View Full Details of Oat Hill MewsOur mum had a fall in January 2024 and after a stay in hospital was unable to return to her home. We chose this care home as we felt as a family that she would enjoy the surroundings and the warm atmosphere. From the start the staff were caring and kind not only to Mum but also the whole family; she settled well and was comfortable and well cared for. The kindness and respect that the staff showed to Mum, and us, at the end of her life will never be forgotten.
The compassionate care that my relative receives at Oat Hill Mews is exceptional. It is a great comfort to know that she is safe and cared for by the wonderful staff. It does not feel like a care home when you walk in; it is more like a hotel with its welcoming well stocked cafe adjacent to the reception area where there is always a warm welcome. The hairdressing salon is popular as is the thoughtful programme of activities arranged each week. I would have no hesitation in recommending Oat Hill Mews to any family looking for care for their loved one.
Mum moved into the home in April 2024 to be closer to us in the area. Our first introduction was at the official opening of the home and signed up shortly afterwards with the help of the Customer Relationship Management and the team who answered all our questions and made us feel at home. They went to great lengths to ensure my mum felt welcomed from the start and the care staff helped to settle her in. As Mum's mobility has further deteriorated the deputy manager has made great efforts to adapt and maintain her socialization with the other residents and enable her to still take part in activities where she can. The chefs provide an excellent range of meals and are ready to be flexible with residents' dietary issues. It is a great weight of our minds that her medication is being monitored closely and thanks go to the senior leaders and the rest of the team for making this possible. The housekeeping staff ensure the home is maintained to a high standard. All staff we have meet have been friendly and open.
My mum spent some time convalescing at Oat Hill Mews following a long stay in hospital with a broken neck. From my first phone call to arrange a viewing, to being shown around and meeting the staff, I was struck by how welcoming, warm, and friendly everyone was. Mum has dementia so joined the other dementia residents on their dedicated floor. She was looked after so well by people who really cared. I was struck by how polite, friendly, patient, and caring the staff were to all the residents. I was able to visit at any time which I found very reassuring. Mum thought she was in a hotel and was much happier and more settled than I had expected she would be. The home itself is beautiful, the decor and furnishings are so lovely and comfortable, all rooms and areas are light and bright, and the atmosphere created by everybody working there couldn't be better. I have no hesitation in recommending Oat Hill Mews to anyone looking for a residential care home.
My mum has been a resident of this truly exceptional care home since July 2024. From the moment we walked through the doors to view the home, we could not have felt more welcome. We were (very proudly) shown around the beautiful facilities, and importantly, all the questions we had on our list were answered before we even had to ask. The personal approach each resident receives is exceptional. The staff are extremely friendly, thoughtful, attentive, and really take the time to get to know each resident as an individual. There is a host of activities on offer, whether it is a craft session, quiz, book club, movie night, gardening, local entertainers, seated exercise, and more besides. Each of the resident suites are beautifully decorated, spacious, thoughtfully arranged, and with natural light coming from either a lovely view or access to the gardens. We highly recommend Oat Hill Mews and feel that we could not have asked for a better or more friendly place for my Mum to call her home.
My mum has been a resident since August having a shorter stay earlier in the year. All members of staff have been very kind and supportive in all conversations and interactions we have had as close family members of a resident. We feel well supported and listened to. The home is always very clean and tidy. The food is excellent. Visitors are looked after very well and always made to feel welcome. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
My mother arrived suddenly at Oat Hill Mews following poor health and many weeks in hospital. She was met by staff with open arms and taken to her beautiful en-suite bedroom with doors opening onto a central courtyard. Staff courteously came to introduce themselves, before giving her time and space to recover. Her respite stay soon became full-time as her strength returned under the care and watchful eyes of the amazing staff. We can't fault the friendly staff or thank them enough for all their care. They are all wonderful people who go out of their way to help residents and their families. The facilities are first class, as is the food. Multiple activities are offered daily from seated yoga and dance to musical events, animal petting, and outings. Not forgetting a regular movie afternoon with drinks and popcorn. All in all a wonderful home from home. Enough social stimulation to keep the most needy social butterfly going, and quiet rooms for those who prefer a quieter path.
Mum moved in during May 2024 and we have been warmly welcomed, I sleep well at night knowing my mother has complete care around the clock. Over the last few months we have got to know the staff and other residents and it feels more like a family than a business. As with anything new there are always uncertainties and niggles, the care team listen and make things even better, the two-way communication is excellent. We have access around the clock, the dining options and facilities are excellent whilst the housekeeping staff do an incredible job keeping the rooms, communal areas and laundry spotless. Mum particularly enjoys the hair salon, the numerous weekly activities, the wine with meals, as well as the daily contact with the lovely care team, thank you.
I would thoroughly recommend Oat Hill Mews to anyone who asked me about it, the facilities are spectacular, and even better the staff are unbelievably caring and supportive. My Mother-in-law went in initially for temporary respite care, but it was immediately obvious, that in fact, this was the permanent solution to what we've been looking for without really knowing it, for probably years.
Oat Hill Mews offers a home from environment with the added bonus of great care support; beautiful rooms and meals; fun activities and a sense of belonging. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with a smile and warmth; all members of staff of approachable; helpful and kind. I don't feel like a visitor when I come to see my friend - I am made to feel like part of an extended family within Oat Hill Mews. Their care and attention is second to none. My 12-year-old son could not believe it was a 'care home' - he thought it was a 5-star hotel! Being able to take our dog in for visits too is a bonus.
My Grandmother has been at the home for a few months now and this is her first experience in a care home. This of course had her, as well as the rest of the family feeling very apprehensive when it came to committing to going into a home, but these concerns disappeared very quickly after the first visit. Each family member was more than satisfied than the last after each of them made the trip over to see her. When I came to visit, I was very impressed by the home and its features as well as how well-kept it was. On top of the home itself, the staff are great. There are plenty of friendly faces who can help out with anything. Everyone in the family are delighted with how well everything has gone so far and we have no concerns at all. Now that I've made a visit, it's clear to see why the whole process went as fast as it did because the entire home carries so much appeal that my Grandmother genuinely wanted to be there.
My mum stayed for respite care (two weeks). Over June/July 2024 and I found all the staff to be approachable, caring and professional, all the residents looked well looked after, the bedrooms and bathroom immaculate, clothes washed, food excellent, even a little coffee bar as you walked into the building was well stocked with drinks and cakes for visitors and their families, most enjoyable. Furnishings and decor to a high standard, just like a brand new hotel but with the friendliness and homeliness thrown in. I wouldn't hesitate to return for some more needed respite care. Thank you Oat Hill.
My mother stayed at Oat Hill for a couple of months earlier this year. All of the staff were both friendly and approachable and as a family we had no concerns as to how she was cared for during her stay. Mum made a number of new friends and although now back in her own home, still visits now and again to catch up and is made very welcome. The home really does have a hotel feel to it and we would have no hesitation in Mum returning if the need arises in the future.
My husband and I went to visit our dear friend who is living in Oat Hill Mews. We were truly amazed and couldn't believe how beautiful the home is, it is not what you expect at all and truly feels like a hotel when you walk in. We were greeted with smiles from all members of staff and they made us feel very welcomed and even offered tea and cake! We can't believe how much happier she is at Oak Hill Mews, she is a completely different person. She looks healthy and well and is so much happier than we ever expected she would be. She is getting involved in yoga, dancing, and singing which are all things that we never thought she would do. Thank you to every member of staff that has contributed to her health, happiness and well-being. We couldn't be happier with the care that she is receiving and I came away a bit emotional with how relieved I was. From our experience, we would absolutely recommend Oat Hill Mews to anyone that was looking for care. Thank you all!
It was so lovely to meet the team and see where Grandad is now living... what a brilliant first impression! All staff were so friendly to me, and I was really impressed with the facilities and welcoming atmosphere. We were offered coffees and delicious cake in the fab 'cafe' style entrance hall while Grandad was having lunch, and then we went to see him in a fab little 'living room' type area with sofas and a fireplace. Nothing was too much trouble and I hear that Grandad is settling well and enjoying the red wine / GnTs with his evening meals. How nice for him to be treated like a hotel stay, a huge difference to other homes I have visited. Please thank the rest of the team!
Oat Hill Mews is a wonderful place, my mother has been there for two months now and has shown a great improvement that we didn't think would be possible. Above all else, she is very happy, and extremely well taken care of by the excellent management and staff who really go out of their way to look after her needs, and everyone else's. Highly recommended! And many thanks to all the staff at Oat Hill Mews!
I cannot praise the staff and facilities at Oak Hill Mew enough. Since our loved one moved in after a hospital stay, he has been surrounded by care and compassion from the minute he arrived. They helped us navigate the move and have been amazing putting together a care plan that encompasses both his cancer and his dementia needs. You are greeted with warm and genuine interest on arrival and it continues in the level of kindness and companionship they give him on a daily basis. The home itself is beautiful with multiple lounges on every floor, an activity room, salon and even a bar/cinema room. A beautiful garden is in the rear which I know we will spend a lot of time in! Much research has gone into every room for dementia patients to naturally encourage their cognitive skills, like blue rims on dinner plates. They want to see their residents thriving and are already trying to plan day trips and 'wish' trips. I highly recommend a visit and tour.
So very lucky to have found this amazing care home, from the minute you walk through the door you are greeted with such kindness and care. The staff are very highly attentive and skilled and nothing is too much trouble. Amazing place.
My dad who has both Parkinson’s Disease and dementia stayed at Oat Hill Mews for two weeks of respite care so that my Mum could have a break. The staff were caring, compassionate and knowledgeable and went to great lengths to understand what my Dad might enjoy in terms of food and activities. The home’s facilities are wonderful in terms of multiple lounges, dining rooms and activity rooms on each floor. The Activities Coordinator was fantastic with both my Dad and my young children! I highly recommend it, and we will be back next time respite is needed.
