The staff are always around to offer support. The entrainment laid on by the staff is fantastic always engaging. You come away feeling your loved is really bring cared for. Thank you
So happy the Shrubbery had space to take my Mum as I had always heard good reports of this care home. They visited her in the hospital and we made arrangements for her to move to the home. The food is good. They provide lots of entertainment and things for the residents to do. She has her own bedroom and toilet and sink and they have been redecorating the building. All the staff are lovely and from day one they told us that we are family now and that's how it feels, like one big family.
The home and the carers are so kind and caring. They really look out for the residents and also their relatives. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. It is like a family. My mother has been there since February and is very happy there. We are so pleased that she can stay at The Shrubbery.
The Shrubbery care home has an excellent management and care staff team which gives the resident and their family the personal care and individual attention required to meet their needs. They treat us as family rather than clients and their warm and welcoming manner is evident in all of their interactions with us. We are so grateful and lucky to have the peace of mind that our mum is in excellent care and that she is surrounded by people who she can count on. A special thank you to the staff who has done so much to settle Mum and make us all feel proud to be part of the Shrubbery community.
Right from the day that my mum moved into the Shrubbery, I had no concerns about any aspect of her care. I visited my mum on a very nearly everyday basis, I live half a mile away from the Shrubbery and do shift work so I was popping in at most hours of the day and night, (after 8 pm is by prior arrangement) at no point was I concerned with anything, both for Mum and the other residents. The team at the Shrubbery is caring, professional and well-staffed at all times, the manager is most excellent at her job and this is reflected throughout the whole care team. Big thanks to the deputy manager, one of the many senior carers, and 'mum's girls' for looking after Mum so well right until her last days.
Delighted we chose this care home for our auntie, every time we visit we are made to feel welcome and we have every confidence that aunty is being cared for and this makes it so much easier when we leave. The whole environment is bright cheerful and clean and the entertainment provided is excellent and caters for all of the clients. I cannot fault The Shrubbery in any way, the communication we get is brilliant and we are happy knowing that she is in safe loving hands.
My father is currently a resident at The Shrubbery, sadly due to dementia. As he is a Higham man, born and bred, when the time sadly came for us to seek a care home for him, it was imperative that we found a facility as close to his home as possible. We were delighted by the welcoming attitude when we cold-called the home in June 2022 and the management could not have been more reassuring, supportive and helpful to us at what was a very difficult time. The facilities provided are excellent but more importantly, all the staff and management are simply wonderful people! So caring, welcoming and supportive, both to Dad and to my mother who makes regular visits and also to myself when I am able to make the trip to visit. We cannot thank everyone at The Shrubbery enough for everything they do for Dad and our family and would thoroughly recommend this facility to any other families that find themselves in the unfortunate situation of needing a care home for their beloved family.
My mum has lived here since April 2023, she has enjoyed taking part in numerous activities, the care and attention she receives is always fantastic. Back in December, she ended up in hospital, we were told she only had a couple of weeks left as her kidneys are failing, she was sent back to the care home for end-of-life care. Since she has gone home she has improved greatly, she is 95 so time is very precious, but she continues to enjoy life with the help and support that she receives on a daily basis. She receives a regular haircut and a manicure and pedicure. Her room is spotless and her clothes are changed every day. The food on offer is very nice with a couple of options every meal. This care home is brilliant!
The Shrubbery feels like home to my Mum. The staff are caring and considerate and they notice when the residents are not feeling their usual selves and will interact with them to help. There are regular activities for residents to join in with such as making mince pies, quizzes, fitness and sing-a-longs.
The manager and the team went above and beyond with the care and support for not only my mum but also her cat! Having complex medical issues, a terminal illness, Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia, my mother spends a lot of time chatting to her cat and her cat is an important companion, so mum would have been really distressed if she’d had to be separated from her. The team were so kind and supportive to us as a family during a very stressful time when my daughter and her newborn baby were both hospitalised with complications and we had complete peace of mind that mum was in the best possible care.
I stayed there for 6 months as I had a hip operation to do my rehab. All the staff and management were so kind and good that they all made me feel as if I was at home. They were so hopeful and kind and I was always looked after when I called for help. I had such a wonderful stay and enjoyed every minute I was there. If I was to go back for some other help I would be really willing to go back if I had the chance as I miss everyone over there. Lots of love.
The Shrubbery has recently seen many changes and appears clean and well-kept, as are the residents. They have entertainers in which they all seem to really enjoy. Both the manager and the carers are always ready to talk if you have any worries with your family member. We are so pleased we chose this care home for our relative.
My mum had been a resident of the Shrubbery since February 2017. It was very clear that all staff cared about her and looked after her, as well as us as a family. I felt that there was a real family vibe to the care home and they made us feel at ease. The team would contact us and update us with any issues most of the time. Her room was comfortable and there was entertainment there to keep her stimulated. Mum sadly passed away in November 2022 but I would recommend The Shrubbery to other families looking for dementia care for their loved ones. I can't thank them enough for the time and love they shared with my mum.
My mum and dad moved into The Shrubbery together in April 2018. They were welcomed by a lovely team of carers and had a room together. Dad had a brilliant hundredth birthday party in 2019 but sadly passed away a short time after. I visited Mum regularly and was always made welcome. There were always activities and entertainment, fun and laughter. My dear mum passed away peacefully in December 2022 at the age of ninety-eight. The care they both received during the time they lived at The Shrubbery was excellent. Thanks to all the staff that looked after them both.
I would firstly like to thank all of the amazing staff at The Shrubbery. The care and respect that they gave to my mother and ourselves were outstanding. Mum had many medical issues which were all treated with great care by well-trained staff, nothing was ever too much trouble. Sadly, Mum passed away in November, she was treated with the utmost dignity by all involved. I would not hesitate to recommend The Shrubbery to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.
My Mum has been a resident at The Shrubbery since the beginning of September 2021. The decision for her to leave home was a difficult one but the moment I went into The Shrubbery and met the manager and her team, the decision of which home to choose was simple. It's a decision I have not regretted for a moment. The level of care, kindness and understanding shown towards Mum is immeasurable. It was a major worry for our family how my mother would react to the transition from home to care home life and I can only say that the change happened seamlessly and this was totally due to the staff. Their planning, preparation and execution on the chosen day was faultless, as has been the care thereafter. I am so impressed with this home and its friendly staff, who seemingly go above and beyond in the hope of bringing a little joy and comfort to my mother's life. True devotion to duty, for which I can't thank them enough.
The standard of care is excellent with all staff being friendly, caring, helpful and the needs of residents and relatives being met. The wishes of residents and relatives were listened to and acted upon accordingly. The room was large and the furniture provided was comfortable, with the room being kept clean and tidy. A good choice of meals were provided for breakfast/lunch/dinner and drinks and snacks were provided throughout the day. All in all, a lovely place and in spite of covid lockdown etc, Mum enjoyed her stay.
My Mum is a resident at The Shrubbery, she has been there for almost 12 months now and the care and love she has been shown is immeasurable. We as her family cannot thank the staff enough, their dedication, kindness and hard work is second to none. Thank you to the Manager and all the staff at The Shrubbery you are doing an amazing job.
My Nan has been a resident for around a year. During that time, myself and family cannot fault the care of the team at the shrubbery. We are so grateful for the high level of care she has received. Even through such uncertain times, they have done everything they can to keep the residents safe, while keeping in touch with their families.
From the start of care at The Shrubbery our Aunt has, in my opinion, received excellent care and attention. I have never had any concerns for her welfare whilst in care. The staff are all friendly and approachable, we are kept updated on a regular basis. The facilities are very clean and well-appointed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their care and attention.
