View Full Details of Humberston House Care HomeMy father needed respite care following a hospital stay. We found the facility to be clean, friendly and welcoming, whilst remaining professional at all times. We were welcomed as family to visit at any time. The staff were caring and considerate of my fathers situation. I would like to make a special mention of the chef and kitchen staff, who adapted the menu to my father's needs.
I was always determined never to put either of my parents in a care home. The name 'care home' itself was a contradiction in my mind. It would be neither genuinely caring and certainly nothing like a real home. Even if the facilities are shiny and new, it would still be a soulless institution. I was wrong. At least, when it comes to my father's experience at Humberston House, nothing could be further from the truth. The final year of his life was spent here surrounded by some of the most caring people you could meet, who made dad feel valued every day. Dad was always treated with genuine dignity and affection from his arrival to the day of his passing when all the staff lined the hallway as a mark of resect. I should also mention that staff not only looked after my father incredibly well, they also made my mother, who visited dad almost daily, feel welcome and included and did little extra things for her which went above and beyond. This is a Care Home in the true sense of the words.
This care home is fantastic. The place is immaculate and the staff could not do enough for my step-mum or for the family either. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have a real homely feel to them. My step mum was treated with dignity at all times. I also noticed how happy all the other residents seem to be. We certainly felt relaxed when we had to leave on my step-mums first night staying here. We were relieved as we could see she was getting the first class treatment she deserved. The staff here made a very difficult time just that little bit easier and we will forever be grateful to them for that.
My mum was a proud lady who stubbornly valued her independence. Although she always thought she could live independently, her general frailty meant she needed much more support than she could get in her own home. Her attitude meant she wasn't always the easiest of residents, but she came to like the staff (and be liked by them) and enjoyed all aspects of daily life. After a short spell in hospital, she returned to Humberston House Care Home for her final days and the tender care shown by all of the staff, and the kindness shown to me while I spent time with her, is something I will always remember and treasure. The attitude of the whole team is absolutely fantastic. My adult children visited the home on the day of their grandmother's funeral and they were impressed, it is not what they expected a care home to look like!
What an absolutely amazing home. Beautiful environment and the most professional and caring staff you could wish for. I can't thank Humberston House enough for the care given to my late mother. You gave my whole family huge comfort and managed her final weeks with us in the most dignified and caring way. I will be forever grateful for that. Simply outstanding and therefore I would wholeheartedly recommend Humberston House for you or your loved one.
My mum was only at Humberston House for a couple of weeks but in that time I found it to be a very welcoming place and the staff were absolutely amazing with my mum and the care she received was fantastic, the rooms were beautiful and always kept to a very high standard, I would certainly recommend Humberston house to anyone.
I commenced day care for my mother with Vascular dementia. I chose Humberston House due to the friendly welcoming manager and staff, lovely decor and emphasis on clients comfort and individualised care. My mother is still very physically fit and staff entertain her and engage in valuable conversations.
I came to Humberston House after breaking my right ankle, after having had a horrendous experience in hospital for a week. I was both mentally and physically drained because only 2 months previously I had major surgery on my left ankle. I was almost fully non-weight-bearing and couldn't go home without respite. From the moment I entered the beautiful building, I began to feel better but it was by far and away the most caring and compassionate staff who made my recovery both physically and mentally much quicker than expected.
My mother has been a resident for the last six weeks and it's given her a new lease of life since she has become a resident here. The staff are first class and it's like a home from home. If you are looking for a care home then I would highly recommend Humberston Care Home.
Was completely against mum going into a care home. Mum went in for a short respite. I have to be honest, I visited ready to rip the place to bits, I didn't want my mum in a care home of any description however I walked through the doors into something that resembled a five-star hotel. Residents sat at white linen tables set for dinner, other residents sat in the games room drinking a glass of wine and playing dominoes. Everything from the daily pastries laid out, to the bar to the cinema room to the bright and up-to-date decor, to the furniture, to the amazing staff, as hard as I tried, I couldn't find a single fault. Mum by her own choice now wanting to stay here long-term.
Very warm and welcoming, friendly atmosphere nothing is too much trouble, would recommend. Staff went over and beyond to make sure everything is as needed and tailored to. Varied food and drinks menu which includes Dad's favourites.
Mum has been here for 3 weeks so far, she is taking her time to settle, but the staff have been absolutely marvellous with her. They are so caring. The facilities are first class and could not be bettered. We couldn't have chosen a better care home.
My friend moved into the care home quite recently and I have visited her approx 6 times and each time have sat with her for 1 and a half hours. She seems to have settled in very well and I have been impressed with the attitude of the staff. They are very patient and caring. The overall atmosphere is happy and homely and it is a pleasure to visit. The design and layout of the building are so well thought out and the decor and furnishings are like to a 5-star hotel!
Very happy with the staff looking after my mum. Food is outstanding, friendly atmosphere for my mum to live, the grounds are super and will be when flowers and trees have grown. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone, I like to ring every day to see how my mum is and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Very pleased we picked this home for Mum.
My mum has come on a month's trial, my family and I are so happy with the care mum is getting we are letting her come permanently. The surroundings are beautiful, food and entertainment are perfect too. More than anything tho the care my mum is receiving is second to none. Thank you all so so much for looking after the most precious lady.
My dad moved into Humberston House in early December 2023 for respite care following a number of falls. Within two weeks of him being there I could not believe how much better he was, physically and mentally. This was purely down to the kind and caring team who look after him. The facilities, the food, the stimulation and overall care are absolutely five stars. Dad has now become a full-time permanent resident, we feel so happy that we know he is in a safe and caring environment.
My mother started her stay at Humberston House in December 2023. She was initially there for respite but we soon realised she would struggle to go home and be safe as her mobility is so poor, she is now staying as a full-time resident. The staff have been absolutely amazing with her transition; as she hasn’t found it easy accepting that she needs looking after, but with their kindness and support she has slowly started to settle in. The home is purpose-built and considering it’s a new build and a completely new business it has had very few issues. The home has fantastic facilities including a bar, cinema room, hair and nail salon and a great and varied array of activities. The ground floor rooms have access to a small patio to enable the residents to have flowers and an outdoor sitting area. It’s going to be stunning when all the landscaping is finished. The staff are always welcoming and I would definitely recommend it to any family considering care as it really is home from home.
My mum has recently moved into Humberston House, and I can only say how kind and caring all the staff are. When visiting her, we are made to feel very welcome in such a friendly environment. The facilities available are excellent. Mum has enjoyed having her hair and nails done at the beauty salon and doing gentle chair exercises in the lounge with other residents. Overall, I feel so content that she is being so well looked after in beautiful surroundings that feel more like a hotel, and although, at 94, she is quite an independent lady, there are staff available immediately should she need them. It’s such a pleasure to visit her and see her looking so well.
