View Full Details of Victoria HouseCame to the home to visit a friend just before Christmas. The home was nicely decorated and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were offered tea or coffee. Our friend was well looked after, was happy, and had a very good rapport with the staff who were very attentive. It truly felt like a home from home. Although we visited in her room, you have to walk past the residents lounge and they all seemed to be engaged with the activity and happy.
My Mother-in-law became a resident in December 2024, and we have seen a massive change in her since she has been at Victoria Lodge back to being herself. The care she receives is above and beyond. A lovely home and has lovely staff.
My mother received almost three months of first-class, genuinely human, good-humoured care from the Victorian House team. The management was always quick to respond to my enquiries (I live outside the UK) regarding my mother's progress in recovering from a stroke, bad shoulder fractures, and long immobilization in hospital. They were also great at coordinating visits and ongoing treatment from NHS medical and physiotherapy staff. Strongly recommended.
I visit the home most weeks as I have a friend who is a resident there, she seems very happy since being at Victoria House, staff always make us feel welcome and it is nice to see my friend looking so happy when we visit.
What an absolute disgrace of a care home, how they have treated my nan should feel ashamed of themselves! Money stolen, workers shouting in her face! Kicking her out and trying to send her into a hospital so you don't have to have her at your home when she is not sick. Taking a woman who is 87 out of her home to be stuck in a hospital for months so then they can reject her coming back! No transport made for her to go into her new care home, so lucky my nan has the family she does! Place needs investigating! Elders deserve respect, dignity, and attentive care, but unfortunately, that is not what we've experienced here!
Wonderful home which looked after my mum and mother-in-law over many years. They were both very happy there. The staff were very caring, dedicated and compassionate. I cannot recommend it too highly. I would be happy to be there when the time comes.
Warm and friendly on every visit. I have always been made to feel welcome in a family atmosphere. Good tea and cake. Made to feel at home. Staff are very knowledgeable about residents' needs and wishes. Staff are always accommodating to visitors and residents.
Very happy time spent at Victoria House. Staff were so helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Food was exemplary thanks to the chef. Would recommend staying at Victoria House to anyone with needs.
I was very reluctant to have my husband go into care as I had cared for him it was not what we wanted. But circumstances changed this. The care and kindness shown to us have been wonderful. All the staff have been so helpful! I would recommend Victoria House to anyone. In fact, if I need care that's where I shall go. Thank you all.
My father has settled in very well and enjoys the company and security provided by the staff. I'm very pleased we found Victoria House. He has a pleasant room, enjoys the food and there is a homely atmosphere. The staff have shown they understand his needs, likes and dislikes and adapted accordingly. Nothing is too much trouble.
My husband spent the last six months of his life at Victoria House Care Home. He had previously spent six months in another home and he was not treated well. At Victoria House he was happy and he was treated with respect. All the staff were wonderful and my husband was comfortable and happy there. (2021-2022) I also spent two weeks of respite care at Victoria House. I was treated very well and was happy. One minor detail, some of the furniture needs updating.
The staff are very caring, friendly and cheerful. There is a lovely dining room with fresh flowers and an excellent choice of food for every meal. There is live entertainment every month, arts and crafts, etc, and a hairdresser and chiropodist come in regularly. Victoria House is very well managed, and relatives are kept well informed.
Suits our needs.
Victoria House is a very homely care home. I have found the managers and carers to be caring and very professional. They have done a great job keeping covid out of the home under difficult times. My relative is often praising their kindness, nice food, and enjoyable entertainment. I hope the home will continue to be a great place to work and live for all involved.
Because of the covid, we were unable to visit my aunt. The travel was difficult. We were only allowed 1 hour so by the time we would get there it would be time to travel home, but we understood. The home always gave feedback of any change.
My Dad has been in care since January 21, we moved him to Victoria House from another care home on the island in August 21. The move was made because we live in Ryde and it's easier for us to visit him there, but we also had concerns that he was spending too much time on his own in the previous home and he was becoming very withdrawn. Almost immediately after the move we noticed an improvement in his well-being and his engagement with us. Victoria House has a lovely 'homely' feel to it and the residents are treated as part of the 'family' by the staff. From what I have seen there is a lot of interaction between the staff and the residents. No one really wants their elderly relative to have to live 'in care' but I am very grateful that we found Victoria House. I am confident that he is now receiving a very good level of care, is being well looked after and is made as comfortable as it's possible to be in that situation. I have no hesitation in recommending Victoria House.
My mother was very well taken care of in Victoria House care home from November 2019 to July 2021. She was very pleased to take part in all the art and craft sessions as she has previously done many oil paintings. She enjoyed the different foods on offer and especially liked the view out over the Solent from her room. The staff offered care, support and friendship and she received good health care through various illnesses. This is a home from home with resident consideration at all times.
A good all-round, very nice and caring place for my mum. Initially, the cost was a bit of a surprise, but after looking around, you can't get any better. It's handy and as I've said, very good.
Mum has been in Victoria House since December 2014 and has been very happy there. Although the front entrance is not particularly welcoming there is always a warm welcome from the staff inside. The staff are always friendly and treat the residents with care and dignity. The quality of care is excellent and always carried out in a professional and compassionate way while the food is of a high quality. The care that mum receives gives me great peace of mind and I would have no hesitation in recommending Victoria House to anyone seeking care provision.
Very satisfied with the care provided. My sister could be difficult but the staff handled the problems very well. Don't be put off by the entrance to the home. It is the care that matters.
