View Full Details of Palmerston Residential Care HomeMy late father and also my mother were residents at Palmerston Care Home this year (2024). Both of them were treated with compassion, empathy and respect. The staff were always welcoming and friendly. Any concerns we had were listened to and promptly acted upon. The manager, especially, was second to none with her professionalism, care and attention to detail. My father received excellent end-of-life care after his discharge from the hospital. All his needs were sensitively dealt with and necessary professionals promptly brought in to attend to his needs. My mother went into Palmerston for respite after breaking her hip and was amazed at the support she and my father received. We as a family, highly recommend Palmerston Care Home. It is homely, friendly and we received excellent care with kindness and patience from the staff there. I really feel you can't pay for kindness, but that is what we received. It is also reasonably priced as a care home.
Would recommend this care home. My Mum was so happy in there. The staff were friendly and helpful and looked after my Mum until the end. The room was clean and had adequate equipment for what she needed thank you.
Moved here to Palmerstone Residential Home after my right knee displacement, my tibia was broken. Was a long journey to find accommodation for myself. Palmerstone had a space for me, I was very nervous but have to say I was reassured by the staff waiting for me. Settled in with a feeling of warmth and confidence. It was nice to see the smiling staff at the entrance. All the staff are approachable to speak with but if they can’t answer will escalate to the Manager level.
My Wife stayed for a respite week at Palmerston Residential Care Home. She was very impressed with the care she received and said it was very friendly and well run. She said she would be happy to go back anytime.
My mother has been there nearly 12 months, she is happy relaxed and well looked after. The manager is helpful and very kind and works hard for all the residents. All the staff are caring and supportive. They go out of their way to make the residents happy and comfortable every day.
My mum has been a resident for four months. We cannot speak highly enough of the staff and care that she gets. The food is excellent and home cooked. The Manager and staff are extremely attentive and kind. The home is always clean and fresh. Mum is very happy there and considers the carers her best friends now.
This is an excellent care home. All the cares are very professional and friendly. It’s very well managed, clean and peaceful. My Dad was very well looked after. I would recommend this home to anyone.
I must say this has been an extremely good experience with our brother receiving such a lovely stay. All the staff are very friendly and reassuring and have looked after our brother, who suffers Parkinson's dementia and needs everything done for him. Well done and thank you all.
Intentionally chosen due to being a smaller care home that provides a homely environment with a family feel. I have not been disappointed at all and feel highly assured that Mum is getting the attention that she needs by people that she knows and trusts. I have been extremely impressed with the Manager and staff who have been very proactive to ensure that Mum’s needs have been met where possible. In particular, the Manager and staff have consistently shown their professionalism since Mum arrived and to now. Arriving to the home with rapid-onset dementia and unpredictable health issues, Mum struggled to adapt to living in a residential home from living a very independent lifestyle. The staff have dedicated time, compassion and energy to meeting Mum’s needs and have regularly kept me updated on progress and actions. Staff team efforts are paying off and relieved to witness positivity and contentment from Mum during what has been a very difficult time - thank you Palmerston.
My Aunt, who now has severe dementia, has been at Palmerston since 2012 and my family and I have nothing but grateful thanks and admiration for the dedication, hard work and kindness of all the staff we have met in that time. We live quite some way from the care home and so turn up at odd hours during the day but they are always helpful and understanding of our travelling distance and our Aunt always looks cared for, clean and well-nourished. The manager and her team deserve every commendation.
I am happy with the level of care, attention and kindness shown by all the staff.
Palmerston is a small, friendly home. A nice team of carers that are always on hand to help and advise. I feel that my dad is being well cared for and that it is a great comfort to myself and my family.
More than happy with my mother's care. I visit weekly and feel her needs are well catered for.
We had to move mother this year (2018), from another care home in Southend and after a search selected Palmerston because we believed they 'care', as yet we certainly haven't been proved wrong.
My mother was taken into Palmerston Residential Care Home in February for respite. The staff are absolutely amazing, kind, friendly and above all very caring. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Palmerston Residential Care Home.
My aunt was taken to Palmerston House in December 2017 following a fall at home from which she never recovered. Her physical condition was very frail. When my aunt was going to Palmerston House I sent an email to the Manager, giving her information about the person, not the patient. The manager and the staff noted this and their care of my aunt has been superlative. The atmosphere in the home is one of being at home, staff who care and who try to brighten their residents’ day. The welcome at the door was always bright and encouraging and the chance to talk or seek advice was always given. When it came to palliative care for my aunt everything was explained, the support was amazing, and the manager arranged for a minister to visit my aunt and give her a blessing. My aunt slipped quietly and peacefully away under their care. The support and sympathy given at that time were lovely. I have nothing but praise for the manager and her caring staff and have no hesitation in recommending this home.
On a recent visit to my mother who is a resident at Palmerston Road care home my wife and I were so impressed with everything about the home. From the moment of entrance, we were so impressed. No unpleasant smells which we have experienced in other homes we have visited. So pleasant, welcoming, yet secure and very clean. The staff are so helpful nothing is too much trouble for them. Mum is so happy there and she is not easy to please.
My Mum came to stay here for a week after a night's stay in hospital following a fall. I cannot fault the care at all. The manager is very approachable and efficient, dealing with any issues effectively, and the staff are friendly and only too happy to help. The home has a personal, family environment and whilst Mum was there, she enjoyed the home-cooked food. There is a small garden with a cat and rabbit. Whilst Mum was there, a lady came in to do dancing with the residents in their chairs. Mum really enjoyed this.
My mum was placed here from the hospital as a temporary "step down" placement. She was meant to be here for two nights but has ended up staying for a week. First impressions are that it is in a rather shabby part of Westcliff and the building is old. However looking past that, I cannot fault the kindness my mum has been shown and how helpful the staff, particularly the manager have been. It is a fairly small care home (22 residents I think), which makes it homely, caring and friendly. It may not have all the mod cons but it has a lovely garden, resident cat and rabbit and everything you could need. The food is cooked on site and I am told by mum it is delicious. We have been very grateful for the care shown to mum and if this home was nearer to her family and friends we would be more than happy for her to live here permanently. Many thanks and keep up the good work!
I have every confidence in the care that is provided to my mother. I find the staff are attentive and helpful to mum, they show extreme sensitivity and compassion. All mum's needs are met and she is supported in a very friendly and helpful manner. This applies to all the staff.
