View Full Details of Charlton Grange Nursing HomeI found the care home very clean and the staff very friendly, also the food was very good.
My auntie is very happy and content here. She is engaged and active daily if she wants to but equally, she is able to rest and have quiet times if she needs it. The new management is much more proactive and hands-on and this is being reflected by staff also.
My mother has been a resident since February 2024. It was a challenge for her to be in a home when all she wanted to do was go "home". Every member of the team has been welcoming, empathetic and genuinely interested in making her feel welcome. This obviously helped the wider family be reassured that this is the best place for her.
This care home is badly managed. Since I chose this home for my father two months ago I have experienced very poor communication issues. Had to constantly request documents such as dad's care plan, which was woefully inadequate. And wasn't even given a contract, until I insisted on seeing one. Then I was reluctantly provided with a blank contract. The homes state they are suitable for residents with challenging Dementia behavior. Yet my Father has managed to abscond three times. The home has breached their duty of candour as I wasn't even informed of this till the third time it happened. Very poorly managed and to be honest, unsafe care.
After looking at several care homes in our local area we chose Charlton Grange. It has proven to be the ideal choice. My Mother-in-law receives the best care that we could ask for. The hard-working and friendly staff are compassionate and considerate towards her. It is also a great help that the home does not use agency staff so that Mum gets to see the same familiar faces. I couldn't recommend this care home highly enough.
My Mother has been in Charlton Grange for 22 months and is happy here. She enjoys all the activities and finds the staff friendly and helpful.
My mother was looked after extremely well during her time at Charlton Grange and was always treated with care and compassion. Considering she was unable to move from her bed without assistance, there were no more incidents of UTIs or any pressure sores, which is quite remarkable. My mother was able to join in with various activities in the first few years, but latterly less able to do so, but the staff still involved her as much as possible. When I was visiting, I was always offered tea and cake (which tasted great too). The home generally smelt clean and fresh and there is a lovely atmosphere throughout. I have recommended Charlton Grange to other people, as I believe it is a great, safe and caring home.
My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's early in 2022. After being cared for at her house with the help of agency carers/nurses, on the recommendation of carers of wives in a similar situation to ours, I arranged for my wife to become a resident at Charlton Grange - a decision I have never regretted. Despite her increasing illness and communication difficulties, all members of staff at Charlton Grange are always friendly, kind and considerate, right up to her leaving in February 2024.
My wife was a resident for over three years until she died on the 5th of November. I cannot speak highly enough of the carers and management whose care and support were unwavering throughout. I would unhesitatingly recommend Charlton Grange.
We had previously looked at this home but had discounted it. Following a management/leadership change, we looked again and couldn't have been more surprised with the changes that had taken place in such a short time. Caring staff, an excellent nursing team and a great doctor. Management team are engaged and really do put in a shift.
We went to visit our friends, only to find that the care home had organised what they call a carnival day. It was extremely well-organised with drinks and a barbecue, singer and a children's entertainer. Unfortunately, we had to leave early, but we are sure that the residents wold have had a great time. Activities were great on that day, but we cannot comment for other days.
Lovely afternoon for the carnival family weekend. Staff were lovely.
As a family, we are extremely happy with my mother's care, she is happy and content. Staff have gone over and beyond for my mother and supporting our family. I would definitely recommend Charlton Grange to family and friends.
This is a wonderful care home. All staff are hardworking, friendly, compassionate and dedicated. My mother was very happy here, sadly she passed away. The new manager is so nice and approachable, such an asset to Charlton Grange Nursing Home. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home to everyone.
All the care staff, from the most senior to the newest recruit, are gentle, caring and competent. I have only met one member of the management team based here and she was extremely competent and efficient. I understand that there is a new management team and judging from my contact, it should prove to be a most efficiently managed home. There is a very happy atmosphere, caring staff cooperate, ably led by their seniors - it's a happy, caring community.
Very friendly and caring staff. I feel valued as a visitor and informed of my mother's needs. Sometimes I feel at the weekend that the staff are not quite as knowledgeable about my mother's condition. I do worry when the nursing carers are different. I realise this can't be helped as everyone needs to take time off and I may be totally wrong. Saying that, I wouldn't want my mother to be anywhere else, she is at the end of her life and it mist be very difficult for everyone concerned. Obviously, everyone has their favourites and I know I'm not to mention names but a few are exceptional.
Our wonderful dad was a resident at this lovely care home for the last couple of years but very sadly passed away on Boxing Day 2022 at the grand old age of 97, just short of his 98th birthday! His time there, with Alzheimer’s, was a very confusing time for him but the love and care he received from all the staff and management was second to none, always spotlessly clean and shaven, clothes freshly laundered and hair regularly trimmed which was so important to us, as a family! His final hours were spent quietly and calmly with his family around him, a big thank you to all at Charlton Grange Nursing Home. Would highly recommend.
The staff were very caring and gave every consideration to my wife during her last few weeks.
I found the care home was very good. All staff were hard-working, compassionate, approachable and cheerful, whether they were care staff, nurses, laundry staff, the handyman, management, kitchen staff or cleaners. The standard of my room and the food was excellent. I enjoyed the weekly exercise classes conducted by a physiotherapist and there was a festive function for Halloween, which I also enjoyed. I felt safe in learning to walk again in this safe environment. A senior carer did hairdressing and even dyed my hair for me. A staff member found a rollator for me, which was very helpful, as the Zimmer frame given by the hospital, was of limited use. I am able to judge this establishment as a retired nurse.
This care home is first-class. My father is staying there for palliative care. The managers and all the staff had made my father very comfortable, happy and with all the 'end-of-life' care he needs. The whole family are so happy that my father is being looked after by all the special staff. We could not be happier! The managers and all staff are brilliant! Thank you!
