View Full Details of BoucherneMum has been at Boucherne since last September after a very difficult time in her home. She settled in very well and it was such a relief to see her begin to thrive straight away. The environment is always clean, homely and welcoming. There are many activities for the residents - the visiting puppies and the belly dancers particularly delighted my mum! There are also trips out organised regularly, for example for a meal out on the quay or recently a big Christmas party with residents from other local homes. It is always great to see the photos on social media. The food is home-cooked and the garden and decking lovely to sit out in summer. The best thing about Boucherne though is the care, compassion and good humour of all the staff there. There genuinely is a unique family feel to Boucherne and I am so pleased my mum is there.
Boucherne is well managed and run with friendly and caring staff. They provided my father with excellent personal care and supported him emotionally when his wife died and in his last few weeks of life.
My mum went into respite at Boucherne for two weeks in November this year, she is 95 and although quite healthy, is struggling a bit. After two weeks, my mum decided to stay as she felt like she was at home with such lovely owners and staff that allow her to be independent but are always there when she needs them. The food is good, her room is great with en-suite loo, there's entertainment if you choose to join in and there's always someone to chat to. I pop in and see my mum all the time and the atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly! If you need a safe, homely and friendly place for an elderly relative... So far, so good - look no further!
My mum was luckily able to secure a place at Boucherne after a fire in her flat. She was in a pretty bad way, compounded by her suffering from bone cancer. She has been welcomed by both the staff and the residents and has settled in well. The staff - all of them - are kind, attentive, supportive, friendly and professional. Residents have three proper meals a day, have their medication at the right times, have people visiting for various activities and a lovely garden to sit in or walk around. Family can visit at any time, no need to call ahead. The building is very attractive - along with the gardens - and looks like a home, not an institution. It's easy to contact the manager by phone or email. It's not just a friendly, caring place, it's well-run. I feel very grateful that Mum has found such a place to spend her last days.
Found the home very friendly and clean. My sister loves being in the home. She is beginning to think of the home as home. Her needs are being cared for.
My mother is very happy, and the care she receives is very good. We are always welcome when we visit, and we often just pop in as we are local to the home. I think it would be nice to have regular reviews and updates, even on email or the resident and what's going on in the home.
We have found Boucherne care home to be very helpful, homely and professional. Mother is very happy there and that's what matters most!
My mother-in-law moved into Boucherene care home on the 26th July 2023, from the moment my mother-in-law arrived at the home she was made very welcome. She was introduced to every member of staff on duty including the cook who were all very friendly. The food is beautiful and my mother-in-law loves it and within a week of moving in she is a different person, she looks so well, she is enjoying the company and activities held within the home. She appears to be gaining weight. It was a worrying time for family members but management and staff give us reassurance. Thank you to the home manager, deputy manager and all of the staff team at Boucherne Care Home.
My mother was no longer able to live at home in safety after much research we decided to try Boucherne. Everything has gone extremely smoothly and both the home and its staff have been wonderful. My mother has settled in more quickly and happily than we could have hoped into the homely atmosphere. I would like to thank both the owners and staff for the kind, individual attention they've given my mother.
I cannot thank the manager and her team enough for the excellent care they all provide. I know she is 110% looked after. From the moment she arrived, she was treated like one of the family. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend the Boucherne to anyone whose loved one can no longer look after themselves in their own home. The decor is lovely and clean and the gardens are just gorgeous. Food is freshly prepared and a glass of wine with her lunch or dinner. I have already told my children, this is where I would be happy should I ever needed looking after. The Boucherne is more like a home from home and once again I would never look anywhere else for a loved one to be cared for. The excellent service they provide is outstanding.
Boucherne is like a home-from-home for my sister, whose mental health has been transformed since she arrived in November 2019 in a very bad state and seriously underweight. With the good food at Boucherne, she is now needing a whole new wardrobe. Boucherne managed to keep Covid 19 at bay until the very last minute, and have been meticulous in keeping the residents safe. The staff have been exceptional in going the extra mile and are always friendly and helpful.
My Mum has been resident at Boucherne for 4.5 years and I have always been entirely happy with her care. All the staff are so lovely with all the residents; they are treated with respect and love at all times. Boucherne is an old farm house and has a cosy family feel which Mum loves. The food is nutritious and wholesome just like Mum used to cook for us! All residents if able, are encouraged to walk to the dining rooms for breakfast, lunch and dinner giving them the all important exercise they need. I would be more than happy to recommend this marvellous home to anyone.
My mum has lived at Boucherne for over seven years and we are so happy that she made that choice. The staff are lovely, endlessly patient people, devoted to making every resident feel supported and contented. Home-cooked meals every day keep everyone healthy and well-fed, and individual requirements and preferences are always catered for. Obviously, this last year has been an enormous challenge for the owners, manager and staff, but they have coped magnificently, putting in many long hours with encouraging words and smiles to allay residents anxieties, even when the going has been extremely tough. We have missed being able to pop in every couple of days to visit Mum and catch up with everyone (they do feel like part of the family) but we've been kept fully up to date with all developments via email and phone call and have been able to enjoy suitably distanced visiting throughout the year.
I'm not one to leave reviews, but this was a must! The care my grandad received at Boucherne was nothing short of superb. The attention to detail and care the residents get is first class. I could not say a bad word about Boucherne, from the management to staff, cleaners; everyone is so welcoming. For all the care my grandad received, I will be forever grateful.
Lived in a retirement flat in the same area, came here from the hospital - from then until now; very happy. Care and company very friendly and sure this will continue. I am not very active by choice.
My Aunt loves it at the Boucherne; we are so lucky she is here and not somewhere else. The Boucherne is homely, the staff are friendly, welcoming and create a warm atmosphere. As others have said, nothing is ever too much trouble - the care she receives is first rate. There are many activities/trips to get involved in, whilst my Aunt is able to keep her independence. It doesn't feel at all like a care home, just a home - which is a good thing. Finally, I will say, if I ever need to go into a care home in later life, if it's half as good as the Boucherne, I'd be more than happy.
My father was a resident at Boucherne for a year. The care was excellent, the staff caring and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Visiting was anytime, for as long as you liked, visitors welcomed and offered drinks or you are welcome to go down and make your own whenever. The food was all cooked fresh on the premises, homemade soups and cakes, and always a roast Sunday lunch. I could not recommend this home enough, it is more a home than an institution, the residents are not sitting in a circle all day long looking at a TV. Outings and meals out are arranged, there are lots of things arranged in the home during the week. A loving, caring home.
Our father spent 3 years at Boucherne during which time he was extremely well looked after by the incredibly kind, caring and professional staff who always had time for him and his individual needs. He was encouraged to continue with outside interests as long as he was able. The end of life care he received was wonderful and as a family we were always involved.
My mother entered this care home mid April 2016 and was very much against being put here, in a quite aggressive way. Our family were very concerned as she is 96 years old and we had spent a considerable amount of time finding the right place for her as there are no other alternatives because of family situations. She is now a very very happy person, she loves it there. Everyone is so kind and helpful, the staff are brilliant, the food great, lots of activities and mum has the run of the garden, which she loves, it is home.
The staff are amazing, always cheerful, and make no fuss over doing anything. The owner spends most of his time ensuring standards are maintained. There are activities organised every week and regular outings. All food is cooked at home and mum eats in her room by choice, which they make no fuss over. I live close and visit at all hours, it's always friendly and hospitable, can't fault it.
