View Full Details of Pendle Brook Care HomeI just had to write this review my mother came to Pendle Brook (25/11/24), it has been marvelous the care is second to none, the feeling of nothing is too much trouble, I know and now feel settled and not worried as my mum is safe and truly cared for. On an occasion last week Sunday, my husband and I saw a care member of staff taking a tray of crisps, biscuits into the lounge area for residents, how lovely treats in an afternoon watching television. Just like we do at home, the activities every week, marvelous, the social media page, brilliant, please pass this to the bosses. Thank you.
I have been volunteering on a weekly basis at Pendle Brook Care Home on a Tuesday since mid November 2024, and it is now my favourite day of the week! It really is 5* in every capacity, staff, service users, the care, compassion, communication, cleanliness, activities, outings, food and hospitality, are just exceptional in every way. I am always made to feel very welcome and the integration with the residents is second to none. Love this place!
As a newish resident, my mum has struggled with the change having been so independent all of her life. Mum's feelings of having lost her independence are difficult to deal with and although the carers do their very best, Mum can be challenging like most dementia patients in their 90th years I'm sure. The staff are lovely although there seems to have been a high turn over over the last 8/9 months which isn't helpful. The quality of care and kindness from all staff is truly appreciated. Mum's needs have been continually assessed and her care plan tweaked accordingly to make it right for her and us. Staff have been incredibly supportive of me as a daughter. Truly grateful. Thank you.
My wife is in this care home which has very bright & modern rooms & food and very good staff, also very good. The dementia cafe & entertainment are excellent. Her items sometimes get lost but that seems to be the case with most care homes.
My wife was in for about 7 weeks before having to be taken to Hospital. The overall impression is of a lack of staff, and that it's being run for profit, not necessarily for the benefit of residents. Security is not helped by the fact of leaving rooms open, with residents prone to rambling, and she lost several items, particularly glasses and dentures, within days, and it continued. There never seemed enough staff, mostly reactive, with one appalling incident of neglect, for which fulsome apologies were given and accepted. Most of all, management is remote from the action, making it very difficult to properly operate, as is acknowledged. A Care Home should be caring and proactive, not give an impersonal impression. The good staff are unfortunately let down by the poorer. I have been caring full-time for my wife who, as an ex-private nursing Home Matron, would have been appalled at some of the activity.
Mother in law left in room unwashed not dressed at 2pm. Never anything going on for entertainment don’t even put tv on for her. Furnishings getting tatty. Mums sheets dirty full of stains. No regular staff who can say how she is doing and most have poor language skills. Seems to be the dementia floor worst as other floors have better reviews. Never liked this home, no friendly atmosphere residents just seem to be left. we would move her but her daughter has picked this home.
Nan came to Pendle Brook in October 2023. We were very welcomed and Nan settled in very well. She is happy and content. Staff are very friendly and caring towards the service users and family. As a family, we love that there are different activities every day and trips out. Nan has had an amazing quality of life since living here and we are really appreciative of all the care and support you give.
Warm and friendly atmosphere. Happy residents are always clean and tidy. Entertainment is second to none always something going on. Visitors are always made welcome. Easy location with parking. Easy access is always open, excellent.
My mum has just become a permanent resident at Pendle Brook, she has been there since November 23, and the change in her has been amazing, every member of staff is so professional and very friendly and I know that my mum is being looked after. The care home keeps me up to date with everything regarding my mum or any concerns, her room is bright and clean and my mum is so happy there. I can't thank them enough for taking great care of her, they are all amazing. I've even got to know some of the residents there myself and it's so nice to see everyone each time I go and visit my mum. What an amazing care home. Thank you so much to every member of staff who works there.
My grandad has dementia and has settled in well, the rooms and communal areas are lovely and they have the option of being with the group or getting some quiet time in the 2 quiet lounges. The staff are very helpful and I can pop in at any time apart from meal times. Would recommend this care home.
Absolutely fantastic home, wonderful staff who make you feel so at home. The home is spotlessly clean and the food is a good standard. It is a large home but feels really homely. I would recommend the home to anyone, the manager is lovely and the staff on the bottom floor are outstanding, nothing is too much trouble for them.
Beautiful home which is meant to offer a 5-star care package, unfortunately, this is not the case. From the day my father was taken to this home, I had to ask and question the staff about his care, even the most basic care. Usually, a care home is supposed to provide families with reassurance that their loved ones are not in safe hands, but this was never the case for our family. I would most definitely not recommend this care home at all. My father did not even get the most basic care (we had to ask for him to be cleaned, we had to provide his own incontinence pads because assessments were not done, we had to ask staff to help feed him as he had lost so much weight, we had to ask for supplement drinks, we asked for a doctor to be phoned to come to the home for 5 days, this never happened. Every day was a heartbreaking battle, even when the senior staff were asked if they could meet his needs. This is not a 5-star care home. Please don't leave your loved ones here.
We attend the dementia cafe on a Tuesday. It's a lovely facility provided by the care home and we look forward to attending each week. Lovely staff, they are kind, friendly and helpful. very clean, hygienic and excellent activities.
Recently been able to visit my 98-year-old mother on a weekly visit. Always greeted with a smile and chat. All staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Despite PPE, it's always a pleasure to visit. I would certainly recommend the home if asked to.
When phoning to speak to Mum, whoever answers the phone is always courteous and very friendly, nothing seems too much trouble. Even Mum says that the carers are really nice and friendly, and believe me, Mum can be very awkward. When visiting Mum now, we have to be tested every time for Covid which can be a bit of a bind, but the staff are fantastic and very friendly so it does not seem so much of a chore really. Really good to talk to.
On 1st impression of going into Pendle Brook, it is a very beautifully decorated home and you are greeted by very happy and helpful staff. Mum's bedroom and ensuite is very well fitted out and beautifully decorated. There is plenty of room for the residents to move around and different rooms to sit and have a chat, watch TV or have some quiet time. The activity co-ordinator keeps the residents busy part of the day, if they want and always updates the 'Facebook" page about what they are doing, so we are well informed during this awful crisis we find ourselves in at this moment. All the staff and the carers look after mum very well with patience, understanding and encouragement. This is truly a five star home. Thanks to all of you.
The care is excellent by all staff. Lovely gardens. My mum's room is of a high standard. Excellent food. Nice gardens. They have all sorts of activities for the residents to join in.
This care home is the gold standard on which other places should be modelled. It is a bright, cheerful and friendly home. It does not feel overly formal and has a lovely atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Book me in!
Everything was first class.
My grandma is a current resident of Pendle Brook and is set to stay there for the foreseeable future. Our experience so far has been nothing short of positive. The quality of care is outstanding, the staff are so friendly and it’s very reassuring to know my grandma is being so well looked after. My grandma's feedback is that the carers treat her with respect and dignity at all times, the food is excellent and the premises are always spotless. My grandma has even commented that she is never bored and there is always someone to chat to. Visiting times are extremely flexible, meaning that we, as family members, can come and go as we please throughout the day and evening. Overall we are so happy with Pendle Brook and would be delighted to recommend them to anyone looking to find a home for an elderly family member needing support.
