View Full Details of Grace Care CentreMy mother moved into Grace Care a year ago. Despite having difficulty speaking I know that she was very happy and content at the care home. All of the staff treated her with great kindness and respect at all times. The medical care she received was excellent. All of the services provided such as food, laundry and activities were excellent. The room was very comfortable and was always kept very clean by the staff. When mum fell ill at the end of January the care and kindness she received from all of the staff was excellent and it was a great comfort to me at a difficult time. Whenever I visited the staff were always extremely friendly and supportive and it made life easier for me to know she was being well looked after. Having had no contact with the care system previously it was a great relief and comfort to me that Grace Care looked after mum in such a kind and caring manner.
We moved Mum into here after being discharged from Southmead Hospital into an awful place last July. Since moving her from the horrendous place, Mum has come on in leaps and bounds. She is happy and healthy and so well cared for. The most important thing for me is that Mum is safe, loved and cared for; something that money cannot buy. The Staff are amazing, the facilities are fantastic. Food is freshly cooked and the menu choices are fantastic. Even though Mum has dementia, it's like she is staying in a top class hotel, but with personal care, her carers cannot do enough for her, everyone is so kind, honest, loyal and open. It is a breath of fresh air. I cannot pay enough tribute to all the staff and volunteers here.
When recently visiting my aunt at Grace Care Centre I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, compassionate and professional. The centre feels warm and inviting and is very clean, bright and spacious throughout. The meals offered in the comfortable, light and airy dining area are varied, nourishing and very tasty. My aunt is very happy at Grace Care Centre and enjoys many of the activities offered and and the communal gardens. Keep up the wonderful work that you are all doing here!
Myself and family attended Grace Care Centre's summer fete as part of a visit to our loved one, it was delightful to see so many residents, families and visitors having such a wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone made us feel very welcome and cared for. Thank you for all that you do.
I haven't seen my sister-in-law for a very long time, it was so lovely to be able to come for a visit, it was a very warm welcome and everyone took their time to make me feel at ease. I now visit as often as I can and really good meeting other extended family. The home is beautiful and very friendly, relaxed atmosphere even looking to book in myself.
We found Grace Care Centre very clean and welcoming and the food was excellent. The staff were very polite respectful and welcoming. The distribution of medicines was effective and very well organised. Our only criticism would be that when the resident we were visiting needed physical assistance to transfer to or from his wheelchair then the necessary assistance was not readily available which affected our plans on each occasion!
Grace Care Centre has a really special welcoming atmosphere, it is kind and friendly and calm. The staff are warm, engaging, helpful and professional. These qualities are inspired by outstanding leadership and are also reflected in the whole management team. The 2016 purpose-built premises are light, spacious and clean in every area, and this enhances the feeling of being embraced by this lovely home.
I am extremely happy living in St John's Home in Thornbury. I have everything I need in my room. Excellent bathroom. The staff are so kind to me. Excellent care. Everything I need and delicious meals. Activities are usually good in the week, but lacking at weekends.
My father was very poorly for six weeks, and we made the difficult decision for him to go for two weeks respite to give the family a break and to aid my dad's rehabilitation; the procedure to make a booking for me was very anxious/upsetting, but the staff made me feel a lot better about the decision and were on hand to answer any questions that I had. My father went in on one level of well-being and came out so much better, both mentally and physically, and I am so pleased with the decision we made as a family. The staff were obliging, friendly and caring. The food was excellent and has given Dad back his appetite and quest for life. Dad didn't partake in any activities, but I was witness to some and tried to encourage him to join in as they looked really good. His GP visited him the afternoon he returned back home and couldn't believe it was the same person from where Dad was at the beginning of December. Dad will be going in for respite again in June, and we have no problems with our decision.
My mum's health and well-being have been transformed by Grace Care Centre. Living in a place where she receives amazing care and good food, took her from a bad place to a new stage in her life where she can regularly be with family again. I would sum up Grace Care Centre as welcoming, kind, safe and caring.
My husband spent a week's respite here. We chose the home because it was clean, light and spacious and had a welcoming and calm atmosphere. My husband was well cared for, he was always content when I saw him. The staff were cheerful and caring and kept in touch. The food was freshly cooked and nourishing and dietary requirements were catered for.
Very pleased with my week's respite care. All of the staff were competent and nothing was any trouble. The catering deserves a special mention. The food was like a five-star hotel.
Despite all the challenges of Covid the staff managed to make Mum's move to Grace Care Centre go smoothly. Her initial respite stay of 3 weeks was extended to 5 weeks, as her permanent home had Covid and while initially reluctant to move to a care home, Mum ended by being very sad to leave. The kindness of the staff and attention to detail was exemplary.
I visited the Grace Care Centre to visit an elderly friend. The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. They showed real regard for my elderly friend and he, in turn, knew all their names. He is always full of praise for the care and kindness he receives.
Staff seem very considerate towards residents and are always polite to visitors. Management personnel are always ready to engage in conversation, while the receptionist is patient, helpful and always smiling, in spite of being kept incredibly busy! Residents look clean, happy and well cared for. If only staff had enough time to foster individual residents' particular interests prior to onset dementia (e.g. my friend spent her life playing the piano, singing and performing, so music helps her tremendously and lifts her mood), that would make the care excellent!
The staff are exceedingly pleasant and helpful.
My husband is in for three weeks of respite and we were very pleased with the care he received. He enjoyed the food and the activities (although limited due to Covid). He had to isolate in his room for one week on admission (Covid) but was extended to ten days as he was positive for Covid and I think that was a struggle for him. Looking forward to some daycare!
Grace Care Centre and all the staff there have gone 'above and beyond' to make mum's transition from home go well. She is exceptionally well taken care of with compassion and attention to detail at an exemplary level. Mum has significant needs and this is an exceptional facility.
My parents moved to Grace Care Centre in 2019, initially on respite. As the year progressed their needs changed and they decided to become permanent residents. My parents have been very happy at Grace supported by warm and caring staff who attended their needs as and when necessary. They always enjoyed communal activities pre-pandemic these included visiting musicians, dancers, wheelchair rugby activities, animals and more. The many in-house activities saw my mother becoming the champion quoit thrower. In later times they encouraged my father to make a balsa wood spitfire. As a family we could say so much more about Grace Care Centre but it would need more than 200 words. We feel part of the Grace family, we trust them to look after and nurture our loved ones and we thank them for all they do.
Home very well organised, very professional, caring and compassionate staff. Always cheerful and helpful.
