View Full Details of Kings LodgeWonderful staff who are all professional, kind, and caring. I have worked in care for over 40 years, and I am really impressed with the high standards and compassion that are shown to my mother, who has Alzheimer's. The activities have been a real bonus for us as my mother can join in and feel valued. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit. The manager has provided invaluable support and reassurance to me. I can't thank them enough for making such a positive difference in both our lives.
My Nursing Home search for FIL started in Spring 2024. After research, the family decided on Kings Lodge. He moved in June 2024. He has complex nursing needs and poor mobility. Although a few niggles arose - overall the care he has received in the past 6 months has been excellent. Every member of staff is polite, friendly and helpful. The activities team are amazing, the Christmas Panto was brilliant. There are regular themed events. They organise Chess for him. His mobility has deteriorated - KL worked hard with him to slow this down. He likes the food. It has a room for private family events. His care team is exceptional, one in particular. I'm informed of changes and concerns, but he is as independent as he wants. Another staff member in particular was a great help in settling him in and supporting us as a family. The maintenance team have been a great help. As a family, we are delighted with the standard of care he receives. It gives us all complete peace of mind, which is priceless.
Kings Lodge cared for my Father for the last few months of his life. I cannot praise the fantastic staff enough. My father was looked after with complete dignity and compassion throughout. The staff are thorough and professional and the property was always super clean. I cannot praise these people enough and they will always hold a special place in my heart for how they cared. Thank you.
I cannot express my heartfelt gratitude to King's Lodge and its staff for the exceptional care provided to my Mother. She stayed here was for about 18 months, arriving in a fragile state with Alzheimer's. During her stay, she regained strength and happiness with the staff's love, compassion, and professionalism. The nurturing environment created by the staff allowed my Mother to feel loved in order for her to settle into the home. The staff improved her quality of life and enriched her spirit, making her time there memorable and fulfilling. Her end-of-life care was outstanding and peaceful. I cannot thank you enough.
My father was admitted to Kings Lodge in November 2023 with quite an aggressive at times dementia. With care and good supervising and nursing they managed to get his condition under control. Making him and myself a lot happier. Unfortunately, his health started to deteriorate a couple of months ago and he was diagnosed with cancer. Kings Lodge managed his end of life with wonderful care, compassion and dignity. Wonderful team. Thank you.
My Mother has just finished her 2nd respite holiday at Kings Lodge. She enjoys being in a happy caring environment, enjoys the activities, and has built relationships with staff members from her last visit. It gives me great comfort to know that Mum is safe well fed, well rested, and cared for with kindness. We look forward to her next holiday at Kings Lodge As I care for my mum 24/7 a holiday is very important to me the Manager and her team have been polite and friendly to myself and my husband which also makes it possible for us to approach Kings Lodge again with confidence. Thank you to all the staff.
Outstanding caring and support from all members of the staff. The dedicated care and treatment that our mother has received has had an incredible impact on her wellbeing. She has settled down to her new home environment; initially she was of very poor health. Six months later the transformation has far beyond our expectations.
My father lived at King's Lodge since December 2021 when he became unable to safely care for himself at home. The location and room facilities are excellent and I can only praise the team there for the care and support he received. Much of this period was unfortunately during 'covid times' which put limits and restrictions on access and entertainment which could be provided, although the team clearly did all they could to keep residents engaged - never easy with the differing levels of residents' abilities. In particular during his latter days, I can only commend the care he received.
Mum is coming up on two years here now, and I am evermore grateful for the care she receives at Kings Lodge. It is not uncommon for someone with Alzheimer's to experience decline, but it seems quite the opposite with my mum. She is noticeably calmer and more readily engaging in activities. It is clear the staff don't simply care for her, they truly enjoy having her on the floor. Living in the US, I am not able to visit as often as I would like. I can honestly say I can't imagine a better place for her to be.
The level of care and respect given to my brother is excellent. He can be a little aggressive in his behaviour at times but this is dealt with by the carers in a quiet and positive way. All of the carers are happy and smiley and kind. I would certainly recommend Kings Lodge as a place of safety, comfort and good food for anybody's nearest and dearest relations.
My sister was moved to Kings Lodge last January 2023. She has advanced dementia but I wondered if she would still remember, and miss her home. In the past year, she has settled very well and looks much less stressed and much happier than she was before. I think the staff have made her feel safe, loved and respected. Also, there seem to be lots of activities that she really likes. She was a gifted primary school teacher before and I think all the creative activities she does now tap into the creative person she was and this gives her joy. I am so grateful for this. It is a great relief to see that she is in a safe, friendly and fun place now. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff.
Mum was transferred to Kings Lodge in March 2021 when Covid restrictions were still in place. At the time, the management and staff did an incredible job in welcoming Mum, assessing her needs and getting her settled in. They also provided comfort and support to me during social distancing. Although Covid restrictions are no longer in place, the level of care, respect and consideration is still at the highest level. All the staff provide an outstanding service and are now an extension of Mum’s family - it’s so lovely to see how Mum interacts with them all. During a recent stay in hospital, Mum deteriorated and was not in a good way when she was discharged. However, the joint efforts of the Kings Lodge team enabled Mum to rally. I cannot thank them enough. Kings Lodge provides amazing comfort and support to myself and my relatives too - so grateful.
My husband suffers from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a little known neurological disease, and has been a resident for twelve months. He has no speech or way of communication and can do nothing for himself. The staff have soon identified his needs and have worked tirelessly in keeping him comfortable, clean and stimulating his interest. Every member of staff is friendly and I feel his needs are met and I am always welcome.
I found a very responsive, caring team taking excellent care of my elderly sister who suffers from Alzheimer's. As I do not live in the UK, it was a huge relief to know she is safe and is in the hands of such a competent group of caregivers! The staff also seem to welcome any suggestions or questions family members might have. The surroundings are clean, comfortable and colourful too. I have been most impressed. Thank you all for providing a new and suitable home for my sister!
My mother has been at Kings Lodge for four and half years now. When she arrived, she was very unhappy and I felt she probably only had months to live. Since then, she has been looked after so well and so kindly that she is more contented than I have seen her in decades. I love the fact that if she didn’t feel like getting up early one day (she’s never been a morning person) she could have a lie in and that the care is tailored to the individual requirements of residents. I also love the way that residents are entertained and encouraged to participate in a range of activities and given choices wherever possible. I am so grateful to all the staff who do such an amazing job in making Kings Lodge such a special place, where people are made to feel so at home.
My wife was admitted to Kings Lodge for end-of-life care, suffering from chronic cognitive impairment, hyperactive delirium and chronic leg ulcers. Such was the amazing quality of care given by the staff that now, nearly 9 months later, she has recovered sufficiently to return home. This has been a remarkable achievement by all concerned and I cannot praise them highly enough. Thank you so much you have been fantastic.
Kings Lodge looked after Mum brilliantly. Mum left the hospital after five bad weeks with a chest infection and mild pneumonia. Kings Lodge nursed her so well in her 11-day stay. the one to one care around the clock was first class. Mum was 90% blind, had mild dementia and had lost the use of her legs. Mum was 95 years old and had always been very fit. She rapidly went downhill in the hospital. Kings Lodge gave the best possible end-of-life care. We thank them greatly.
Our brother was admitted into your care and spent just over seven weeks at Kings Lodge. He was cared for by your amazing staff, who went above and beyond the call of duty. Kings Lodge and its wonderful staff made his last few weeks of life as comfortable as possible. They allowed him his dignity. They made us, as relatives, very welcome, and Kings Lodge will always have a special place in our hearts.
My husband, who has dementia, has been a resident at Kings Lodge for over a year and I cannot praise highly enough the treatment he receives there. He is very difficult in many respects as well as being negative about every element of his life, but the staff go above and beyond in their efforts to make him as comfortable and contented as possible. They ensure he has alternative options when he says he does not like a meal, monitor his medication, encourage him to engage in activities and take great care that he is safe and secure and help prevent him from having falls - a pressure pad has just been placed in his room, for instance. The facilities at Kings Lodge are excellent and he has a comfortable room with an attractive view, en-suite shower room, TV etc. The staff, as well as being highly professional, are dedicated, friendly and helpful at all times. My daughter and I appreciate all they do for my husband.
Our father was looked after sympathetically and with great care and understanding. Although he was only with Kings Lodge for a relatively short time we looked forward so much to his attendance after a long stay in hospital and felt that he would really benefit. After our father passed, I couldn’t fault in any way, the level of dedication that the staff demonstrated.
