View Full Details of Oakham GrangeCaring, considerate staff have made it easier to put my husband into a care home knowing he is looked after safely at all times.
The care provided to my grandparents was fantastic. All the staff were so kind and welcoming to all of us. I am so happy that you were able to accommodate all their many different wants and needs, including making a double bedroom for them as they could not bare to be apart. We are all so grateful for the care and love that was shown to them, and feel safe in the knowledge that should we need you again that you are all there. The staff always looked happy and were so kind. There was lots of staff all over the home, it seems that you are very well staffed. The food was lovely and the kitchen team worked extremely hard to ensure that my grandparents were happy.
Dad came in for ten days respite care. Despite him having advanced Alzheimer's . I could tell my dad was happy here. The management here are on the ball and very supportive. My dad was on the first floor, the manager of this floor is excellent. She leads by example. The staff were friendly and helpful. Best respite stay my father has had.
Simply thank you for caring about your residents and their families. We always feel welcome when visiting and often hear (and see!) how good the food is, how kind and respectful the staff are, and the discreet reassuring support on offer when needed, while allowing independent choice where possible. It is reassuring to know that they are being well cared for when we are unable to be there.
My Mum was made welcome and settled in quickly. The staff are caring and interacted well with her. We were always made welcomed by staff when we visited. When my Mum became poorly I would not have wanted her to be anywhere else. I had peace of mind that she was being well looked after.
I was a private carer for one of the current residents for 3 years prior to them moving into Oakham Grange. Their needs increased to the point that I could no longer manage to look after them on my own. Since moving to the home 8 months ago I have seen massive improvements in their general health and overall happiness. Staff here are the most charming and caring people. I think a lot of care is taken in recruitment. My friend was so worried about going to a care home and originally came for a short stay but then decided to make it their permanent home. They have made friends with other residents and now after so many years home alone, they have a social life again. The activities are fun, the food excellent and the atmosphere is friendly and calm. Being an experienced carer I just want people to know that there are good things that happen in some care homes and it can be life-changing for the better and does not always need to be the last resort. My friend wishes they had come a year earlier.
I have never written a review before but I feel so strongly about Oakham Grange that I had to. The manager and all the team are so helpful and kind. My mum was welcomed and looked after from the moment she arrived in June 2024. Oakham Grange is clean and the atmosphere really gives a 'home from home' feeling. There is always an activity or performance to attend to have fun at and interact with other residents. The manager and the staff even arranged a coffee morning for Mum, who was missing friends from the village she had lived in all her life, so everyone could come in and see her. Everyone was so impressed with the lengths the staff would go to arrange such a special morning for everyone in the community. My family and I are so grateful to each and every one of the staff at Oakham Grange.
My mother moved into Oakham Grange in July and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. From the moment you walk into the reception area, you feel wrapped in a calm, friendly atmosphere. Everywhere is kept exceptionally clean, the rooms are amazing, very spacious and nicely decorated. All the staff (and I mean all - maintenance, cleaners, carers, nurses, office/reception, management) are conscientious, carrying out their different jobs in a professional manner, each has time for the residents, nothing is rushed and nothing is too much trouble. As a team, they make everyone - not only the residents but family and friends too - feel special. I am so happy to have Mum living in Oakham Grange, I know she is safe and is being well cared for. Thank you, Oakham Grange
From talking to the family of the resident of The Grange and my own experience when visiting, I just feel the Grange could do better. Service is very slow. The staff are very kind but have no sense of urgency about them. If my friend needs help going to the toilet sometimes she has to wait 15 mins for that help. There is no consistency with serving of breakfast either, for example, sometimes 7:30am sometimes 9:15 - despite her requesting a time. There needs to be better management.
It was a big decision to move my 99-year-old father to Oakham from a home on the south coast where sadly he was not being cared for properly. From the moment I contacted Oakham Grange, they did everything they could to reassure me and to make the move go as smoothly as possible. Everyone is so friendly and kind. The staff are always looking for ways to make life easier and more enjoyable for my very frail dad. They seem to look after Dad and all the other residents as if they were looking after their own parents or grandparents. I love the layout of the lounge and dining areas, where Dad can feel part of things as much as he is able. Little things count. The staff say hello and make me welcome when I visit. They are always happy to stop and chat about how Dad is doing and they are always well-informed because they communicate well with each other. It seems a happy place to work with great teamwork across all departments, creating a great atmosphere for residents and families.
My mother moved in mid-March and every effort was made by all the staff to make her feel welcome and settled. The staff are very attentive and efficient and always with a cheery smile. Oakham Grange is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished giving it a 'home from home ' atmosphere. The activities arranged are very much appreciated by my Mum enabling her to interact with the other residents. The menus are very varied, so well cooked and presented. To sum up - I defy anyone to find anything or anyone negative!
I visited my aunt on her 84th birthday. As always I was greeted in reception by attentive and friendly staff. The care staff in the sitting room all greeted me with a smile and a chat. I was delighted that the staff had made a birthday cake for my aunt, very thoughtful. Oakham Grange is a very nice residential care nursing home. I am lucky my aunt is a resident.
I have visited my friend who lives at Oakham Grange several times in the last few months. On each visit, he has always been well turned out and happy. He has a great relationship with the care team and enjoys the food and activities. There is always a warm welcome to visitors from staff who clearly enjoy what they do. Although my friend was not looking forward to living in a care home, he told me that he wished he had gone to Oakham Grange sooner, as his quality of life has really improved, and feelings of loneliness and isolation are now a thing of the past.
I had been looking for respite care for my father and was very relieved to find Oakham Grange. It was important for me to feel as comfortable as possible when entrusting others with his care, and from my first telephone enquiry, everyone was extremely welcoming, understanding and caring. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The interior is light and lovely, and everywhere is spotless. It has been such a great place for my father to stay, initially for a few weeks and then again for a further visit. Nothing is ever too much trouble for anyone and all of the staff, in every department, have been incredibly kind and caring of him, always with a smile. The teams seem to come together as one happy family. Oakham Grange provides great support and gives me peace of mind. My father has made ongoing friendships there. I would highly recommend anyone considering care, to visit, and see for themselves what a wonderful place this could be for them too.
Following a stay in the hospital we needed to find a care home for Mum which could support end-of-life care with nursing facilities. We looked at other care homes but were immediately impressed by the staff and facilities. Mum could not participate in any of the activities although she did enjoy her experience of touching a baby lamb, something she had never done in her 95 years. Mum was not always well enough to enjoy the wide range of quality food offered but the staff always ensured any special requests were fulfilled. Latterly as her health declined the staff supported her feeding. The staff could not be kinder and were always attentive to her needs and extremely friendly and kept us advised on her condition at all times. Although she entered the home with a life expectancy of only a month it is only due to the level of care and attention she received that we in fact lost her 8 months later. We cannot express enough our thanks to all at Oakham Grange for all their support.
Mum transferred to Oakham Grange from another care home 4 months ago. A staff member at Oakham Grange arranged suitable transport. It was a great relief that Mum settled in immediately and has been calm and content since. The very spacious, comfortable open-plan dining and lounge areas (with balcony access) enable lots of flexibility and ease of movement. The ratio of carers to residents on Mum's floor (Avocet) seems very high and the carers constantly observe and interact with Mum. They have managed to improve Mum's intake of food and drink, partly due I think to the relaxed way meals are served and the regular topping up of drinks. Mum starts meals very slowly and is allowed to sit at the table and start to eat at her own very slow time and continue until she has finished. That sometimes spans several hours. In the time Mum has been at Oakham Grange so far, I haven't experienced any negative points.
Following a disappointing start at another care home, Oakham Grange Care Home was recommended to us. A bright and airy home with friendly staff from the first point of contact. Sadly, my mother came to the Grange for end-of-life care. She was treated with dignity and surrounded by people who genuinely cared. The nurses and care staff kept the family updated both in person and via phone. Mum was not well enough to take part in any activities, her favourite animal was an owl. The home had a visit from a falconry centre and the activity coordinator made sure that one of the owls visited Mum in her room following the show downstairs. Mum's appetite declined and although there was a varied food choice, Mum only wanted a banana sandwich! The kitchen staff were more than happy to accommodate this along with other options to try and encourage her to eat other foods. As a family, we felt that the staff at Oakham Grange not only cared for Mum - but that they supported us during a very difficult time.
Generally my experience was extremely positive. I was made welcome by all the staff who made a special effort to cope with my often demanding needs. The room was relatively spacious, clean and comfortable, the food was varied and well-presented (though the Dining Area noise could make conversation difficult at times) and the facilities and entertainment on offer made the Grange a pleasant place to be. There were some difficulties during my 4 month stay but these were immediately addressed and efficiently dealt with. The core medical team were particularly helpful but some of the added staff were less familiar with my needs and this led occasionally to less effective care. Nevertheless the friendliness and patient understanding shown by the reception staff, the leadership team, the nurses, cleaners, catering and maintenance department will encourage me to return to the Grange for respite stays in the future. Many thanks.
I have spent five wonderful weeks here meeting some of the nicest people I have ever known. the staff are so helpful and caring, always willing to help and make life easy, but better still they do it with a smile. If the top score was 100% I would give them 110%. Many thanks to all.
I initially visited having researched care homes in the area for my 90 year old father and was so impressed with the environment and warm, professional and friendly welcome. I then visited with my father and as we both agreed this was the first choice the home made it possible for my father to move in quickly. I have been impressed ever since and every box is ticked for him. He is happier than he’s ever been and has decided that this is the place he wants to stay and we couldn’t be happier
