View Full Details of Barchester Hyacinth HouseI am very pleased with Hyacinth House for my mother. She lives there, so has some comments to make herself, but I know she does communicate her needs and constructively critical comments to the relevant folk. The home is more like a hotel to be in to me. The public areas are so comfortable and tastefully furnished. All the staff are welcoming, kind and helpful. I remain very happy for her to be in Hyacinth. Such a shame I am unable to continue caring for her myself. She had known Hyacinth from being in respite, and the transition for her, whilst being sad, does not appear to have been too traumatic when the time came for her to go in permanently. I cannot think of any constructively critical aspect to share at this time. Sadly, she chooses not to engage with the other residents much, or take part in the activities. She is very disabled but completely 'on the ball'....... But I know there are activities and another resident does pop in to visit her daily.
My parents came to Hyacinth House almost a year ago and have had wonderful care from day one. The home is beautiful and always warm and welcoming. Sadly dad recently passed away and we have felt supported, comforted and reassured during his final weeks and days. Mum has been incredibly well looked after too and has been cared for by all the staff and residents at this difficult time.
I needed to find respite care for my elderly aunt. I was nervous as I had never had to do this before. I did not need to worry, Hyacinth House is amazing - the care and empathy is above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. Aunty may end up staying.
Staff are so friendly, polite and respectful. My friend feels safe, secure and the happiest I've seen her since moving from another residential home to Barchester Hyacinth House. She is so well looked after and the whole place is spotless. I feel happy and safe in the knowledge that my friend is in excellent hands. I have experience in my career of many care homes, Hyacinth House exceeds my expectations.
My mother came to the home for respite after leaving hospital, she had been through a trauma and a long stay in hospital. The care home staff were fantastic with my mum, very patient, encouraging and kind. From the care my mum received after being there four and a half months she was ready to go home. The staff were always happy to help and put their residents first. The food was fantastic fresh well balanced meals offered every day and great cake! The entertainment was varied and fun with wonderful trips outside the home too. As a visitor you were made to feel welcome from the moment you walked in the door. The management were always happy to help and find the time to assist and answer any questions. I am very grateful to all the team for how they supported my mum. I would definitely recommend this home for respite or long-term term care.
My mum chose to move into Barchester Hyacinth House in the autumn of 2023 and remained there until she died in April 2024. She was one of the home's first residents. Her room was lovely and the food was delicious, with plenty of choice. Every member of staff, from the manager right through to the housekeeping team, was outstanding; so friendly, positive and compassionate. They made every effort to make Mum feel at home and to find out about her as a person, even arranging for a donkey (one of Mum's favourite animals) to visit the home! Everyone was so caring towards Mum and us when Mum became more unwell and the staff were determined to enable her to stay at Hyacinth House if at all possible. They made arrangements to give her the additional support she needed and took care of us too, both emotionally and with cups of tea and meals; nothing was too much trouble. We were so pleased that Mum was able to spend her last days in the home with familiar faces caring for her, instead of in hospital.
This is the second time I have used Barchester Hyacinth House for respite care for my mother, who has difficulty with mobility. Mum loves it here. The bedrooms are modern, comfortable and well-equipped. Staff are very friendly and helpful - and Mum tells me the food is very tasty. Mum also enjoyed the fitness and creative activities and going out in the minibus to the New Forest and Poole Park. A huge thank you to all the staff for looking after Mum whilst we were away. I know she looks forward to seeing you again soon.
Having been to the fortnightly exercise classes, it had already felt a lovely atmosphere. I stayed for a week, last week and from my first, warm welcome, I felt so relaxed, safe and loved my stay in every way. A wonderful team of staff who not only care for the residents beautifully but were so civil and supportive of each other.
My mum came to Barchester Hyacinth House in July 2024, initially as a four-week respite stay whilst recovering from a fall at home. Her family had no hesitation in placing her following our meetings with managers and carers, all of whom were so friendly and helpful. Mum loves her room and the whole ambience of the house. It has been so wonderful to see Mum grow in confidence and get involved in the many activities provided which, of course, make us, her family, very happy too. Nothing is too much trouble for all of the staff.
My week at Barchester Hyacinth House was a good experience. I have had an operation in July and was in need of being looked after. The room was comfortable and I was able to sleep well. I enjoyed having my breakfast in my room. The food was mainly good and it is good to have alternatives if needed. The decor is so pleasant and this made it a pleasure to stay there. As I am now, I am not ready for residential care but if I need another break from home, I would certainly return to Hyacinth House.
I had a lovely stay. Manager and staff are kind and understanding. Food was amazing. Rooms are cozy and comfortable. I felt loved and I felt at home. Place is very well managed. I will definitely go back.
My mother was looked after so well by kind and compassionate staff who took the time to support and reassure her with all her needs. She loved the excellent food, and being able to choose from a variety of delicious options, in a sociable and friendly dining room. She enjoyed visiting the hairdressers and the daily outings too. She had a lovely room, both comfortable and with tasteful decor. It was the perfect respite for her and we were so grateful to all the team for their support in welcoming mum. A special thank you to the manager who is so lovely, and happy to help in any way she can.
Very welcoming home, lovely. Staff are very approachable. My parents are on a respite period and I know they are in safe hands.
All I can say is that each and every one of the staff in Barchester Hyacinth House is a treasure for the warmth, care and kindness they gave me.
My uncle came for respite care, rather unsure about the whole thing, physically only moving very slowly and mentally very down. He stayed for two weeks and found the whole experience absolutely amazing. As he said, 'They couldn't do enough for me, I was looked after so well. I know I paid to stay there, but the care they gave me went above and beyond what money pays for.' When we collected him to take him back home he was walking much better and his attitude towards life had completely changed! He felt more positive, more alert, and more open to lots of things. I cannot speak more highly of the whole team at Hyacinth House. Without exception, they were caring to my uncle, but also to myself and other relatives. They made us all feel very welcome, and 'part of the family'. My uncle said he would happily recommend Hyacinth House to anyone who asked - without any reservations! Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience such a wonderful one, for everyone involved.
I came to Barchester Hyacinth House after a bad fall at home with two crushed lumbar vertebrae. I was also suffering from colitis. I could not have carried on at home even with health service support. During my stay, my vertebrae have fused and I can stand unaided. I needed four visits to the hospital for treatment for colitis. On each occasion, I was escorted by a Barchester carer. It so happens that the infusions have put my colitis in remission. Careful dieting at Hyacinth House has been invaluable.
Thoroughly satisfactory. Very nice people. (I have booked to come again.)
Having been admitted to Hyacinth House unexpectedly, I cannot fault the genuine kindness, care, service and attention afforded to me during my stay here. Each and every member of staff has been interested in me as a person and have had the time to listen to me and give encouragement every step of my recovery. My thoughts about care homes have drastically changed since my stay at Hyacinth House. I and my family couldn't recommend the care and attention highly enough. First-class on every level. Thank you.
From my very first phone call to Hyacinth House at 19:12 hours on 27th December 2023, the service was very professional and ever so kind and caring to my mother and her children. The following morning, my son (adult nurse) and I met Hyacinth House's Home Services Advisor and she was again superb, quickly understood my mother's feelings, fears, and more importantly her needs. She was very clear and gave us a very detailed tour of the lovely care home and the activities available. Mum duly arrived the next day and her respite stay was very successful. All the staff, from the fantastic chef, amazing care staff and the management were just superb and so caring. Thank you.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely return.
