View Full Details of Glenhurst ManorMy parents continue to receive excellent care at Glenhurst Manor. The care is very good, respectful and compassionate. Activities great. Food is very good. It is reassuring to see my parents receiving such positive support to enable them to enjoy this stage of their lives. Thank you to all the staff.
My experience of Glenhurst Manor has been very positive. My mother had to go into care very unexpectedly and quickly. The manager came to assess Mum within 24 hours and supplied a wheelchair to enable Mum's transport to the home and everything was ready for Mum to be admitted the next day. What I notice about Glenhurst is the warmth of the staff and how they focus on engaging with Mum even when I'm there and interfere! That said, they engage positively with me as well. Mum has settled in better than I could have imagined. There is a homely feel to Glenhurst - even though it's a lovely rather stately property- that is very comforting. The food is very good indeed. The place is spotless and there is a real focus on infection control. Mum suffered from a persistent and distressing bedsore for many years, after just a couple of months in the care of Glenhurst Manor my mum's bedsore has all but healed, even though she is mostly bedridden.
My experience of dealing with Glenhurst Manor has been consistently positive. Since my mother arrived she has been treated kindly and respectfully by all staff and when I have visited I have always been greeted in a cheerful manner. Whenever I have phoned with an enquiry, I have always had polite and helpful responses from care staff or administrators. Obviously, as with so many elderly people, my mother would prefer to be in her own home, but the home she has at Glenhurst Manor is providing her with warmth, safety, nourishment, company and, occasionally, help with health needs to a much higher level than she could ever have done for herself. She has gradually come to terms with the fact that she is now living in the best place she can be.
The staff were excellent during my dad's stay here until he passed away. However, my rating of one star is totally directed at the manager at this facility. She had no compassion or care for my family during this difficult time. She only seemed to care about herself, clearly has little communication with the staff and has left me and our family feeling so disappointed. She has no people skills and is happy to hurt people's feelings when they are at their lowest after the passing of a loved one.
My friend never wanted to go into care, having seen how some of her local care homes were managed. When she could no longer manage at home, her solicitor recommended Glenhurst Manor. My friend was really happy there. The staff were so kind, patient and thoughtful, meeting her needs with respect. As a visitor, I was welcomed and made to feel important. Nothing was too much trouble. My friend's room was clean and bright with lovely soft furnishings. She enjoyed the food immensely. She could not speak highly enough of her care. She has recently passed away but I take comfort from the fact that she was happy and we'll looked after.
My grandma lives here and we wouldn't want her anywhere else... Staff are absolutely fantastic, the food is excellent and freshly made. It's nice to know that she is so well cared for and enjoying her life. Very homely environment. Nothing is too much trouble.
My mother was living here for 9-months. She was not in the best health. The staff were absolutely wonderful with her. They were all so patient, helpful, encouraging and always let her keep her dignity. She was a very proud, self-conscious lady who was really not wanting help, although she needed it. Nothing was too much bother, the manager always said that she could have whatever she wanted. I can't thank them all enough.
I felt very nervous but Reception were excellent. Caring staff were excellent in taking charge of any requests. They made me relax and I observed their caring attitudes to others needing general assistance. My family immediately noticed my improvement in my health and general attitude. I thank all staff for such good care.
Facilities and treatment excellent. Staff welcoming and cheerful. Clients treated with respect and kindness.
My wife entered Glenhurst Manor in August 2018 and remained there until her death on 3 August 2019. She suffered from Parkinson's Disease which got progressively worse and latterly she was unable to do anything for herself and could not speak, although her mind was clear right to the end. I cannot speak too highly of the patient loving care provided by all the staff at Glenhurst, management, carers, chefs and kitchen staff nothing was too much trouble. She was taken into hospital shortly before she died but they could do nothing more for her and she returned to Gelnhurst, she died peacefully a few days later.
My relative loves Glenhurst and is very happy here. Both the staff and the level of care is top-notch. Also, the food is really good - restaurant quality.
My mother 91yrs has been in Glenhurst nearly 2 months. Back in early April she fell and broke her right collarbone and left wrist. She then spent a month in a rehab home and then due to heart problems spent nearly 2 months in various wards in hospital. The family and my mother thought her time had come and we all prepared for the worst. My mother was discharged from hospital but we faced the fact that mum could not go back home. The change in my mother since arriving at Glenhurst has been so incredible. She is eating and drinking again, interacting with other residents and staff and has almost bounced back again to her happy self. Partaking in painting classes, flower arranging and enjoying this very fine retirement home. I have spoken with staff, residents and their families and all I hear is good things. Nothing is too much trouble. I know my mother is safe and being well cared for and that makes her family happy, as this what a great mother deserves at her time of life.
The care at Glenhurst is extremely good and very personal. All staff members are extremely polite and caring. Glenhurst must be one of very few homes that have a fantastic chef, rather than a cook. All food is fresh and homemade.
My mother spent her last weeks and days at Glenhurst Manor, during which time, she received the finest care possible. The staff demonstrated compassion, kindness and empathy and mum just adored them all. The senior staff treated me wonderfully and kindly as mum declined and nothing was too much trouble. I have nothing but praise for Glenhurst Manor and would recommend it to anyone who may need their first class care.
From the first moment entering Glenhurst Manor, you can feel at home. Staff are kind and welcoming. Residents are well cared for and visitors can enjoy seeing their family or friends. The bedrooms are comfortable and the communal areas - lounge, dining room, garden - are attractive and well maintained.
Management and staff are always helpful to visitors. The nurses and carers stay at Glenhurst over long periods, only a quicker turnover amongst young carers. My relative needs total care, unable to do anything for herself, but is visited every 10 to 15 minutes. The care and attention given is remarkable. My cousin has been at Glenhurst for over two years and is now 91. The family relatives are all cousins and many live far from Bournemouth but all are so grateful that their cousin is looked after in such a beautiful, peaceful and kind environment.
Dad arrived at Glenhurst at the beginning of January 2018. Glenhurst has exceeded my expectations in all aspects. Professionally managed, the Glenhurst team have enabled Dad to settle quickly in his new surroundings. His nursing needs have been met brilliantly and he is happy and contented. Everybody is friendly and courteous and nothing is too much trouble.
From the moment you walk into Glenhurst Manor you are made to feel very welcome, both as a temporary resident as my mother was and as a visitor. The staff are warm, friendly and very accommodating to the needs/routines of the individual and nothing was too much trouble. They communicated well between themselves and with my mother, as well as keeping me informed of any changes. The food was also excellent. It was well presented and delicious with a varied menu - the main meal of the day was always something my mother looked forward to! Her room was always looked after well and when my mother did initially need help with her personal hygiene and dressing, the staff always took their time and respectfully helped my mother to maintain her high standards. I can't thank all the staff enough for all their kindness and care and I know we will be back again when my mother needs another "holiday"! THANK YOU!!!
