View Full Details of Pelham HouseMy father came to Pelham House in July 2023 from another care home where they didn't have the type of supervision he then required because of the onset of early dementia. The Manager and all of the wonderful caring staff at Pelham House provided my Dad with exemplary care and compassion during the 10 months he was in residence. I visited every week and was highly impressed with the staff/patient interaction. My dad was entertained, well cared for and extremely happy there until he passed away peacefully in his sleep on 7th May. He was 97 years of age.
My friend has been at Pelham House for 18 Months. Initially for a short stay but now possibly a long stay. I have a nursing background with many years of experience and am probably quite a hard 'taskmaster'. I read the CQC report when my friend became a resident and was uncomfortable as many recommendations were made. However, since there has been a change in management with a new care manager the overall standard has improved tremendously. Care plans are current, and communication between staff is now excellent with all levels of understanding what the current goals set for my friend and how to go about achieving them with her. The staff are very kind and I have never heard any member of staff sounding irritated when a resident is aggressive as can be the case sometimes with dementia. I have observed how a resident can allocate one particular carer for the day if they are distressed. New staff have been recruited, plans are afoot for developing more activities.
Wonderful staff group and nothing too much trouble. Very caring, supportive and knowledgeable. Care for both my next of kin and myself. Care has much improved with change of management and feel I have no worries at all. Staff go above and beyond. Home has a wonderful chilled feel to it. Well done to you all.
I have found the staff very helpful and my mum is happy with the food.
I have found all staff in the care home to be approachable, knowledgeable and understanding in difficult times they have shown empathy and flexibility. It is extremely easy to converse with the staff to arrange matters. At the same time, I feel my relative is in safe and comfortable surroundings.
Both of my parents now live in Pelham House. They have been made to feel part of the Pelham family and are very happy. The manager and staff have gone above and beyond to make sure they have everything they need. They have just enjoyed their 1st Christmas with an abundance of Christmas cheer. The staff are always saying how lovely my parents are and my parents always say the same of the staff. There is always something going on for my parents to join in with, and they enjoy visits out to the garden with the raised flower beds. I have peace of mind that my parents are being very well cared for to a very high standard.
The team at Pelham House took excellent care of my mum. She was made very comfortable and treated with great dignity. The staff are very friendly and really do go the extra mile. For example, when my mum was off her food, individual staff were bringing in things that they knew she liked to encourage her to eat. The place really does a ‘home’ in the true sense of the word. I would have no hesitation recommending Pelham House to anybody considering care for a loved one.
After a series of falls, my mother was taken into hospital and on discharge, she was placed in Pelham House. Initially, I thought of moving her to a home nearer to where I live but it was apparent that she was in an excellent place, so she has remained there. I liked the idea of a small number of residents surrounded by friendly professional staff - who truly care. Throughout these difficult covid-19 times they have successfully kept covid out and protected the people in their care. The regular newsletter has been useful to see what activities my mother has been doing. Whenever I've visited or spoken to any members of staff, it is clear that they know my mother as an individual and understands her own 'little ways'. If there is anything they need to know about my mother (likes/dislikes, general history) they will always call to ask me questions. Although the covid restrictions have limited access to my mother, I am happy that she is well cared for and in a safe place.
Pelham House has to be commended for their organisation and primary consideration of residents during the Covid pandemic. Staff and management have been cognisant of the difficulties that the restrictions have placed on everybody, but nevertheless have always been helpful, organised and empathetic towards residents and relatives requirements. A great job all round.
It has been a difficult decision to move Mum to a care home during lockdown and as a family, it was hard not to be able to settle her in ourselves. The staff at Pelham House have done a wonderful job of making her feel welcome and she seems to be happy in her new home. We are looking forward to spending more time at Pelham House once restrictions are lifted.
My father has settled in well at Pelham House. The staff and managers are very accommodating, listen and are keen to provide my father with the best possible care. The food provided there is something my father particularly enjoys. His accommodation is very nice and he has a large room with a bathroom adapted to his needs. There is a distinctly personal touch to the home and I get the impression that the staff are proud to work there and really want to make all their residents feel truly at home. Various activities keep the residents occupied and my father enjoys his daily newspaper too. It really is a very nice place.
Brilliant start, my mother has been resident just over a month and is happy, content and now has plenty to occupy her day. The staff have been wonderful and really made her feel welcome. A big WELL DONE to Pelham House.
My mother’s dementia had become so advanced she was unable to stay safely in her home. So my sister and I started the hunt for a residential home that we hoped would suit her and she would be happy. We looked at many but the one that stood out was Pelham House in Cuckfield. We were able to have a look around the rooms and from the windows the main areas, this was due to Covid restrictions being in place. We liked what we saw and so started the process of getting Mum a place. The staff and manager did all they could to make the transition as easy as possible. Mother had to be isolated for two weeks after a negative Covid test, but all went well and she is now happy to move about the home and visit all open areas. The manager has been able to create a secure Covid room for visiting which has made a huge difference and so Mother is permitted visits. One of the great plus points is there is always activities being organised throughout the day. Thank you Pelham House. I just wanted to add my thanks to all of you for your willingness to help our Mother, settle and adjust. We have found all the staff to be friendly and helpful and we thank you for all of that. Being able to talk to her on the phone and visit has made the adjustment so much easier.
Exceptional home, the manager and her team have ensured the home is Covid-19 free throughout. Excellent infection control in place. I visit my mother with confidence steps are in place either in the garden or inside a private room, so I can see my mother at specific times. Well done to all the team. Keep up the good work.
My Gran moved into Pelham House in September 2018. My Mum, my brother and I got to know the staff very well. We have also seen how very professional the workers are. My Gran is treated very well with the utmost care and respect.
The staff at Pelham House are all friendly, helpful and caring, my mother really settled in very well and is very happy there. They are very accommodating to me and I rest assured that she is in a safe and being well looked after.
My aunt has been a resident at Pelham House for over two years. The staff look after her every need and do a wonderful job of keeping all the residents safe and stimulated. We are my aunts only family but we live in another county. This means we can't visit as often as we would like but we are kept informed of her health and well-being on a regular basis. I can't praise the entire care team at Pelham highly enough, they are friendly, kind and professional at all times. During the current pandemic, I have total confidence that the infection control measures that have been put in place by the management team, will protect all the residents from Coronavirus. Well done to everyone at Pelham House and keep up the great work.
The care my mum received at Pelham House was excellent she had a smile for everyone which reflected how settled and relaxed she was in the homely atmosphere. The food is very good, always home-cooked meals and if the residents requested anything special the home would always accommodate. I would highly recommend Pelham House.
My mother-in-law had been a resident of Pelham House for four years and has been so happy in the friendly homely atmosphere. Never once complaining, the care and attention she received over the years was excellent, especially so towards the end of her life. Everybody works as a team to make sure the residents have a good quality of life.
My wife attended Pelham House for daycare several days, not consecutively and I found all the staff always had time and advice for me and had kind care for my wife.
