View Full Details of The GablesMy mother was admitted to the Gables on 1sr of November. All the staff were very welcoming to her on our arrival, which reassured her. It was initially for respite but now it is long term. The home is very elegant and there is lot of activities going on everyday, unfortunately my mum is not able to participate in it because of her Dementia. My mum is a fussy eater, despite this the head Chef is cooking her the food she likes. Despite the language barrier staff and management are going the extra mile to give her excellent care.
The Gables is a care home like no other. Our mum has been there since January after she fell. It is a huge decision to move into a care home, but the warmth, love and care shown to the residents is unparalleled. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. The community spaces are welcoming. But what makes the Gables outstanding is its staff. Everyone you meet takes the time to look after the whole Gables family. There are daily activities, great food, a happy hour and trips out. And amazing care shown when residents need a bit of extra help or taking to hospital. Overall, there is a great sense of fun and joy in life. Thank you all for the fantastic job you do xx
My stay was what I needed while my daughter had a break. I enjoyed the comradery and the staff lovely, will probably go back when needed.
My mother was a resident at The Gables for 3 months. During her time there she was treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Her care and also the support our family were given, was exceptional. The staff are all extremely dedicated and caring. The home is like walking into a 5-star hotel. The 3-course lunch and evening meals were nutritious and well-presented. Thank you The Gables!
I can't believe my stepmother-in-law has only been at The Gables for one week. On arrival, she was furious with us for "dumping her there". Just one week later she has friends, is participating in activities, and is really content. The staff are all lovely, and caring towards our family as well as their residents. The beautiful environment makes it a pleasure to visit too.
My husband who has both cognitive and physical issues has stayed at The Gables and its sister home Parkfield Grange several times over the last three years. I believe that it is exceptional in terms of environment and services. The onsite management team are kind, and care. They set and deliver the values. The meals are nutritious; the care staff who have been there since it opened are caring, proactive and responsive. Some of their newer recruits need to grow into their role; some empathy training maybe. I have visited other nearby care homes and none come anywhere close!
We had looked at several care homes in the area for my mother. Have to say as this was our first time of having to do this we found it quite depressing until we visited The Gables. From the moment we walked in you felt this was something different, something special, we were not disappointed. Friendly, professional staff no signs of panic, a nice welcoming calm environment which is exactly what we wanted for Mom. First class care and facilities, it's a shame that not all persons needing care have the funds to be able to stay in a superb place like this. We would like to thank all the staff we have met for making my mother's transition stress-free and very welcoming. Keep up the good work.
Thank you all for caring for our dad with such kindness, dignity and professionalism. Dad is going to miss you all. During Dad's stay his confidence has grown and his walking ability is amazing! Thank you all.
The Gables go above and beyond. The care my mom receives is fabulous. She is bedridden but never feels lonely as the staff constantly check on her. They made her birthday so special with balloons, streamers and a beautiful cake in her room. As relatives, the visits are lovely, we are made very welcome. Everyone is friendly and the place is spotless.
I arrived at The Gables on Friday 31st May 2024, for a week after signing myself in for post-op care following a hysterectomy on 29th May taking the burden away from my family. What can I say? The care, not that I required much care, was second to none. I actually needed rest, of which I got plenty but there were activities should I want to participate. All the staff were helpful, discreet and caring. After staying for a week I felt so comfortable I decided to stay an extra four nights.
The Gables is fantastic. Like a luxury hotel. Unfortunately, my aunt is very poorly and so hasn't really been able to take advantage of many of the things it has to offer. She is probably more reliant on the staff than most other residents but they are looking after her well. Recently her condition has improved a bit and they have been getting her out of bed into a chair, which is a huge improvement compared to how she was when she first went in. When I visit, all the staff are friendly and helpful and my aunt seems to get on with everyone.
My aunt has been a resident here for a few months, and she has improved greatly, physically and mentally better. All the care staff are very caring, nothing is too much trouble for them to help her and other residents. She started eating and drinking with help and she is now sitting out and appears a lot brighter, they are very encouraging to her and she appears happy staying here.
I came to The Gables following discharge from hospital where I had been treated for two broken arms and a mass of bruising following a fall down my stairs at home. My daughters chose the home as they felt I needed help with personal care and some pampering. From the moment the ambulance dropped me off, I felt a very warm welcome. I was shown to my room, very spacious and beautifully furnished with a large ensuite wet room. The carers are so kind and helpful and have given me excellent care throughout, I’ve been here almost three weeks. This is a lovely home, well appointed with many facilities, including a weekly list of activities if you wish to join in. Everyone is very friendly and I feel very at home here whilst I wait for full recovery. If you prefer to rest in your room that’s fine although there is on my floor a cinema, a dining room and a lounge. Having visited people in other care homes whilst being the Parish Visitor for the church this is by far the best I’ve seen.
Dad was admitted to The Gables, Hagley, for a four-week respite stay. However, this turned into one week palliative care following his discharge from hospital. Staff at The Gables complained to the hospital about the deplorable condition he was in on his arrival by ambulance. Within only a few hours of arriving at The Hables, Dad had been seen by the district nurse (twice), paramedics and an ANP. He had been registered at the local doctor's and a respect form completed. All quietly and efficiently managed by the staff. During the week that Dad was at The Gables his treatment was second to none and it was not only Dad who received excellent care; the family was kept informed and supported throughout. Dad was cared for with compassion and love and given the dignity he deserved. We cannot thank the staff at The Gables enough for that. Care at its absolute best.
Mum moved to The Gables in November 2023 and to date, we have been completely satisfied with the quality of care and service provided. The staff seem to be very happy in their work and this spreads to residents and their guests. It feels like a happy place and Mum, we, family and friends have been made to feel very welcome. Mum’s medical issues are being effectively dealt with. The local GP practice that covers The Gables is a huge improvement on her previous GP. The activities are well-run and varied and the food is always excellent. The coffee bar and other communal areas often have a mixed group of residents, visitors and staff, so there’s usually someone to chat with if you wish. For Mum, the visiting dogs are a delight.
Even though my father was only a resident for a very short period of time, everyone at The Gables went out of their way to make him welcome and help him settle in and find his way around. Our lasting memory of him will be a very happy afternoon spent at The Gables celebrating his 94th Birthday. All members of our family, including 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren were able to be there, he was in his element having us all together and gave a really touching speech, which caught us unawares as he was a man of few words, preferring to be on the edge of things rather than the centre of attention!
The Gables offers a friendly and professional service. The staff are caring, excellent always ready to help and listen. We would recommend The Gables!
I would highly recommend The Gables. It feels more like a 5-star hotel than a care home and the residents receive the highest standards of care and support. The staff have been incredibly supportive of family members as well as attentive, compassionate and patient. My mother had psychological as well as physical needs and was fairly young to be needing respite care. They ensured she received all the help from external medical professionals in order to get better mental and physical health. They really praised and encouraged her!
We have visited several times for Sunday lunch and it's been terrific each time. Lovely weekend staff, kind, happy, and helpful. Delicious food and particularly as our family do have dietary requirements. The Gables is always beautifully clean and has a gentle and peaceful atmosphere. Residents are cheerful and smiley and it's lovely to see them at visits again. Thank you to your greatest asset - the staff!
Overall experience is excellent! The Gables is beautifully decorated with a warm homely feel. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. They can't do enough for you. The home is extremely clean and the food has always been excellent. We have found his stay at the Gables a really enjoyable and pleasant experience.
