. Staff were helpful when I asked queries. We appreciated the facilities and that we could take him for walks round the garden and make drinks etc. One staff member in particular was excellent - very kind and thoughtful and helped his granddaughter look at the guinea pigs.
Cavell Court is exceptional! My mother's move has been very smooth and she has settled in quickly. The whole Cavell Court team are a credit to the care sector.
I am really satisfied with the care and attention Mum receives. The staff are very friendly and support Mum with her daily needs.
My husband spent approximately 18 months here - where he was well looked after and formed lots of friendships with staff and other residents - and was very happy.
My mother has a lovely en-suite room overlooking the back gardens. She has made it home with bits of furniture and personal effects, even replacing the provided TV with her own. All her personal needs and care are met to a high standard. She is encouraged to enjoy her lifelong love of gardening and is often involved in the planning and displays. The entertainment team are exceptional. Each resident has been asked to provide a wish of what they would like to do or where they would like to go. My mother chose to go to a bingo hall in Norwich. Two members of staff organised it and took her for a day out. I went too and we all had a fabulous time. Having looked at several care homes, one of the reasons for choosing this one was its coffee area. It's a super place to meet friends and relatives where there is a coffee machine, freshly baked cakes, and daily newspapers. It's modern and feels more like a coffee shop.
My husband comes here for respite and is happy to come. He's been coming for two years. Twice each year. Staff are very friendly.
My Mum has been at Cavell Court for two months, and the difference in her is amazing. The care and good food have worked wonders. The staff are very helpful and nothing it too much trouble. Cavell Court was recommended to me by my sister-in-law and I am very happy that my Mum is there.
Mum was a resident for 2 and a half years until she passed away. During her last days, staff were caring, compassionate, and supportive. They supported and comforted me, they also answered any questions I had. I really appreciated all the staff visiting Mum, and telling me she would be missed by all. They all had a story to tell about her. From laundry, housekeeping, carers, lifestyle, and team leaders, you are the best and I will miss you all.
My Mmother was a resident in Cavell Court from March 2022 to when she passed away in December 2023. During that time, the staff in Cavell were very attentive and my mother was well looked after, respected and cared for. If an issue arose, it was always dealt with promptly and communicated back to me or my sister. There was always a feeling of being part of a community within Cavell, both for my mother as a resident and us as a family. In late November 2023 at the age of 93 my mother became unwell and we were offered palliative care by Cavell, which she received until passing away just before Christmas. This was obviously a difficult time but the care, attention and dignity which both my mother and us a family received from all of the staff at Cavell was exemplary and we will always be sincerely grateful for that.
Overall, disappointing. Floor staff welcoming, helpful and caring. Shame the same can't be said for the management. My aunt was very well looked after during a respite stay but the way the management dealt with our family was disgraceful. Increasing costs without warning. Asking for payment for services we hadn't asked for or discussed. Unsupportive while we looked for a permanent place for her to move to, they just wanted the money. Onwards and upwards to a new positive experience.
During my mother's stay in Cavell Court she was always treaded with unfailing care and kindness. The accommodation is of a very high standard so I always knew that she was warm and comfortable. The staff have always been cheerful and caring and whenever her medical needs changed medications/treatments were adjusted without delay. All in all, Cavell Court is a lovely home for anyone who can no longer enjoy their own home.
Since my mother-in-law came to Cavell Court, she has been treated with such kindness by the staff. Taking her out on little trips in the mini-bus. Looking out for her at all times. We knew she was being well looked after which gave us peace of mind. Thank you so much to all the staff for being so good to her.
Knowing that my mother with her oncoming dementia, and her mobility becoming limited was at some stage going to need to enter a care home, ringing around a few I came across Cavell Court, I spoke to the customer relations manager and was sold on Cavell Court from that first phone call. Over the next few months, I spoke many times to the home, then when Mum, in August 2021, had another fall, I felt now was the time. Mum entered Cavell Court for the first time in August 2021 (likewise me). The first thing I noticed was how spotlessly clean the place was, but being spotlessly clean doesn't make it a good care home. What did, over the next two and a half years until we sadly lost Mum in December 2023, was the way Mum was cared for, by all the wonderful staff, with nothing too much trouble, they treated Mum with nothing but respect and looked after her like she was their own. I'm no expert on care homes but if there's a better one, I'd like to know where. Everyone from all areas were brilliant.
Everything we experienced of Cavell Court was of a very high standard. This started with my initial contact with the customer relations manager, who was informative, efficient, friendly and welcoming. My mum found the care staff very kind and helpful. The food was excellent. The availability and variety of activities was greatly appreciated. The home was clean, the bedroom and en-suite bathroom were of high standard. The 'café' area was a great amenity. The only issue of (minor) annoyance was the difficulty getting through on the resident's number. I appreciate that staff were busy but Mum became rather anxious on one occasion when she could not get hold of us. Ordinarily Mum has her own mobile but on the week of her stay it was not functioning. I'm assuming most residents have their own phone and this generally isn't an issue.
Cavell Court has been everything we hoped and more for the care for my grandad. Every member of staff from the office staff, cleaning, maintenance, chefs, lifestyle and especially the amazing carers provide a five star service and nothing is too much trouble. They spend time, even when they are busy, to make residents feel at home and comfortable. Thank you for everything and I highly recommend Cavell Court to anyone looking for a care home. The staff really do care!
