View Full Details of High MeadowsOur mother has been here for 2 months now and has settled gradually due to the excellent care and patience of the staff. An up to date purpose built facility, which is extremely clean. The staff are lovely. Very much like a top quality hotel.
High Meadows is always a welcoming environment. The staff are friendly and willing to help with any enquiries. I was impressed with the surroundings and the standard of care and cleanliness. I have visited a number of care homes in the past while looking for a residence for my mother and only regret that this home was not open then. I am not normally at the home when meals are served but my aunt has always enjoyed the food and loves the homemade cake with tea in the afternoon. The carers always greet her by name even though she no longer hears them. Relatives were kept informed and reassured during the recent coronavirus incident, masks, gloves and gowns were provided for any visitors and additional cleaning was carried out. There is a good variety of activities provided for residents each month.
My husband has been in High Meadows for what should have been a month's respite care that due to circumstances will be extended. He has several medical issues requiring a lot of care and this is given with kindness, patience and promptness. His room is very comfortable, and warm and with a small patio. I have put in a couple of bird feeders, now hoping the birds arrive soon! The only issue we sometimes have, and this is not a criticism, but there can be language issues, particularly for elderly people. It's not a case of staff's command of English, but their accents can sometimes be strong and can make it hard to communicate with especially if you're elderly and hard of hearing. A few times I've had a conversation with a new face to me, and I can see they can't understand what I'm saying but take an educated guess leading to the odd confusion. However we are all getting used to one another and when I leave my husband I am confident I am leaving him in safe, competent and kind hands. Thank you all.
Upstairs residents appear to be left out of entertainment schedule, most of the time. No stimulation. Sometimes they are unattended in lounge or bedroom whilst staff are in meetings. On one occasion someone needed personal care, but no staff on hand, even though resident was calling out. Staff very pleasant, and willing and caring, when around. Activities organiser post mostly vacant. Food menu has not much variety for those on soft food diet.
The family found the care given to my elderly Father was excellent. The staff genuinely took an interest and concern in my Fathers welfare and comfort. Knowing this meant the family did not have the constant worry about how my Father was doing on a day-to-day basis as the staff always kept us fully informed.
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care and service provided at High Meadows. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff are truly commendable. Everyone goes above and beyond to make my mom feel comfortable and supported, which creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I also want to highlight the new manager's approachability and responsiveness. It's evident that she is always eager to help and is committed to ensuring that both residents and their families feel heard and cared for. It's rare to find such a dedicated and compassionate team, and I'm genuinely grateful for everything they do. Their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and I'm so thankful for the peace of mind they provide.
My mother has been at High Meadows for nearly 8 months and has settled in very well. All the staff are very caring and attentive to her everyday needs. Any concerns or questions we have had have been dealt with in a timely, professional and caring manner. High Meadows is just the kind of care home we hoped for.
We are very happy with the excellent care and nursing needs for our dad, the staff are always polite and friendly and they show respect to our dad, especially when feeding him, they are so gentle with him. His room is always clean and when we visit he is always clean and cared for. As soon as you walk through the door in reception it's clean, airy and bright. The food our dad received is excellent to the point we could eat it, good portions. It was his 90th birthday 2 weeks ago and the staff came in with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday to him. They also decorated too. Honestly we have nothing but praise for the Home and the staff.
Our mother has been in the home for two months now. All staff I have had contact with have been very friendly and helpful. I also feel that the staff do their very best to accommodate the needs and wishes of our mother. Activities are held daily and seem appropriate. There have been some very good music events which our mother has really enjoyed. Other residents are also friendly and speak extremely positively about the home. I do find the rooms a little small but there is adequate space for clothing and personal belongings. The beds are very high quality with anti bedsore mattresses and the room is kept spotlessly clean. My mother also has a small private outside area which for her is lovely. She has a bird table and enjoys watching the activity. The food is also excellent, the meat is tender and there is good variety. Management is efficient and responsive. The cost of the home is a little on the high side, particularly in view of the smaller rooms, but otherwise we are extremely satisfied.
Dad arrived unexpectedly at High Meadows a little over three months ago now to a wonderfully warm welcome, since which time he has received nothing but kindness from everyone with whom he has had contact. However there is one significant area of concern which is that of communication. Whilst unfailingly kind, a number of staff have a poor understanding /command of spoken English which causes Dad considerable anxiety and stress as he is never quite sure whether or not he has been understood. Likewise having to seek clarification about what has just been communicated to him can sometimes leave him not just confused but at times feeling unsafe.
My main worry is the lack of management presence at weekends, with emails being left until Monday to be dealt with. The staff are very friendly and helpful and my father seems very happy at High Meadows. Long may it continue.
My mother went in to High Meadow in August 2024 after several falls and a diagnosis of Dementia and a brain tumour. The home is bright, airy and well-furnished. There is a television room and a dining room in each unit, for the residents that are mobile. Sadly my mother is bedbound. We have found the staff very kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. We have also found the same when dealing with management. I cannot single out one member of staff as it would not be fair, but suffice to say that they are all very attentive, patient and happy to chat to me and answer any questions I may have and are a hardworking dedicated team of professionals. Of course, nobody wants a parent to end up in care, but in some cases it is unavoidable. I am just happy and confident that my mum is in the best possible place and is being looked after very well.
Our almost 100 year old mother has been at High Meadows for about 3 months, before which she was living pretty independently in her own house. She made the decision to go into residential care as she felt she did not want "to have to think any longer". She has indeed earned the privilege of just having a rest and her wish has been realised. My sister and I in turn, could not have hoped for her to have more caring, professional and skilled staff or a more comfortable room (complete with small garden). Mum suffers a level of anxiety at times and the staff not only care very well for her physically, they are also understanding of her emotional needs. The overall ambiance at High Meadows is friendly, calm and reassuring and the communication between the home and family is excellent. We feel very lucky to have found High Meadows for mum and cannot recommend it highly enough!
I'm very very pleased with the overall care and support from care home staff, very helpful, disciplined, great care and support. Whenever I visit the care home I see smiley faces always ready to co-operate with me and answer any queries or questions I ask them. Blessing's.
I cannot praise management, nursing staff and indeed every staff member, in the office, the caterers and all the care givers enough. My mother was treated with such kindness, gentleness and respect throughout her stay. At her eventual passing, every aspect was handled with compassion and professionalism. This meant that a very emotional and distressing time for the family was eased as much as was humanly possible, for which we all express our sincere and heartfelt thanks.
From day one the care and compassion shown by all staff was exemplary. She was very warmly welcomed which was important given this was her first excursion into care and thereafter, she developed a perfect professional relationship with the staff who dealt with her personal needs. The management equally were fully consistent with her situation and always aware of her current position.
My brother and I cannot thank High Meadows enough for the care and compassion they have shown, not only to our parents but also to us while our parents were residents at the home. Mum and Dad were both admitted after recent stays in hospital, initially for respite. Mum came home after 8 weeks but Dad, who had greater nursing needs, stayed there. The staff were outstanding. Dad was treated with respect and dignity at all times. All staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The home is like a hotel, in fact, that's what we called it 'the respite hotel'. The rooms are clean, spacious and well-equipped. There are activities for residents in the morning and afternoon and the dining rooms are beautifully laid out. Dad spent 3 months at the home and sadly passed away at the end of October. All staff went above and beyond our expectations following Dad's death - their support for us as a family has been amazing, even in the days since his passing, this has continued.
High Meadows, the whole team provide excellent care for our dad and it is like a little family for all the residents with great understanding of the needs and care requirements for every resident.
High Meadows is a lovely home in every aspect. My friend is so happy and content there. When it was his birthday, a lovely get-together with all the other residents was organised which is lovely for all the other residents too. A very well-liked care home with all the residents cared for in all facilities.
Everything is excellent except for the food which is deteriorating, not as good as it was when I first came. Everything else is very good.
