View Full Details of Primrose HouseMy father in law moved to the care home from Northern Ireland in the autumn. He was eager to return to to the area after being unwell, and wanting to be closer to his family. Everyone has made him very welcome and made the transition into a new environment very easy. All relevant and essential assessments have been made and his care is timely and appropriate. I can only give praise to all concerned with his care. I have found managers and carers very approachable, caring and professional and couldn't wish for a better place for my father in law to be.
Dad has been poorly prior to Christmas and has been bed bound for the last couple of weeks. The team at Primrose House have been great with Dad, even more attentive than usual. Can't praise them enough for the care they give, not only to Dad but also the family and keeping us informed on his condition and medical interventions. Thanks for all your care and attention you show Dad.
Staff at Primrose House are caring engage well with residents and always friendly to residents family. The Director came round with and read out Christmas cards. I am very happy with the care my dad has. Management are around not just in office which is great.
My mother had a serious stroke in may 2024 and was told she wasn't able to return home due to our current property not being suitable so my mother had to go to a care home. I asked to view a couple of care homes and when I asked to view Primrose House I was very optimistic as I've always had a bad experience with other care homes but primrose have been absolutely brilliant. When I came to view Primrose I was welcomed by the Manager she made me feel very welcome she showed me round the home, she showed me my mum's room she introduced me to all staff on shift I even got to see what sort of foods they serve in the care home and what the atmosphere is like during lunch time and I honestly couldn't be happier. She made me feel at ease with placing mum here and I don't regret my decision, she is amazing she adores all residents and really does have the home at heart. Nothing is never to much trouble the care staff are all amazing. Can't fault anyone. Thank you for everything you have done.
My Mother is generally happy and content at Primrose House despite developing blindness in the last year. She is confused sometimes due to her developing blindness and dementia. The staff have been excellent, preparing her for hospital appointments so I can pick her up, sometimes before 7 AM. I feel I have a good relationship with the senior nurse and can raise issues and discuss her support knowing they will be addressed. The home is more busy lately but Mother appears cared for and settled. The care staff go the extra mile to try and meet her needs and are very nice and friendly. Other ancillary staff are staff are really nice and helpful.
Our father required a care home urgently and was being cared for in N Ireland having had a stroke. Primrose House staff accepted him into the home even though they had a very poor handover and very little knowledge about his needs. We can not praise the staff enough, they are caring, and professional and have taken time to learn about our father and his needs. They have kept the family up to date with any areas of concern and have involved other professionals with further assessment of his needs. Our father is given everything you would hope for in a caring environment, the food is excellent and he thoroughly enjoys his meals, he is living in a bright clean home with a warm friendly atmosphere, and everyone is so welcoming. Placing a loved one in a care home comes with many mixed emotions but having seen how well he has settled and the level of care he is being delivered makes the experience so much easier. We would highly recommend Primrose House.
The staff are friendly, and kind and keep me informed of any problems. My resident is well looked after and happy. There are enjoyable activities that enrich their time in Primrose House. The rooms are very comfortable.
This year, our father turned 102. Primrose House organised an amazing afternoon birthday celebration for him with a good sing-along to a brass and Ukulele band. There were decorations and cakes galore. They even arranged for a representative from the mayor's office to attend. A special thanks to their entertainment lady for all her hard work. The fact our father reached 102 is a reflection on the care he receives at the home. The staff are very conscientious and caring and any medical needs are dealt with promptly and efficiently.mWe couldn't have hoped for a better care home for our dad. A big thank you to all the lovely staff at Primrose House.
Unexpectedly and reluctantly in June 2023 we had to find a home to look after Mum. This was unplanned but the Primrose team took time to get to know Mum, us as a family and helped us get used to this new normal. Two staff members in particular are exceptionally kind, listen to our thoughts and always follow through on actions. Primrose staff are lovely, the home is very clean, excellent food and we are always made to feel very welcome with smiley staff.
Dad is very happy at Primrose House, and we are very happy with the level of care he receives. The staff are very friendly and kind. It’s very clean. The food is good. He enjoyed going out on the minibus and the saxophone player that went to visit.
My general opinion is that Primrose House is a very well-run care home. The staff are my greatest strength; they are kind and caring to my mother, who has advanced dementia. Mum seems content and happy as far as is possible.
The staff are always super friendly and seem kind to my grandad. He’s happy there and we’re so grateful he is somewhere being so well looked after. The security at Primrose House seems great and the rooms are really nicely done.
Since my mum became a resident at Primrose House she has settled in really well. The staff are really friendly, they always have time to talk to her and also to let me know how she’s been. She’s enjoyed joining in with the activities, especially singing and has even felt comfortable enough to go on an outing. Mum has a lovely room surrounded with family photos, that they hung for me, to make sure there is always a familiar face around that she recognises. It’s always very clean and Mum always looks well dressed, this is something that she has always prided herself on, so it’s nice to see the staff have thought about this. The only negative thing I can say is that sometimes they are a little short staffed, usually this is with staff not turning up for work but everyone pulls together to make sure the residents are happy.
Well pleased with the level of care provided by the helpful friendly staff. They kindly took her in when further immediate care was required. My mother felt love and care from the staff on a personal level. Thank you.
My dad came to Primrose House from hospital in a very sorry state. The care he received here was excellent and he left a lot fitter than when he arrived. Staffing levels were always good. The home uses agency staff but this was never a problem as they were all experienced and they tended to Dad, never waited more than 5 minutes when he needed the bathroom. They would walk him wherever possible and he was never left sitting in a wheelchair. The food looked delicious and Dad was always kept nice and clean, as was his room. Some of the residents displayed challenging behaviour which the staff handled with understanding and compassion. Management was approachable and responsive to our family's concerns, It was unfortunate that the activities coordinator was on long-term sick leave and the outdoor space, which eventually be lovely, was a work in progress.
I have visited Primrose House a few times to see an elderly distant friend. On the specific occasion, it was a celebration of her 100th birthday and I represented an old long long-standing friend of the residence. They had known each other very well for over 60 years and worked together in education. The staff and management went to great lengths to make the afternoon celebration pleasurable and memorable. As a visitor, I was made very welcome. I was impressed by the level of care.
My mum arrived at Primrose House in June, the whole experience was faultless, the staff were amazing introducing themselves to myself and Mum. Making her feel safe and making sure she had everything she needed, it was very reassuring for me. Mum has been there nearly a month now she has settled in really well the staff are always near if she needs anything. Mum is always asked what she would like for breakfast, dinner and snacks. I am kept informed about Mum, I can highly recommend Primrose House, it is well run with excellent care for the residents in my eyes being their number one priority. The staff are professional, caring and smartly turned out, which is important and again reassures relatives.
We have been more than satisfied with the care given to my aunt. She has received individual care, aided to take part in activities and been included in trips with other residents. Visiting arrangements have been adapted to suit our needs. Communication with Primrose House has been good, emails being sent when appropriate and phone calls for more urgent issues. Staff have been able to arrange transport and carer when we have been unable to attend hospital appointments and feedback has been given. We would recommend this care home for the care shown to those with dementia as well as physical needs.
My mum has been in the home now for 5 years, she has been extremely well looked after and I am very pleased with the standard of care. The only thing that does bother me is the different staff coming and going we just get to know someone and the next time we go they have left.
Everyone at Primrose House are very helpful and kind. The food has greatly improved over the last few months. Although there has not been any entertainment for a very long time, I have been informed a new lady will be starting shortly to provide this.
