View Full Details of Hambrook MeadowsMy mother came to live with my husband and I at home when we realised she could no longer look after herself. After 6 years I realised we had a major decision to make as we could no longer cope. After visiting several residential homes a neighbour recommended Hambrook and my problem was instantly resolved, from our first visit it was clear. The staff were friendly and open, the building and facilities were homely, clean and comfortable, we had a choice of rooms and could take many personal items to make Mum feel at home. The medical care was professional and organised due wholly to the fantastic staff and management. We are always made welcome to visit, even back in the concerning times of the pandemic. I would totally recommend Hambrook with no concerns at all, to anyone who finds themselves in my position.
My brother has been a resident in this excellent care home for two years plus. The home is spotlessly clean, the meals are appetizing and nutritious, and his room is always kept tidy and inviting. The staff are of a very high calibre, always friendly, caring and sympathetic to all of his needs. The management keeps me fully informed of any medical conditions that arise and things that he may want, and they go out of their way to put on small events that help keep the residents interested and content. In summary, a first-rate care home that looks after my brother with kindness, care and compassion.
I feel my mother-in-law has accepted the fact she now needs to be in a care home due to mobility issues and Hambrook Meadows is doing their utmost to make her experience as positive as possible. We are now more relaxed knowing she has proper care.
We feel blessed to have found Hambrook Meadows! The care is first class... the staff are all lovely... the manager is simply amazing. We have friends with their own elderly loved ones in various care homes, and we hear some less than flattering testimonials... nothing really awful, but still enough to make the resident periodically uncomfortable. Hand on heart, we have never had cause for concern at Hambrook Meadows, and it has to be said, for a good deal less than a lot of people are paying for care in this area. The place is clean, the food is good, the quirks of the individual residents are catered for as much as possible, the care and love shown to residents is heart-warming, the communication with the family is superb, and as a visitor, you always feel that you are welcome.
Hambrook Meadows is the best care home I have had experience of, and that is amongst many. It is a lovely, friendly and caring place that looks after all residents with the utmost care, respect and compassion. It has a family feel about it, and the staff are always welcoming. Communication is informative and welcome. I could not recommend Hambrook more highly.
Hambrook Meadows is a real home-from-home. Mum feels safe and cared for and is very happy there. Nothing is too much trouble for the amazing staff. Staff stay here so you always see familiar faces when you visit, and staff are very well qualified. They know every resident extremely well, noting their likes/dislikes as well as hobbies and interests. They provide a variety of activities to keep the residents engaged and as active as they can. They provide home-cooked meals daily and take account of all dietary needs/allergies, etc. The communication between staff and families of residents is excellent, and we are kept up to date with newsletters as well as photos. Not only is it a wonderful home that looks after the residents exceptionally well, but they also look after their families by taking away the stress and worry of caring for a loved one with complex needs. I couldn’t wish for my mum to be anywhere else, and I am so pleased she is living there. It is a very special, unique home.
Hambrook Meadows is a fantastic care home. The staff are lovely and always go above and beyond to make sure the residents are well cared for. My mum is so happy there, as she feels safe and so well cared for. I cannot fault the care given to her from when she moved there a few years ago, particularly over Covid. A lot of the staff have been there a while, so it is nice to see familiar faces when visiting. The home has a lovely, welcoming feel to it, and you can tell that all the residents are well cared for. Mum is so happy there she has even suggested that my sister and I put our names down to live there!
My father was a resident at Hambrook Meadows for seven years, and the care he received has always been excellent. He passed away in September 2023, and the care given to him in his final weeks, and to us as family was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and we were grateful for their care and support. Hambrook really is a caring and comfortable place, staffed by a dedicated team of professionals. I don't think we appreciate our care home staff enough. The Hambrook ladies regularly go above and beyond. Thank you.
Dad came to Hambrook Meadows for what turned out to be the last couple of months of his life. He was able to take all his own furniture and bits into his newly decorated room, and it was very cosy, as he used to say - home from home. Dad was very happy there, he enjoyed the repartee with the staff. Every effort was made by the staff to make sure he didn’t want for anything. The family lived a distance away, and there was always someone who would take him to an appointment if we could not get there. We were always kept up to date with any changes in Dad's condition, and all the staff were very caring and would often go the extra mile. The support given to the family was amazing - we were all so impressed. No restrictions on visiting times or the number of people allowed in. We were so well looked after on Dad's final day, endless tea, coffee and sandwiches. I think the tears in the eyes of the duty staff said it all; they really do care about the residents.
My mother was a resident here for 3-years, over which time, she suffered from increasing dementia and reducing mobility. Throughout mum's time at Hambrook Meadows, the manager and her staff looked after my mum with such care and dignity, always treating her as if she were family. Despite the increasing difficulty with communication and mental function, all the staff were so kind and caring and treated Mum as the lady she once was, never treating her like a child or a burden. My sister and I are so grateful to the manager and all her staff for the excellent care that they provided, including sitting with her and holding her hand at the end, when we could not be there in time. Mum really enjoyed her life at Hambrook Meadows because of the level of care, compassion and friendliness provided by all the staff, always going far beyond their duties to take her dog walking or cater for any of her wishes. My sister and I would both strongly recommend this home to anyone who may be considering using it.
Hambrook Meadows provided Dad with a safe and caring place to live. Everyone’s different! Staff at the home were able to cater for the ups and downs that are part of getting old, whilst always keeping positive. For me the realisation that Dad was comfortable, was when he said that Hambrook Meadows was his home now and that he was happy to be there.
My father was a resident for nearly 3 years, in all that time he was looked after by the amazing team of staff from the management down to the cook and cleaners. Hambrook is a lovely family-run home where we were always made welcome and Dad was cared for excellently. He was very independent when he first moved in but as time went on he needed a lot more care and help with washing, dressing and even eating. His room was always kept clean, bed linen changed regularly, his clothes were always ironed and he hardly ever misplaced items. He always looked smart. When he became unsteady on his feet, pressure mats and pads were put in place even in the garden where he loved to be outside as much as he could if the sun was shining. He had trouble swallowing and his diet was catered for by the cook brilliantly who always kept an eye on his weight and the amount he ate. The home is calm and homely with the opportunity to join in activities .i would recommend this lovely place to live.
The standard of care for my husband has been excellent. He has considerable problems which have all been dealt with sympathetically and thoughtfully. The building has its drawbacks and although efforts are made, some parts of it lack modern amenities such as internet access, and adequate showering facilities. Other residents are friendly and there is a good, positive and confident atmosphere.
My stepmother has Alzheimer’s. When it became necessary for her to move into care, I was very concerned to find the right home for her. Hambrook Meadows is perfect. It has the atmosphere of a large family house. It is a joy to visit my stepmother. The management and staff are happy, welcoming, approachable and extremely caring to both visitors and residents. All my stepmother’s needs are taken care of including her perfectly manicured nails and the home-cooked food. She is very happy and I am very happy knowing she is in a safe caring environment.

My mother passed away in January after a very short illness, staff stayed late to be with her. They were such a comfort to Mum and the family at a sad time. We have popped in several times since and attended the Garden Party, it was lovely to sit and chat with Mum's friends. The manager and owners run the home with such compassion and professionalism.
