View Full Details of Mearns View Care HomeWe enjoy coming to visit our friend who is a resident. The staff are always very friendly and encourage us to take part in activities going on. The professional care our friends receives is first class. We want to wish every one a Happy Christmas and a good New Year.
Amidst all the difficult times with Mum and Dad, there's some real diamonds with the manager and the team at Mearns View. I also can't speak highly enough of the staff and all the girls who organise the activities. I joined the folks yesterday for chair zumba and reflexology and actually felt like a load had been lifted off my shoulders - I can only imagine how good the folks felt. Wondering maybe if I should just move in too!? Anyway, I've just left the folks having joined them for coffee at a karaoke sing-a-long this morning - what a beautiful energy in the room. Everyone's spirits were so high and it looked like Mum and Dad had made quite a few new friends. We were definitely hogging the mic at times though so I apologise for what I thought were harmonies. I'm removing Islands in the Stream from my karaoke repertoire, the staff will be glad to know.
My wife has spent the last year of her life in the Mearns View Care Home, Newton Mearns. The personal service and help she was given by the management, nurses and staff was excellent. The program of enjoyable events: live entertainment, barbecues, board games and films, not to mention the dressing-up events such as Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day to keep everyone in a cheerful mood. It all added up to a stay that can be happily remembered by everyone. One memory will live with me forever - the regular peals of laughter that echo down those hallways. My thanks to the manager and his team, they all play a part in creating a vibrant community.
My mother spent three weeks in Mearns View recuperating from a knee replacement. Mearns View were very accommodating and flexible in arranging the dates, both entry and departure. All of the staff were unfailingly helpful, kind and courteous. The atmosphere was always friendly and my mother's recovery time passed very quickly for her.
My wife has vascular dementia and I am her carer. I was hospitalised and required respite care for my wife during my stay in the hospital. I am delighted to say that the care provided was really exceptional. The home provided a pleasant stay for my wife both emotionally and medically providing the support that my wife required. A well-run and absolutely perfect care home that met all my requirements, above and beyond their normal duties. Very professional and caring in all aspects of care. Would highly recommend Mearns View to anyone seeking care.
My sisters and I chose Mearns View for our mother who had become quite frail and needed more specialised care as she had dementia and cancer. We had heard good reports of the care home and we were not disappointed. From management, and care staff to ancillary staff, all were exceptionally knowledgeable, caring and kind towards both our mum and us, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately Mum passed away after only 2 weeks and although we were saddened at her passing, the staff members on duty took excellent care of her and I was offered a room to rest in between sitting with Mum until she passed. I thank every one of you for helping us make the transition for our mum moving from her home to yours at short notice, a stress-free free pleasant experience. Mum's words 'it's lovely and clean, like a hotel'. Thank you all again.
Our sister has been at Mearns View since March. She has settled extremely well and she seems to be happy and content. This is mainly due to the care and attention that she has had from the amazing staff team. The manager has clearly set out a shared vision for the care home which has filtered down to each and every member of staff. From garden parties, trips out on the minibus and weekly quizzes, to pampering sessions, entertainment and theme days... Our sister is treated with love and dignity. This is truly her home. It is an excellent place.
Fantastic service from all staff with respect and dignity shown at all times. This is on my view of the overall time my friend has been with you.
My 95-year-old mother has been a resident at Mearns View since the 1st of March 2024. She has settled in very well with the help of the very caring and comforting staff. Having looked at several care homes locally we are very glad that we chose Mearns View. We would highly recommend this home, if you check out their website you will see the many luxurious facilities this superior care home offers.
My friend has settled in very quickly to Mearns View and feels very much at home here. She receives great care from the staff who are warm and attentive - nothing is too much trouble. Individual needs are the highest priority and great care and interest are taken over her welfare and comfort. She is gently encouraged to participate in the Home’s activities. When visiting or phoning, the staff are always very welcoming and helpful and there is good communication about matters concerning my friend. It’s always a pleasure to visit. Mearns View is a lovely home, with tasteful decor and furnishings as well as an attractively landscaped garden, which includes a play area for visiting children. There are a number of areas for socializing with friends and family. A lot of thought has gone into making this a real home for the residents.
There’s no doubt in my mind that placing our elderly grandmother into Mearns View Care Home was the right decision. All the staff were amazing and my anxieties over the situation of placing her in care melted away after seeing how well she was being cared for. The facilities are second to none and our gran commented multiple times on how ‘clean and comfortable her room was’ and how she was ‘being well looked after’. I couldn’t ask for anything else than to know she spent her last few days enjoying a lovely bath, getting her hair done, and eating freshly prepared food which was specified to her needs. Sadly she passed away from natural causes at 101 years old, but I’m happy she got to leave this earth with the dignity and respect she deserved. I will always be grateful to Mearns View Care Home for the wonderful caring service they provided not just for our gran, but for us too.
I arrived here on 10/01/2024 very frightened and unsure. I did not know what to expect! Within two days I felt comfortable and able to move about the rooms. The staff have made me able to talk and discuss my wants. I hope in future I can write correctly.
My sister-in-law has been a resident within your care since August 2023. Since coming into your home we have noticed a dramatic difference in her physically and mentally. She is very content and as a family, we are so happy with the first-class care she is receiving. The home is designed to a very high standard and offers the residents beautiful surroundings. The cafe is well used by us on our visits and offers yummy cakes and great coffee, but above all, it’s a great meeting place for family and residents. The staff are super helpful and nothing is too much bother for them. The chef does hotel standard meals which all the residents look forward to. The cinema room is well used and again a great place for residents to meet and relax. The grounds are very private and large and in the better weather, my sister-in-law loves to sit in the beautiful garden or just go for a walk taking in nature. I would not hesitate to recommend Mearns view, it is in my opinion the best for care.
I have been in Mearns View twice for respite and have now moved in permanently. The staff are very caring and the rooms are lovely. The food is exceptionally good.
Excellent staff arrangements. Well-established staff, very helpful and cooperative. Thoroughly enjoyable food.
As a family we visited various care homes in the south side of Glasgow, the last one being Mearns View which we immediately agreed was the best. The staff from the outset were engaging, very helpful and most of all very caring for our elderly mother. The facility is fantastic from the bedrooms, dining rooms, cinema room and hairdresser. Lastly, the security is first-rate as I’m sure everyone wants their loved ones to feel safe and secure in a different environment.
Very happy with Mearns View Care Home. Facilities are excellent, staff efficient, friendly and caring. Activities over the festive season varied, extensive and much appreciated for the residents. Parking is an issue! May prove more of a problem when full capacity is reached.
My aunt and uncle have been residents for the past 6/7 months, what started off as respite soon became their home and has changed their quality of life. They have been made to feel safe and secure knowing there is someone at the end of a buzzer and this is a credit to the professionalism of all staff. Everyone goes above and beyond their duties to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents is a priority treating them with dignity and compassion. It has been a pleasure getting to know everyone, from the moment you enter you are welcomed in a friendly manner, the surroundings are immaculate and the staff are knowledgeable. The chef definitely has his work cut out for him meeting the very varied diets and demands but always leaving residents satisfied. The other facilities like the cinema, the cafe lounge and the hairdressers are again all of a very high standard, definitely five-star hotel standard. It has been my pleasure to get to know everyone. You should all be very proud.
New build (May 2023) rooms spacious with good quality decor. Storage is good with excellent quality of fixtures and fittings. Comfortable environment with a variety of communal areas allowing for good interaction of residents. Staff communicate well, extra activities organised by a full-time entertainment manager are planned to meet a wide variety of needs e.g. visits to shopping centres, theatre, restaurants etc. Language course for example Spanish chosen by residents. A variety of clubs is available e.g. current affairs, book and cinema clubs.
Find the home to be warm and welcoming. A friendly and good place to be.
