My mom has been here for a few years now. She seems content. The staff have been very caring and good with her and she is getting more mobile with the help of the carers and mixing with the other residents which is wonderful. Also joining in with some of the activities.
Staff always pleasant. My friend is always kept clean and well-fed.
The care given is good. The home itself needs money to spend on it as its facilities are very basic. There needs to be more staff as the care team are always rushed. The meals are basic and there needs to be more variety. The manager tries hard to make things go smoothly but without enough staff, this can be difficult. I would like to see staff in the sitting rooms, chatting and doing activities with the residents.
Very friendly staff - patient, kind, and fun. Always clean and tidy. Overall positive energy and is a nice place to be.
An excellent home! My mother was there for over 2 years from 2018 and was treated like one of the family. The staff were wonderful, the food excellent and we were always welcome to visit whenever we wanted and for as long as we wanted to be there. She was treated with respect throughout the time she was there which included the early weeks of COVID-19 when she sadly passed away (not in any way due to Covid). While my mother was there my aunt spent a month of respite care there and now that she is in need of 24-hour care has chosen to go back as a resident where she feels she has never been away and has been welcomed back by mainly the same staff who were there before.
What a charming, warm, and caring residential home. We reached out to these ladies in a complete crisis, a member of staff first assessed my aunty followed by the Manager, who agreed they could help with my aunt's needs. From assessment to walking through the door, we knew the decision was right. My aunt was settled into a room with a pretty view of the gardens, the sun shone through her window and we could hear the birds outside. Her furniture was very tidy and clean. We unpacked and again aunts' needs were met with What would you like to eat? We all joked we were staying for tea as it looked lovely. We've been many times now, myself and family and we have all commented on the home, its cleanliness, efficiency, and warm greeting. The staff updates you on any concerns, needs, and everything else in between. Which is a great comfort. The hairdresser has been and my aunty looked beautiful. Her clothes are clean and no one sits there with half their lunch down them! Highly recommend!
Mum came in for a short stay following a fall and was made to feel so welcome and looked after that she decided she would like to be a permanent resident when it became obvious that she would not be able to go home. The home itself is small and homely. There is always a welcoming atmosphere when we visit.
Mum has been a resident at Charnwood for 6 months. In this period I am happy that she has been well cared for. All staff are friendly and approachable. The manager is always on hand to answer any questions or concerns we may have. Meals are always freshly prepared and look tasty. The home always looks and smells clean and fresh. Mum is always well-presented and chooses what she would like to wear.
I visited my aunt and was welcomed by the staff. The home was warm and cosy and residents were well cared for and dressed well and no odours in the home. The residents had all got drinks and had been given festive sweets. There was a hot meal which smelt appetizing. It was very pleasing and put your mind at ease. Well done.
My aunt has been living at Charnwood for two years. She enjoys the food and has a good relationship with her carers. My greatest criticism is that apart from a charity event that doubled as a celebration of my aunt's 100th birthday, I don't think there have been any activities this year. The residents sit in two small lounges dominated by a tv.
Today we visited our aunt at Charnwood Residential Care Home. We found her in very good care, liked the home and likes staying there. The staff were extremely courteous and while visiting her we were offered a nice cup of tea and had our own little private room with just my husband and self. Would certainly recommend the home without hesitation.
Staff are like family, the care needs of residents are paramount with care and full attention. Rooms are small but comfy. Diet or special needs are always attended to with care. Cannot fault staff, especially during these bad times of pandemic and the resultant extra work of maintaining visitors are all clear of any infections. So content that my mother is receiving the care and affection she needs.
Staff all care about the residents they care for. I have witnessed numerous small incidents of kindness whilst visiting my mom. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Staff always put residents' care and needs first. Everyone, residents and family, are treated with respect and they keep you informed about your relative. Activities are planned, such as the pub trip on 22 May, to give residents variety and interaction with others. Charnwood is a very comfortable and calm home with a happy and friendly atmosphere. The staff feel like extended family and have given me peace of mind concerning Mum's care.
Always welcoming and ready to help. Mom is happy to be cared for by the team at Charnwood.
Caring, clean, proactive, responsive, responsible. Homely environment, plenty of activities, nice garden. The premises could do with some repairs (minor maintenance) and is clearly not purpose built. Rooms are small, garden not easily accessible.
