The home always looks clean and welcoming. The management team always listen to visitors and answers any questions.
I was very tired and stressed having cared for my late husband over a long period during his final illness. Christmas was almost upon us and the prospect of being alone during the festive period very daunting. So I treated myself to a respite break at Peony Court over Christmas and New year. It was just what I needed to help me come to terms with all that had happened over the previous year. I found the staff at Peony Court delightful, kind and understanding. I would recommend a respite break at Peony Court to anyone who needs a little help and understanding from some truly caring and compassionate staff.
December was an important month for my dad as he celebrated his 100th birthday. Family and friends celebrated in the dining room which was made available to us in the afternoon. We had wonderful support from staff on duty and my dad had the perfect celebration. I find all the staff friendly, approachable and attentive to my dad and his needs. The home is of high quality and clean. Although my dad likes to eat specific food that I bring each week, the chef, kitchen and carers have accommodated his requirements into their busy schedules. A treat for me on my weekly visit is to be offered a tea and biscuit from the tea trolley and have a chat with the carer. Where necessary and from time to time where the family have felt the need for a face-to-face with managers, this has been possible and productive. Activities are varied and regular and although my dad is not a great participator, he has more recently joined in, a testament to the home approach. I am very happy he is at Barchester Peony Court Care Home.
The genuine community feel amongst both guests and staff is impressive. It has helped both me and my husband to accept and get used to this new and difficult phase in our lives. Requests to streamline and improve my husband's stay have all been dealt with. Food excellent. Surroundings excellent.
All the staff are incredibly friendly and lovely and take good care of Grandma! She's very happy here. She has lots to do with trips out and activities in the home. The food always looks very good too!
Barchester Peony Court Care Home staff are always welcoming, friending and extremely professional. Any requests are always dealt with efficiently and in good time. It's an absolute pleasure to visit my nan and know that she is in safe hands. Peony Court arrange activities, both in-house and externally, and are enjoyed by all. They also welcome visitors to take part should you wish to.
Staff are excellent, they are hardworking. The food is amazing, I put on weight. I live with my wife and we are very happy living at Barchester Peony Court Care Home.
I find the care home exceptionally clean with an overall, tasteful and modern design. All levels of staff that I have met have been professional, polite and very caring. It really is the best "home from home", in my opinion. However, I feel it is very overpriced and I would like the residents to be offered a second portion at mealtime if they wish, as I feel the portions are too small for some of the residents.
It is an excellent team at Barchester Peony Court Care Home. They will go the extra mile to provide the care and attention required.
My aunt has been a resident at Barchester Peony Court Care Home for just over three years. Throughout her stay she has received the best of care and attention from staff engaged in care, entertainment, maintenance and preparation of food. The residents rooms and my aunts are cleaned particularly well, her washing is regularly cleaned and returned for her use. Her family are always welcomed and consulted about my aunts health and care. The management team is lead well and the staff are responsive.
Overall, my stay was good but was let down in one area - food. The first week I was a resident, the chef was on leave and the food was questionable. On his return it did improve but still needed improvement. Some meals were repeated frequently. Portion size varied from plate to plate. Sometimes it would appear the kitchen was not ready for service and there could be substantial wait between courses. On two occasions, I order ploughman's platter and the difference between the two was unbelievable.
I have spent some time at Barchester Peony Court Care Home, although I was very nervous at the start. However, it has been a wonderful experience. Peony Court is second to none. All the staff are very kind and helpful and I was to say thank you to all.
My mother was at Barchester Peony Court Care Home for one week at the end of May 2024 for respite care. She had a wonderful experience and she felt welcomed by the staff and the residents who were warm and friendly. She especially enjoyed the lovely bath spa in the mornings. The outdoor outings at the ponds, feeding the ducks were refreshing and visited the church hall, my mother thoroughly enjoyed singing with the other residents and a chance to reminisce. The dining environment was pleasant, with a la carte service. She enjoyed being amongst residents seated around the table, having a laugh and a chat compared to being at home, eating alone and watching TV. This was a treat for her. In the near future, she will be back to meet the lovely staff and residents again.
Mum was struggling at home. We knew we had to find a nursing home for her and we found Peony Court. Even before Mum moved they made us feel very welcome. Now Mum is there we can relax knowing she is taken care 24-7 and I have never seen her so happy. Peony Court feels like our second home every time we go we feel welcomed and there is no need to book just turn up make yourself a coffee. They also have entertainment for all the residents and take the residents out regularly in the minibus. I highly recommend Peony Court, I don't think you could find a better home. Thanks so much.
A very pleasant atmosphere. Staff very welcoming and super helpful. My friend is well cared for and has settled, enjoying food, company, staff and a comfortable environment.
Care is very person-centred. Staff always lovely and friendly, my mum loves them! Food great, good activities, but most importantly my mum is really happy there. Thank you Manager and your team and keep up the great work!
A friend that my wife and I have cared for has now moved into Peony Court. The home is amazing, warm, and welcoming, best described as a 4 star hotel. Nothing is too much trouble from any of the staff, taking time to talk to us and remembering our names whenever we visit. Our friend originally went in for a period of respite care, but has now decided to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, food is great (we had lunch) with a varied menu.
Having visited regularly over the past few months, I can honestly say it’s always been a pleasure. Peony is kept to a very high standard in decor and cleanliness. Staff are always kind, polite, thoughtful and welcoming, going above and beyond to help and assist. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff always have the time to talk through and implement ways for individuals if needed. On entering Peony it feels as though you are entering a 5 star boutique hotel with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Peony has definitely changed my opinion on how I perceive care homes to be, which is very refreshing. Feeling like a home from home, it made the transition so very seamless. On initially contacting the home, I was made to feel at ease and all my questions were answered with complete transparency. I cannot express my relief in finding such a diamond. As next of kin, it’s the peace of mind this care home affords you to feel, knowing your loved one is cared for in a safe and exceptional way.
I find the home welcoming and friendly and the staff are attentive to my mum's needs and she has settled in well over the last six months. My girlfriend is a Community Sister and as a result visits many care homes and she was extremely impressed.
