View Full Details of Hamilton House Care CentreThe manager is so nice , calm and friendly two members of staff are the best. Thanks for being a good listener to staff and also caring for the service user. It's nice seeing and hearing good feedback from the home it's nice and I'm happy the staff are so welcoming and supportive and friendly
My father was 7 years into his Alzheimer's and dementia. It eventually became too much for my mother. The family visited many care homes, but as soon as we visited Hamilton House we knew it was the place for Dad. He wandered at night and the Hamilton staff explained that there were no restrictions on wandering, night staff had food and drink available 24/7 in case meals were missed while sleeping during the day. Unfortunately, Dad passed away last week. For the few months Dad was a resident, every single member of staff was outstanding. Without exception, every staff member showed compassion, care and love with absolute professionalism to the family but especially Dad. We were allowed to stay with him to the end. We will be forever grateful for everyone who worked at Hamilton for making Dad's last few days as comfortable as possible.
Hamilton House provided care for our Mum in her final weeks after a very traumatic five months. We found them a friendly home where she was treated with dignity and respect. While that sounds very clichéd, that was the experience; we saw staff speaking to the residents politely and acknowledging them at all times. As a family, we were always greeted warmly by both staff and management. The home was always beautifully clean and warm and the residents were well catered for in every respect. The resident's rooms are a good size and well maintained, nicely decorated in calm warm colours, and with ample seats for visitors. Mum lost her battle on 8th March, with my sister and I at her bedside. The sensitivity and sympathy of the nurses on duty throughout were highly appreciated. We are both pleased to have found Hamilton House.
Following the passing of my wife on the 19th of January 2024, I must say how impressed our family is with the caring care and nursing care that my wife received during her time at Hamilton House (24/10/23 - 19/01/24). The way in which all the staff treat the residents and their visitors is, in our opinion, second to none. It is a true team effort. Care and nursing is not a 'job', it is a 'calling' and my wife received both to such a high professional standard for her Alzheimers/Dementia and Bi-polar conditions, right up to the exact time that she passed. The previous care home in which my wife had resided found great difficulty in providing the personal care which she required. Hamilton House had no such problem and her personal care changed from day one.
If you are looking for a care home for a dementia patient then look no further. My mother came here from another home which couldn't cope with her behaviour - but she fitted well into Hamilton House from day 1 and has been happy there. The accommodation is very well laid out with lovely spacious corridors that the residents can walk about in freely as if they were at home and nobody seems to mind anything! It is very professionally run yet with a friendly touch - the staff are kind and affectionate to the residents and respect them. When it came to end-of-life care we couldn't fault the care and attention and respect that the patient and family received from the staff along with a professional medical programme to keep her comfortable.
I am very impressed with the care my wife is getting. 100% improvement on her previous home. Staff at all levels are very attentive and caring. Personal hygiene is very well done, every day this was just left in her previous home. Well done all at Hamilton House.
We honestly believe we could not have found a better care home for our mother than Hamilton House. We have nothing but praise for them. The staff are consistently caring, courteous, and cheerful.
My Mum has been at Hamilton House for 3 years now. Lots of changes have been made since new Manageress and Deputy Manager have been there. The lounge feels like a lounge at home. They welcome any personal items from home to make their room feel like they were still in their own home. A lovely fireplace has been put in the lounge on second floor by 2 very good handymen. If you have any worries at all about anything they are sorted straight away. Very happy relative.
Hamilton House treated my father with respect and looked after him superbly well during the last few weeks of his life. They treated us with kindness not chasing us for money which put less stress on us when father was not well.
My father is extremely comfortable in Hamilton House. There is a lovely welcoming atmosphere at the home and we are very pleased he is there.
Under the new management, which has been in place for more than a year, Hamilton House has become a very welcoming, thriving and organised place to be. I feel confident that my mum is being cared for in the best possible way. The staff are always happy to help with whatever request I have and are very caring toward my mum. I am thrilled that the home has achieved their Good CQC rating through their hard work and diligence.
My partner was only at this home one week because he took a sudden turn for the worst and passed away. However, the love and care he was shown at that time were second to none. This care was also extended to us, his family. My regret is I didn't get him into the home before.
It took a long time for mum to settle but with persistent care and attention from the staff, she is much happier. Nothing is too much bother and staff always polite. It was with reluctance I allowed her to go into care but very relieved about the choice made.
My mother spent the last seven months of her life at Hamilton House. From day one she was treated with great compassion, respect and care. Nursing care was excellent and all aspects of her daily life were first class. Carers were very gentle, activity ladies very kind, food varied and good, cleaning and laundry always done regularly and competently.
My mum was in this home for 7 months and she loved it there. The activities were very good and she enjoyed them very much. The gardens were wonderful, she enjoyed sitting by the fish pond most. Unfortunately, we lost Mum at the beginning of this year but I cannot fault the way my mum and the whole family were treated by all the staff. They could not do enough for us all once we knew Mum was at the end, we were even allowed to stay overnight so that Mum was with her family at all times. They couldn't do enough for each and every one of us, even once Mum had passed, the staff were wonderful. I would recommend this place with bells on.
Hamilton House is a modern purpose-built nursing home. The building design provides an outstanding environment for residents and staff - safe and clean with good equal access and garden/courtyard. It compares very well against other homes in the Portsmouth area - of which I visited (approx 7). The staff are all friendly and genuinely caring. The atmosphere of the home is outstanding - residents are treated with respect and dignity by full-time staff. My Mother's overall standard of health has improved due to the excellent care that she has received from the care and nursing team at the home. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to family and friends. In the time I have been visiting - approx 1 year - I have never seen a negative atmosphere. The friendly and caring environment helps improve the health of residents. In my opinion, this is an 'Excellent' Nursing home.
My husband has terminal cancer, has lost the use of his legs and needs personal and palliative care 24/7. He is very well cared for, pain-free and comfortable. He also feels safe and secure. He is treated by all staff with dignity and politeness and is as happy as he can be with the circumstances. The home is well run, clean modern and comfortable. I have also been looked after when I visit every day, visitors are welcomed.
First visit to Hamilton House, warm welcome by receptionist but what disappointed me was the smell of urine on the ground floor. This purpose built building is modern, single rooms are a fair size with ensuite bathrooms. The resident I visited is happy with her care and told me the staff are kind to her.
My mother was only in Hamilton House for two weeks before she died but she was treated very well indeed and the Manager runs her team extremely professionally and well. My mum really liked her.
The thought of putting my dad into a care home filled me with dread until my dad came to live at Hamilton House. The moment I stepped inside it felt like a "home from home". The wonderful carers who treat my dad with such respect and compassion always making time to ask him about his life and family. I love the communal areas where carers sit with the residents and have a well earned cup of tea with a lovely chat. The residents enjoy being part of their duties- watching them bustle about always busy but also finding time to simply chat or hold hands. This is what makes Hamilton House very special. I hear laughter and sometimes when a resident does something unexpected like kiss the hand of my baby I see a tear in their eyes. They really have a wonderful team on floor 1. If I end up needing care this is where I would like to be "home from home". My children love to visit their granddad and are always made very welcome. To know my dad/granddad is spending his precious time with these wonderful carers means everything to us so for that- I thank you.
