View Full Details of Barchester Hampton Grove Care HomeSadly, due to my father having dementia and having to consider the health of my mother, both 86 years old, we had to agree it was time to have him cared for. Being a healthcare professional myself, it was very daunting. However, Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home, from manager, reception and all the staff on the second floor, has been nothing but kind, caring and understanding of the whole family, not just my father and for that, I truly thank them.
My mum has been in this care home for nearly two years and she's very happy. The staff are amazing - caring, friendly and approachable and they go above and beyond to ensure residents are well looked after. The facilities are excellent, her room is lovely and nothing is ever too much trouble. When my sister or I visit, we're always greeted warmly and enjoy a great rapport with the staff. The manager truly cares about the residents, team and visitors. I appreciate being involved in regular updates and meetings, a pleasure to visit.
My mum moved here on 4th October from Leeds. She has been treated with kindness and consideration. Although initially was on the dementia floor, she has got dementia, but they moved her to the ground floor for a better experience, at my request. The home is clean and well-appointed. The bedroom is very spacious and modern, now with access to the garden!
Hampton Grove has a very nice and friendly environment. My mother-in-law seems quite happy and contented living here. The carers, the receptionists and especially the manager are so kind, thoughtful and helpful, from her very first day. We as a family along with my mother-in-law get on with them all very well. If ever a problem occurs it's dealt with quite quickly.
My mother has lived at Hampton Grove for the last two years and we have been very impressed with the home. She settled in quickly and is happy there. All staff are approachable, friendly, helpful and informative, and go out of their way to include her in the activities, which are many and varied. We are able to visit her any time and we get a weekly newsletter of activities. We recently celebrated her 100th birthday and the home arranged a wonderful party with food, cake and entertainment. She was thrilled, especially when the news turned up to interview her! It has given us peace of mind to know that she is well cared for, as we live some distance away and she was struggling to cope in her previous assisted accommodation.
A very friendly place with a home-from-home feel, the staff from the manager down, all seem to care equally. They have made mum feel at home from day one. The food is of an excellent standard, very tasty( mum's words) and a varied choice.
Our friend came to Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home on two-week respite. We had never had dealings with a care home and were very anxious about this and the thought of making this decision on behalf of someone we found very upsetting. No need to at all - the home is absolutely lovely and all the staff are so lovely, welcoming, caring etc. 100% no worries and all parties involved. 100% happy. Never seen our friend so happy in three years.
My mum has been in the home for five years. We moved her from London to Peterborough. She is very happy in the home. She has come out of her shell and is loved by so many of the staff. The administrator was the one who took the time to sit with us to go through things and answer our questions. I'm forever grateful for the care she showed us in 2019. The other homes we viewed were not as helpful. The manager goes above and beyond to help and answer any questions we have. I would like to say a special thank you to the unit manager, the care assistant and another member of staff. These carers always come and chat to me and let me know what Mum has been up to, as I don't see Mum every day. The chef, her door is always open and she was truly lovely about reassuring me that all Mum's dietary needs are being met. Mum enjoys the activities, especially bingo and dominoes. It's lovely when they invite singers into the home. She loves a little dance!
Both parents have been in this care home for nearly a year. The manager always goes above and beyond for my parents. She respects and cares for them both like they are family. Her door is always open for a chat I know I can speak to her about any worries. They are both well cared for. Mum's floor 3 is a lot nicer than Dad's floor 2 but I understand it is going to be refurbished. Mum really enjoys the activities but they are not always on. I would love for there to be more things for my mum to do. All staff are friendly and caring. Overall I am really pleased with the home. Will be fantastic once fully refurbished.
Managers help to explain what carer level needed; two weeks of respite care first, which we thought was excellent, so Mum stayed. Permanent care, Mum seems happy in herself now. Staff are great.
My elderly father transferred to Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home around a month ago from another care home. The level of care and support he has been shown has been outstanding. All staff have been amazing in helping his transition run so smoothly. Staff are friendly and approachable, willing and happy to help with anything to support him and have always put my dad’s health and well-being as their number one priority. He is being cared for with respect and dignity in a lovely environment where he is being encouraged to remain as independent as he possibly can. What has stood out the most is the fact he has been treated as an individual. The level of support offered to me has been invaluable also. Having had a negative experience at another care home, I have nothing but thanks and gratitude to all at Hampton Grove for their support. His well-being has improved greatly in just the short time he has been a resident and I am in no doubt that this is due to the high level of care he is being given by staff on a daily basis.
My overall impression of this care home is 10/10. I know that my mum is satisfied and happy here. The staff do their best for her. Every time I come, my mum is clean and tidy. My mum has a language barrier, but her lack of knowledge of English does not deter her from her satisfaction in this care home. Her room is always clean. She is also satisfied with the food and drinks provided here. She talks to me about the staff as if they were her friends. Also, the management of this care home is doing their best for me and my mum.
My mum has been living at Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home for the past fourteen months, she has vascular dementia and very little mobility now. I can honestly say this care home and all of the staff really care and have helped her and us transition into her new life. The management is always there to answer any questions and help anytime. If you do have a problem, it is always resolved straight away. The care team are wonderful with Mum, she is always showered, dressed, well taken care of and she is always treated with dignity and kindness. She has lovely meals provided as well as the extra cups of tea and cake! There are lovely trips to go on and entertainment each day provided by the excellent activities team. All of the staff, whatever their role in the care home, are simply amazing! They always make you feel welcome when you visit and they all help each other out. It's never easy having a loved one go into care but I know when I leave her after a visit, she is safe and very well looked after.
What can I say about this place? My uncle came here for some respite after a short spell in hospital, he liked it that much he decided he wanted to stay full-time which was amazing, he enjoyed the activities and started making new friends, he wasn't here for long as we lost him in January and even after I lost him, the staff were still amazing. I often think about what he would be doing or where he would be adventuring to with the activity staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I wish I had written this sooner but been struggling.
Oh my goodness, this care home is amazing! My mum went In for respite and settled in so well she stayed! All the staff have been amazing to my mum and my family. My mum had her birthday in there Tuesday and they spoilt her and even made her a cake. They make sure all her needs are met and are always helpful and cheerful. Thank you Hampton Grove. Also all the pictures on social media are lovely too.
All members of staff are easily approachable. Residents come first. Highly recommend.
My mother was a resident here, but died in December '23. Mum became unresponsive, but the care home did not notice, when informed by a visitor, they said "She's asleep". Mum's call bell had been taken from her room, so we will never know if she tried to get help or not. My mum died later that day in A&E, without ever regaining consciousness. The level of care afforded my mother was completely unacceptable. The Senior staff member was unhelpful and rude to us and Paramedics, giving false and misleading information to the 999 call handler and paramedics. Months on, still no explanation of when or why Mum’s buzzer had been disconnected and removed. To be fair, some of the more junior staff were very caring towards my mother during her stay and treated her kindly. If you are considering using this home for a loved one, be very careful. They present a great front, but behind the facade and glossy sales pitch, it is a very, very different place. Reported to the Manager, CQC and Safeguarding.
A good team all-round, very happy with all, I understand it's hard work but the staff are the best. I am very happy that my wife is here and I know she likes it as well. Thank you all.
I came for respite care for a month back in July. I loved it so much that I returned and became a permanent resident here at Hampton Grove. The staff are lovely and caring, they respect me and give me dignity at all times. I enjoy going out with activities. I have now become the resident ambassador for the home.
Lovely staff and carers. My father seems quite comfortable. Nice, clean rooms. I visit most days and am made to feel welcome too!
