View Full Details of The BeechesDad died on June 19th 2024 having spent four years in the care of the wonderful staff at The Beeches, Park Haven Trust. We never felt like Dad was in a home, we felt like he was at home and at last we were able to sleep soundly again at night knowing he was being well cared for. The staff became his extended family. Theirs is not an easy job but they did it with compassion, care and a sense of humour. He was so well cared for and it was so lovely to see him laughing with the team. They were quick to identify when he wasn't himself and ensure that they were proactive with his nursing care. They kept him well fed (very important to him!) and I am sure he was smuggled extra biscuits from the kitchen, charmer that he was. Thank you to everyone involved in his care. To those who prayed with us towards the end of his life, I'll be forever grateful that he came around enough to spend a short time awake with us right after your prayers. Thank you all.
Back in April, I was rushed to the hospital with appendicitis, what should have been a half-hour simple operation turned into two operations 7 hours and three blood transfusions and 18 days in hospital. I am so lucky to still be here but the reason for this review is to express my heartfelt thanks to all the staff at The Beeches who cared for my mum whilst I was unable to see her. Their kindness and concern for me too really touched me. Not being able to see my mum for so long was heartbreaking but not once did I worry about her as I knew she was being more than cared for. It’s at times like this that you see the importance of the right care home for your loved ones. Again in August knowing Mum was well loved and looked after we booked to go abroad having not been abroad for 7 years due to not wanting to leave Mum I now know (not that I didn’t already) that Mum would be fine and we needed this holiday too. So it’s with a huge thank you to each and every one of you for everything.
First impressions are always very good. The foyer is clean, inviting. There are no weird smells which you can find in other homes. All the staff are lovely, approachable, welcoming, including cleaners, catering staff as well as care staff... We especially like the way the lounge area is laid out in groups of seats rather than the chairs lined up against the walls which is a sight too often seen in other homes. The staff really show they care for the residents. The courtyard is a really nice outside space, well tended and clean. My mother in law always looks clean well cared for. The staff are attentive to her needs. We couldn't wish for a more perfect, safe space for her to be. For anyone looking for a nursing home for their loved one then look no further. The only negative is the speed bumps haha. They are a nightmare.
From the moment you go through the doors you feel the love, care and warmth of all the staff. The staff are welcoming and involve you in all aspects of care for your loved one. Could not be happier that this is where my wife is.
Wonderful, The Beeches. Mum arrived at the unit as Covid struck, which prevented the family from visiting. Every effort was put into place to keep our mum and her new friends safe. The staff worked hard to make window visits easily accessible. It was easy to see the rapport she had built up with the staff. Mum always loved a hug and to get a hug and again we didn’t feel that she was missing out because we couldn’t do it. The home itself is beautiful, clean and homely. The ratio of staff to residents is evident when you see how my mum always looked clean and well cared for. I have no negative words to say about The Beeches and its wonderful staff. When my mum was passing, our family virtually moved in. The staff held us up at the saddest time of our lives, they were amazing. And as a family, we will miss them and be forever grateful for the love and care they gave our mum until the end. I know how hard it is looking for your loved one's forever home. The Beeches tick every box.
We cannot thank the staff at The Beeches and all the staff on the oak ward since October 2022. My mum has received amazing care, she was really poorly when she arrived now in April she is amazing and is so happy here. The staff are all so dedicated to the residents and it has really shown with 100% improvement since she has been there. Thank you to all of you.
I can't praise the manager and staff at the Beeches high enough. We as a family had an extremely difficult time placing Mum in another nursing home when we chose one. Unfortunately, Mum's experience and ours, was one we would never wish on anyone. When we came across The Beeches, straight away from the walk around to the manager visiting Mum in her old care home, it was apparent Parkhaven staff really understood what care Mum deserved and what we, as a family, needed too. I can honestly say, the weight lifted off our shoulders knowing Mum is safe, cared for and her and our best interests are always at the forefront of everything The Beeches do. For all the members of staff to know about Mum and how she is when we visit or just phone up, is so comforting. To feel the genuine care and to see Mum always looking clean and cared for, to know we don't have to be there morning, noon and night to make sure she's OK is worth more than anything. This is a place you can trust to look after your loved one.
