View Full Details of Sherwood GrangeSherwood Grange Nursing home is a fantastic place, very caring to all its residents and manament are Brilliant, if I was to give it star's I woud give 5 stars. As my Wife is very happy there and settled in very nicely.
Thanks to the team at Sherwood Grange for making my Dad's Respite Care stay with them so smooth. This is the second time we have used this temporary service to give my mum a well-earned rest. It's been a really simple experience with lots of kind and attentive carers who make us all feel at ease and ensure the approach is tailored to us. We would really recommend this to anyone looking for short-term, high-quality care for an elderly loved one when the time comes.
My Mum came to Sherwood Grange for her second respite stay From December 2024 to January 2025. As before, the staff were very helpful when planning and getting ready for her arrival. The whole team were so friendly and welcoming, and the facilities are of the highest standard. Suffering with dementia, mum was anxious and scared. The Carers took the time to re-assure her , to make her feel safe and welcome. The environment and facilities are spotless, the fixtures and fittings are good quality. The menu is delicious, the food well-cooked and presented to restaurant standards. The activities are well thought out. But all this would count for nothing without the kindness and attentiveness of all the staff, from the Cleaners, to the Carers, Team Leaders, Reception and Customer Relations staff.
Mum was very tired after multiple hospital stays and being discharged prematurely. Her care team at home are excellent but the coming and going of multiple bodies had left her very weary. She needed some respite to get back her feeling of self worth. This is exactly what Sherwood Grange provided her with. Mum looks and feels rejuvenated after her stay. A super new hairstyle, the enjoyment of spending time with her fellow residents and generally feeling pampered. A wonderful stay!
I could not be more appreciative and thankful for the dignified and professional care my great friend received during his time at Sherwood Grange, from Jan '23 until Oct '24. Although maybe not always the easiest resident, he came to have great trust and affection for the wonderful Sherwood Grange team who truly valued and respected him as an individual. His medical needs were carefully monitored, and I always was informed of any changes to his situation. As his next of kin, it fell to me to search for the best care home where he could be happy, comfortable and well looked after, and the decision to choose Sherwood Grange has never once been regretted. Also, I will always be extremely grateful for the support I received from the management team, particularly if I was struggling in my dealings with Social Services. In my friend's final weeks and days, I could not have asked for anything more; he knew that he was safe and loved, and the support I also received at this time was exemplary.
I am writing this review in sadness at my father's recent passing (he almost made it to 99 years) but his friends and family are very glad and grateful that his final years were spent in Sherwood Grange. Moving out of one's own home into a retirement home is not an easy decision, but my father was very glad he did so. Sherwood Grange is a lovely, purpose-built 'home-from-home', clean, calm and welcoming, with great facilities and generously sized rooms, but it is above all the staff that make the difference. Without exception, there is a feeling that they know every resident as an individual and care about their well-being. A wholehearted recommendation!
Sherwood Grange has been a lifeline for me while my husband was needing care. He had heard great things about Sherwood and decided to go. For two years he could not speak highly enough of the staff and how the whole place was managed. Even the people right at the top of management knew him well and would have quality time together. It felt like a home away from home when I would visit and the people working there felt like family. My husband and I would get away for 2 week holidays every few months and the staff would always welcome us back with open arms. My husband passed away in May 2024, it has been and continues to be a tricky time for me, but knowing I still have the people at Sherwood and having their hugs and tears alongside me on the day meant the world. Thank you to everyone at Sherwood and to how the place is managed and just runs so smoothly.
From our first contact with the staff and visiting the home to look around this was the place my dad knew he could be happy! Showing us around Dad (and family)we were impressed with all the facilities, the bedrooms had everything he could want, natural sunlight, clean and with plenty of furniture to store personal things. From the moment he went in they made him feel safe, cared for and just as importantly included in the daily life, with all the other residents! So he made friends not just with other residents but with the staff as well, who are all amazing, so kind and patient. They encouraged him to join in on activities which we are both grateful for as I hated to think of him stuck in his room every day! He enjoyed them and looked forward to each day with great joy! When he needs respite in the future should he need/want to go into permanent care it's the place we all agree he should go.
My mother recently stayed at Sherwood Grange for a period of two weeks. My mum was very well cared for her during her short break. All staff were caring and respectful, and took time to make her feel welcome and at home. When I visited her during the period she was there she seemed calm and content. My mum, who suffers from dementia, has a love of music. The staff encouraged her to take part in all the musical activities that were on offer at the home, of which there were many. My father (her primary carer) was able to have two weeks of respite, knowing that she was in safe hands. If and when my mother needs permanent care, Sherwood Grange would definitely be our first choice of care home.
My mum recently moved into Sherwood Grange care home after a long stay in hospital. Sherwood Grange has a warm and cosy feel, and the staff have been brilliant at making my mum feel welcome and extremely well cared for. My mum has already made new friends and loves having coffee and cake with them or sitting in the sunny garden. Honestly, Sherwood Grange has not only given my mum a warm welcome but me peace of mind, knowing she is very happy.
Our family member was welcomed back like an old friend. He was well looked after and treated with dignity and respect, and all his requests were met where possible. He enjoyed his stay, especially at meal times and was in no hurry to leave.
Celebrating Mum’s 93rd Birthday with her at Sherwood Grange recently was the happiest occasion and such a good example of the wonderfully warm and caring atmosphere which is a signature of this home. Moving to Sherwood Grange has been in many ways a new beginning for our mother, who has delighted in the kindness and understanding of the staff, the excellent food and the varied activities on offer day-to-day. She has regained so much of herself since moving here and finds happiness in every day, thanks to the Sherwood Grange team.
We continue to be impressed by the high standards of care at Sherwood Grange. The staff are wonderfully kind and patient and do so much to engage and entertain the residents, even during the most trying of times. I feel reassured and comforted knowing that she is safe and cared for. Thank you.
The staff at Sherwood Grange were patient, caring and understanding as I dealt with an elderly step-parent in need of care for one month. I cannot fault a member of staff in particular, who kept in touch with me regularly for the entire month. I would recommend this care home for future respite stays. Thank you!
Sherwood Grange Care Home continues to be a safe, clean, calm, well managed and a fun place for my Mum to live. There are plenty of things to do but no pressure if it's not your thing. From trips to wineries, Christmas lights visits, news reviews, external entertainers, quizzes, the list is endless. The staff are kind and caring and go out of their way to welcome new residents.
The team at Sherwood Grange genuinely care. When their longstanding resident and my good friend became unwell and subsequently passed away in the hospital, the team couldn't do enough, reaching out to me to pass on their best wishes in her final days. They were a huge comfort to me as greater experts in this unique situation. My friend enjoyed her extended stay at Sherwood Grange and built strong relationships, helped by kind, patient members of staff. Thank you to everyone who looked after her. Recommended.
A friend of mine has recently gone to live at Sherwood, and I have been very impressed with the facilities and the people. They have some great efficiency in getting my friend in, great kindness in helping my friend to settle in, and great professionalism to me in keeping me informed every step of the way. Sherwood Grange is a wonderful facility and one to be trusted.
I have always found the staff to be polite, helpful and friendly. My client is very happy here, she seems to be well looked after. The staff arrange numerous activities and arrange trips to London. The staff seem to know all the residents and take an interest in them.
I've been here at Sherwood for nearly a year. I am extremely happy here. The staff are fantastic; they respect my independence and preferences. I was recommended here, and I would certainly recommend Sherwood to others.
I had a stroke in March 2022, and after spending 3 months in hospital was transferred to Sherwood Grange for further care. I have now been deemed fit enough to transfer to a self-contained flat in a dedicated retirement complex. After spending over 4 months at Sherwood, I have come to consider it as my home, and it will be quite a wrench to move on. The management and staff are all friendly and professional and genuinely care for the people they look after. There is a varied programme of entertainment provided by a dedicated team, which is tailored to the audience. On a personal level, I have been taught how to play Crib, and I have shown others how to play draughts. I have promised to keep in touch and visit back when I can, and if my health deteriorates any further, then Sherwood Grange will be my first choice to reside. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who looked after me.
