The most outstanding aspect of Rykneld View is the staff. They are totally focused on the residents' care and never give up trying to do their best for them. I never met one member of staff who didn't treat Mum kindly and with the utmost respect and I was often amazed at how cheerful they were, even when dealing with the unpleasant bits of the job. Sadly Mum had Dementia but as her condition deteriorated and her needs increased, it gave her family great comfort to know that she was being cared for so well. A special mention must go to the home's Activity Co-Ordinator, what a truly amazing human being she is. She understands the needs of each resident and always goes the extra mile for them. Mum loved her and it was lovely to see how happy she was at her 90th birthday party in August. Sadly Mum died on 3 November 2024 but she was not alone and the last year of her life was the best it could have been thanks to the wonderful staff. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Rykneld View for several months. As a family we are so pleased how happy and settled she is. It is very much down to how professional and compassionate all the staff are with her care. Creating a fantastic atmosphere, all her needs are catered for which is a great comfort to us. There is a fantastic interaction with all the residents organising daily activities and social events. The home is very welcoming to all the family which makes visiting a lovely experience. Would have no hesitation in recommending Rykneld View.
Thank you for looking after and caring for my elderly mother. As it is the little things that matter to someone who is elderly. It is the events and social interactions that can make for a pleasant and enjoyable experience, not just for my mother but for the residents as a whole. The day-to-day experiences and interactions that can make for a pleasant day. Thank you again for caring and sharing these experiences with my mother to make her stay a happy and pleasant experience. Kind regards.
Rykneld View was one of our options when looking for a nursing home for our mother who has complex health needs. As soon as we visited to have a look around we knew we didn’t need to look any further. The family agreed that this was the ideal place because it was well equipped to deal with mothers' every need. The room available to us was spacious, clean and very well-presented. The management spent time with us and came over as being very professional and compassionate. This stood out. Everyone from management through to activity Co-ordinator, carers and even the onsite handyman are so welcoming, caring and friendly that it creates a wonderful family-like atmosphere within the home. There are plenty of activities and everyone is encouraged to get involved. Our mother has been there for two months now and we are all highly satisfied. Everyone from management down deserves credit as they do a fantastic job and we as a family can sleep at night knowing our mother is in safe and caring hands.
I find the staff and facilities to be outstanding. The care and compassion they have shown my dad since he's lived here is second to none. I have absolutely no concerns or worries where my dad's welfare is concerned. Since my dad has been here, he has improved enormously and is very happy here.
My dad has only just joined the care home, he was recently in another - the other never did anything with home at all, he was just left in bed 24/7. What a glorious change Rykneld View Care Home is, overwhelmed with happiness from all the staff, my dad gets up in a chair to be with other residents. Today the local nursery children came to visit, it was lovely to witness such a beautiful afternoon filled with singing and laughter. My dad's last few years will now be blessed and not worried, 100% bless you all.
I find the staff at Rykneld View are so friendly with me and my mum, they are very caring, polite and experienced. The rooms are clean and tidy with a tv in every room. They provide activities for all residents with special days like an owl came to visit, and games for all. The meals are good with a choice. I am allowed to telephone them when I like to check on Mum if there is anything I need to know they call me. I would recommend this caring home.
My aunt has been at Rykneld for three years. The home is bright and clean, and there is a friendly and homely atmosphere. Residents' wishes are respected (for example, whether they wish to be in communal areas or stay in their rooms, what they want to wear etc). The review policy states that staff should not be named, so I cannot mention particular people for their thoughtful acts, but I can tell you that the staff are extremely kind and put a lot of thought into trying to improve residents' lives. Throughout the difficult times of Covid restrictions, Rykneld has put the safety of the residents first and operated a very stringent set of measures to ensure that infection did not get into the home. Whilst this was frustrating from the point of view of seeing loved ones, looking back, I feel they acted to the best of their guidance, and it must have been a dreadful time for the staff, so they deserve our thanks for their dedication to their jobs at that difficult and stressful time.
The manager at Rykneld View is amazing - she consistently goes above and beyond, and under her direction, they have a fantastic team. We would not hesitate in referring friends and family members to them. Thank you.
My mum needed to go into a residential home until she could get back on her feet after a fall at home. She was living on her own after my dad passed away in 2020. After a few weeks, my mum got her spark back which we hadn't seen since my dad had passed away. This was down to the staff; they were friendly towards my mum and really helped her. Nothing was too much for them. You could see they cared about my mum. After a while, we knew my mum wasn't going to go home, and the staff was so good with my family. In the last week of my mum's life, the staff let all the family come and see my mum at any time of day, and they could stay as long as they wanted. At one point, the room was full. The Rykneld View staff was fantastic and that is down to all the staff. It isn't as expensive as some residential homes, but it is good for people that can't afford thousands a week. Thank you to all the staff at Rykneld View.
Mum became a resident at Rykneld View Care Home in June 2022, being in Rykneld View was a positive move, it was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere from all members of the staff which enabled her to flourish and become alive, her memory became sharp again. She liked to join in with the activities and if couldn’t alone be, supported by a member of staff. Mum was happy there until she sadly came to the end of her life in June 2023. The standard of care from going in and being looked after to being nursed at the end of her life was professional, compassionate, caring and friendly to both Mum and the family and was always made to feel welcome. The home was always clean and smelt nice. My only criticism is that it looks tired and needs updating.
I'm very happy with the care provided to both my parents. The staff are helpful, friendly, efficient and caring. The home is also clean, tidy and well run, and we are always welcome. I like the staff being so approachable and easy to talk to. They were especially careful during Covid lockdowns, and we appreciate that.
Rykneld View offers an exceptionally high degree of professional, caring, and friendly care service for my father. I am a former cabinet member for Social Services and Public Health on the Derby City Council and I am of the view that Rykeneld View is an excellent nursing and care provider.
I find Rykneld View a very friendly home with a nice atmosphere and lovely, friendly staff. My mum is happy there and she is being looked after very well. Also, the food is very good. They have made my mum's anxiety a lot better since she has been in there. Top marks.
My Mum was a resident at Rykneld View from November 2015 until December 2020 when she sadly passed away. My Mum was always treated with kindness and respect and was a very much loved resident. We too as her family were always made to feel welcome, and it was always a pleasure to spend time at the home, not only with my Mum but also getting to know all of the remarkable Team along the way. I always knew that Mum was safe and well cared for, even more so during the difficult times created by Covid 19, and for that, I will always be grateful.
My aunt lived at this home for four years. She was not the easiest person to get on with. But she was treated with care and consideration. If she was feeling ill, she was quickly looked after. In the end, she looked on the home as her home.
When she entered Rykneld in April 2017, we were advised by the hospital that it would be for palliative care. She thrived in the home, put on weight, and lived for four years. She had a good relationship with the staff, who care for her well. Although lately, there was a large turnover of staff, they seemed to take on the caring attitude. They could have been better at communicating with me as things changed and I was often surprised on visiting. More stability with management may have helped.
I cannot praise the staff at Rykneld View highly enough. My mother was a resident for over two years, and although confined to bed most of the time, was always well cared for, clean, comfortable and happy. We cannot thank all staff enough for their care whilst we were unable to visit due to Covid restrictions, and their nursing during her final weeks.
After having a stroke my mother-in-law was discharged from hospital to Rykneld View. This was a difficult time for the family particularly with the impact of COVID-19. We chose the home because on the website it claimed to cater to stroke and dementia patients. After about a month we were informed that they could not meet my mother-in-law’s needs. Eventually, she had to move to a different Nursing home. Her needs had not changed from discharge from the hospital. It was an extremely upsetting experience for us especially seeing the injuries she sustained after a series of falls. Please Rykneld View does not accept patients in the future and then decide you cannot cater for their needs. It is an extremely difficult decision putting a loved one in a nursing home and we did not expect that after 6 weeks she would have to move. Please sort out your website which says challenging behaviour, dementia and stroke care, you clearly can’t provide this or my mother-in-law would not have had to be moved.
The most important thing I can say about this home is that all the staff care, whether they are management, nursing and care staff or the support staff. As a family, we feel lucky to have found a home that we feel happy for Dad to stay in where he is safe and cared for.
