View Full Details of The Goldbridge Care HomeMy mother is very happy at the Goldbridge Care Home. The management and staff are incredibly, kind, caring and thoughtful. They go over and above to ensure she has the best life she can. Her visitors have always received a warm welcome and her dog is allowed to visit her too. On her big birthday the staff decorated her room organised a special party. It was amazing, she had a wonderful time. The home has a very pretty garden with lots of plants, seating and fairy lights. Residents are encouraged to use the outdoor space. It is a lovely place for residents to socialise. The activities team are absolutely fantastic. They arrange many different activities and events to cater for a wide range of people with different interests. Where possible residents are given the opportunity to continue with their hobbies e.g. playing the keyboard, knitting, quizzes, gardening, bingo, painting etc. Based on our experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Goldbridge Care Home.
My uncle received the most wonderful palliative care at The Goldbridge. The nursing team kept me fully informed of his care plan and the family are all very grateful to the team, from nurses and carers to admin and management. I don't think I could have chosen a more lovely environment for his final months.
My mother entered the home after being discharged from hospital for end of life care (four different cancers and a cracked femur) early in the year. For the short time she was there before passing away three weeks later, we witnessed significant failings in her care, in particular pain management. This did not just include my wife and I, but also relatives and friends visiting on different occasions. I had to personally intervene on two occasions to request hospice staff to visit her which resulted in basic medical interventions to her care. I have since asked the home for feedback on how many times their GP as the primary carer visited my mother and what interventions if any they prescribed. This was nearly 9 months ago and I have still not received an answer to my questions. My advice to anyone who has a dear one needing end of life care is to make every effort you can to admit them to a hospice where they can receive the proper palliative care they deserve.
From start to finish, the respite care my mother received was great. The staff were fantastic, particularly the manager.
Our mother was recently diagnosed with early dementia and we were very happy to find Goldbridge for her. She was initially reluctant to go but the staff were so caring, understanding and lovely that she very quickly settled happily into life at Goldbridge. We are so impressed with the personal touches which are so special. On her birthday, staff sang Happy Birthday to her (she joined enthusiastically in with the singing!) and had a cake for her with candles. A beautiful touch. She is really happy, feels very cared for and part of the community. The rooms are lovely, and when we come and visit with great-grandchildren there are beautiful sitting rooms dotted around with lots of room where she can receive us. Family, dogs and children are very welcome which is lovely! Excellent in every way.
My father has been in Goldbridge for 2 1/2 years. He is so well looked after by all the staff who are experienced and caring. They always involve us in his care plan and always have his best interests as their top priority. The facility is beautiful with lovely rooms and gardens as well as social areas. Activities take place most days.
The Goldbridge is exceptional in every way. My father has been there for almost 2 years and we are delighted with all aspects of the care he receives. The staff are wonderful and look after him so well. In particular, the management are amazing and they always manage to find the time to discuss his care and help in any way they can.
I was really impressed with the care and attention paid to my friend when she needed help. She was not made to feel bad and was treated with dignity. Also had a good experience with the reception team when I lost a lens from my glasses. They helped me to find the lens without making me feel stupid and they displayed real concern.
We went to the part held for the residents who had reached 100 years and over in including my mother. The party was a great success. and was well attended. The food. and the entertainment was really good. The staff worked really hard getting everyone into the room, (well done). My Mother enjoyed the attention and the music. Also the town Mayor was in attendance to see what a wonderful time everyone had.
We moved my mum to Sussex after 77 years in York which required a great deal of adjustment and patience from all involved. It became a trying experience for us all and there is no doubt that it was the experience and professionalism of the manager and her team that was the key to getting us to the other side. So happy to say that this past month my mum has been a woman reborn and is now exceeding her abilities from even before she was in care. We are so grateful and so glad that we chose Goldbridge.
My mother-in-law has been living at The Goldbridge for the past 19 months and I can honestly say we have not had one complaint. The staff not only look after residents like family, but they also care about us (the family) too! As time has gone, my mum-in-law's needs have changed and the nurses/carers are always one step ahead to make sure she is comfortable. The office staff are just as fabulous! Recently we requested to change room and not only did they go out of their way to accommodate us, as there was no spare room available, on the day of the move everyone without exception got involved to move everything across quickly and effortlessly. The manager is always present and hands-on within the home and still finds time to check on residents and family too. From one who was nervous of 'care homes’ I can honestly say we found ‘the best’. Thank you to you all. Your compassion is inspiring!
My mum was admitted to The Goldbridge Care Home for palliative care. The whole team were wonderful from the start. The home manager was so kind and caring during a very upsetting and challenging time for all. Her guidance and kindness gave me and my family reassurance. The whole team were amazing and supported Mum with care and dignity. I was treated with kindness and care and fully updated on care and meds. Her room was homely and so clean and welcoming. We were encouraged to bring in personal items and furniture which helped Mum feel better. Special thanks to the nursing team who cared for Mum with such attention and respect. Also special thanks to a member of staff and the housekeeping team who were so kind in keeping Mum's room so clean. Thanks to the catering team for supporting Mum with any special meal requests. Her time here gave her peace and dignity, which is something I will be forever grateful for.
When it was clear my husband needed to leave hospital but would need too much care to return home, we had to find and decide on a nursing home very quickly. As soon as we arrived at the car park, we felt this would be a suitable place. From the first moment we entered the building we felt we were in a welcoming place with caring staff. Sadly, the day before he was transferred from hospital, the doctors advised no further intervention was suitable and he would just receive comfort care. The hospital and nursing home worked together to make the transfer happen so he would not die in hospital. His room provided the perfect tranquillity for close family to spend quality time with him before he passed away peacefully the following day. All the nursing staff were so kind to him and to us and gave the support we needed. The management staff handled all necessary formalities with the utmost care and efficiency.
My father came into The Goldbridge for palliative care. From the moment I walked into The Goldbridge I knew it was the right place. I can honestly say I cannot find a single thing to fault the home. His care throughout his stay there was exemplary. The medical care headed by the home manager was superb and at all times, my father was treated not only with dignity and compassion but with remarkable kindness; they took the time to understand him and made him laugh and despite his somewhat eccentric demands we felt he was loved and treated with respect and we would like to thank all the medical team for all they did for him. This included his last 48 hours which were, I can only say special at such a difficult time. However it is not only the medical staff who go out of their way; everyone from the catering to the cleaning and general care staff are lovely, and attentive at all times however demanding the patient can be at times. I think it is a very special place.
My father was admitted to The Goldbridge in 2023. He has advanced dementia. He had previously been a resident in 3 residential homes. I can not recommend The Goldbridge highly enough. The focus on engaging residents in activities is exemplary. There are also many different rooms for residents to relax - music room, cinema room, and sitting room. For families, there is a private room that can be booked for meals with residents. Unfortunately due to my father's challenging behaviours, we had to move him to another care home more able to deal with his behaviour. However, that doesn't detract from my recommendation. I have visited 15-20 homes in the past 2-3 years and this stands at the top of the tree. I forgot to mention the staffing. From the manager through to nurses and carers, staff are extremely caring and have genuine time for residents. Particular call-out to the manager - leading a great team whilst also being "hands-on" too.
Mum has stayed a few times at The Goldbridge which gives her a sense of security and familiarity even with her Dementia. The rooms are modern in style with en-suite facilities and a TV for personal use. The staff are generally good in their care of the residents, mum doesn’t like to be alone so she is always out of her room in the lounge or taking part in the activities as she likes to keep busy. Mum always seems to enjoy her stays and comes home a lot more engaged.
One never knows what the quality a care home provides when someone close has to become a resident on the advice of a hospice. There is little time to assess but the initial assessment gave me optimism. My wife was admitted following a diagnosis of an incurable brain tumour after a brief period at home. The tumour meant that increasingly she behaved as a dementia patient with erratic behaviours to go with her illness. She was unable to see and her hearing became increasingly impaired. As a consequence, she was deprived of significant external stimulus. As a consequence, she was frequently very distressed and her default was to wish to return home. This resulted in her spending lengthy periods walking the corridors and towards the end gave rise to real concerns about her safety. At the beginning of her time in the home she retained her social abilities and her humour but as the illness progressed she became increasingly difficult to manage. Throughout she was treated by all who had contact with her with real care, concern, patience, affection, and dignity. At the end, she had need for further medication and the whole team from the manager to nursing staff were determined to ensure that her final days were both pain-free and calm. The manager appointed in mid-August was a breath of fresh air. She displayed not only professionalism and a drive to improve the home but displayed a determination to ensure that my wife got the best possible care but was also sympathetic to and supportive of both myself and our daughters.
Excellent and caring staff, did a good job for my sister-in-law whilst she was in The Goldbridge Care Home. Very friendly and supportive to my sister-in-law and my family too. Nurses and carers, plus catering/housekeepers, really made an effort. Some really dedicated members of staff here!
My mother stayed at The Goldbridge for 10 months. Her care needs increased significantly over her time in the home, and the staff went over and above our expectations with regards to her needs. All the staff, from the manager, care staff, nursing staff, catering and housekeeping staff were kind, caring and empathetic to my mother's needs, and also to the needs of us as her family. We were kept informed of changes throughout her care, and are immensely grateful for their care of her especially in her final days.
The nurses and carers at The Goldbridge are caring and supportive, treating each resident with respect. The staff understand the needs and personalities of the residents. The staff are friendly and helpful towards residents' families. The management is effective and open. The effort is made to provide a range of activities and stimulation for residents.
