View Full Details of Alexander House Care HomeI was surprised how nice Alexander house was when I first visited. I think the gold standard is when I visit my aunt and she tells me every time how happy she is and how well she is cared for. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff I have met, friendly and helpful. After visiting family in care homes over the years, this one would take some beating all round.
The team at Alexander House have been fantastic, great food fantastic rooms and great facilities. Mum's care has been second to none they have weekly events for the residents it has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely caring staff and an amazing chef. The facilities are great I am able to make Mum drinks in the kitchen on the same floor and the whole caring team works together. It could pass as a five-star hotel, you are free to come and go without hassle.
I have been fortunate to find at very short notice a home from home for my lovely mum. The transition from hospital to Alexander House has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble, lovely caring staff and an amazing chef. The facilities are great and the whole caring team working together in care.
I visited my friend at Alexander House for the first time yesterday (13/06/24) and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were polite and jovial and all the residents were having a fun time eating, drinking and listening to a singer. I don't know if it is always like this but I can only review on my experience which was certainly a very good one.
Very pleasant and friendly, lovely atmosphere. Staff work very hard to provide a good service. Staff are very friendly, helpful and hardworking. Room is super, lovely fittings. Food is plentiful and delicious. Opportunity to personalise my room has made it easier to adapt. Activities keep me busy and help me to make friends. Very good activities coordinator who keeps me busy!
Alexander House is a young establishment just over a year old. I arrived in August 2023 when teething troubles were being tackled. There has been a sizeable turnover of staff which meant many of them getting used to individual residents at the same time and vice versa. This situation is now more settled. The present care staff are first class, under very lively leadership. Food and drink are plentiful, very well presented with the chefs inventing many different ways of presenting a wide variety of different food. Some of this is linked to various themes arranged by the events organiser, such as national themes. There are plenty of other events organised mostly in-house, with visiting performers and opportunities for some residents to go out. The superb rooms are well maintained. Residents can bring some of their own possessions to make the rooms more personal. Management is not remote contributing to the caring ethos of the home which is an excellent place in which to live.
We chose this home for respite care after reading their glossy brochure and visiting on the official opening day. Made a huge mistake. Incompetent management and an awful experience for my father (retired pharmacist). We made a formal complaint but most facts denied by the management. My father was attacked twice by another resident on two separate times, during the night or early morning in his bed. The first attack was acknowledged at the time but then later disputed. We asked for evidence of CCTV and electronic door openings into his room but none of this was available apparently and conveniently for the company. Most of our complaints were disputed. My 93-year-old father was very shocked and upset for months and to this day no one has ever enquired after him.
Our mother has been so well looked after by nurses and carers throughout the day and night during the weeks of two respite stays. She has been full of praise for the staff every single day and we have all really enjoyed our visits in such a great environment. She was not able to join in any activities so I don't have a personal review, although I could see and sense that these were excellently run and very worthwhile for other residents. It has been a real relief to know that she was safe and being so well looked after during these much-needed respite visits. Thank you to everyone at Alexander House Care Home.
I was shown around Alexander Care Home as a prospective ‘home from home’. It was a very detailed tour by an informative member of staff. I was introduced to other staff members. The facilities and standard of care are second to none. I was very very impressed. Thank you.
Mum has felt very lonely and trapped in her old home and was determined not to spend another winter there. Mum has changed so much at Alexander House Care Home, she has come alive, she is loving the company and the chitter chatter. The staff teams are so attentive, warm, friendly and caring. Mum has had quite a few friends and family visit her and they have all commented on how much happier and relaxed Mum is. Mum’s feedback to us: “can’t fault anything, everyone is so helpful, the food is so varied and is delicious, plus there are always snacks and drinks available in between the main dining times, my room and facilities are wonderful. I love the wide corridors, the informal lounge area, the dining room, cinema, the beautiful garden and the fact there is a private dining room you can book, perfect for when you have a family celebration. I now have such easy access to a Doctor and my medication is taken care of. I am feeling safe, secure, relaxed and not anxious about my future”.
Dad has been resident at Alexander House for 2 months now. The care is exceptional. Dad is happy, well fed, has made friends and is socialising a lot. The management team have helped with the difficult transition from an unsuitable former home into gaining confidence with this home. The social activities are great, and cause loud participation and enjoyment, with families and staff also joining in. I have felt particularly supported by the manager and her front of house team, and the nursing team are excellent with residents. The carers team are so kind to Dad and always have time for a chat with the residents. Housekeeping and catering are also very good and Dad’s en suite room is always spotless (thank you). What else can I say? After a very bad experience elsewhere, Alexander House is a joy to visit, knowing how happy Dad is. I interact with a lot of the residents and they all appear to be happy and are a good group who get on well together.
Dad has been at Alexander House for 3 months now. The home that he was at prior to this was not suitable for someone with advanced dementia, so we were very grateful how quickly the management team sorted out Dad's move to Alexander House. Alexander House is a lovely home - clean, tidy, beautifully-decorated and with fantastic facilities. The staff are professional but friendly with it and they work extremely hard. Being away from Mum has been a very difficult adjustment for Dad, but the team has looked after him brilliantly. It is a huge relief for us to know that he is safe and being well looked after. Dad enjoys the meals and there are always plenty of snacks and drinks available in between times too. There are lots of activities that go on in the home and Dad enjoys sitting out in the lovely garden (when the weather allows) too. Alexander House is well-positioned in terms of having a shop within walking distance, a bus stop nearby and nice walks around it too. Thank you.
Really wonderful and caring service. Atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The staff are so good with my grandad and make his stay a pleasure. I feel reassured that he is being well looked after and enjoying his later years.
Absolutely beautiful home. Nothing is too much trouble, when looking for a care home for my mum I knew this is where she would want to be. The care staff, nurses and management have all been wonderful and are always on hand should we need anything.
It's a horrible time, watching your mum's health deteriorate so that she can no longer live by herself but honestly moving her to Alexander House has been the most brilliant journey. I have peace of mind she's looked after 24/7 and she's enjoying the company, the activities and the food. The staff really care and management goes out of their way to support their residents. I couldn't ask for any more!
My father went into Alexander Care Home at the end of February this year. He was their second patient as this is a new home. He requires nursing care and I find the facilities and care to be outstanding. The staff go out of their way to make sure my dad is comfortable. They are backed up by regular GP visits. They also have an excellent programme of enrichment activities for residents. I live a long way away but in Alexander Care Home I can rest assured that he is well looked after.
My brother and I could not be happier with the home we have chosen for our father. Alexander House is brand new and really well-appointed. Clean, modern, light rooms, great common areas and really great staff. Well done to all the team involved.
Felt lost for a few days not knowing the routine. Not a lot of people booked in yet but I got my choice of rooms and the staff tried to get me to mingle. I am on my seventh day and feeling really good. The food is really good. I will be putting on some weight. Tea coffee hot chocolate anytime day or night, it's no trouble.
