View Full Details of Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day CentreReally impressed with the wonderful care given to my brother and residents at this home. Always see a very tranquil and nice atmosphere. Makes a big difference and peace of mind to know that my brother is so well looked after by such a wonderful, caring staff. Like always thank you so much for your care and kindness.
Staff are extremely friendly from the moment you enter the premises. They are always helpful and let us know how our mum is doing and what she has been up to in her day. There are different areas the residents can go to, to do activities in smaller groups. They have activities organised for special occasions like fireworks, which my mum really enjoyed watching. All these activities are put into a monthly newsletter along with photos. My mum is spoken to with kindness and respect as are the other residents. I am always touched how softly spoken the carers are and their compassion towards my mum. It really makes a difference to know that my mum is safe and happy and well looked after. Her huge smile to the carers says it all.
Every Wednesday a minor miracle takes place, a random group of sufferers from dementia meet for a coffee morning and singsong. My husband can't sing a note in tune - no matter. The staff are wonderful. They are welcoming and treat everyone as a friend. They know what everyone's favourite song is and there is music. Gradually smiles appear, sometimes laughter. Staff dance with visitors, who regain some of their old self. Thank you Devonshire for giving my 95-year-old husband with Alzheimer's a weekly 2 hours of happiness.
Staff at the home are genuinely caring and work hard to look after my dad. My dad often says "they look after me very well here and I am happy here". Dad is always clean and dressed when I see him and the day centre provides fantastic social interaction and activities, which is proven to help slow the progression of dementia. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for taking such good care of dad.
The Devonshire Dementia Care Home & Day Centre is well run and is advanced in the use of technology to assist in the care and monitoring of the well being of the residents. It keeps in touch with residents' relatives weekly about their health, activities and progress, and, the home issues a monthly newsletter with photographs of the residents describing their activities and reaction to them. The key factor to me is the high standard of care the staff show to the residents continually.
Staff are always kind and caring. Always a welcoming and nice atmosphere. I take my wife to the Devonshire on Wednesday mornings and she always looks forward to our visits. On occasions when I have had to leave her alone she has always had a lovely time.
We are very pleased with the care that our father received overall. The staff are attentive and the home have been good at listening to our concerns and putting provision in place. We would have liked our father to have a more bespoke care plan. We gave a lot of information to the home when he first started living there about how to deal with him and distract him and the things he enjoys, but this is often not adhered to. It would be nice to see staff engaging more directly with residents.
Very caring and understanding towards my dad.
Really appreciate the care that Devonshire provide.
The Devonshire Dementia Care Home and Day Centre has been an outstanding care home for my Mother. she is always well dressed and happy when I see her and is very settled after being there for early five years. She joins in all the activities and enjoys the food. She has never once complained and she is treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Mum enjoys meeting new people at the Day Centre and the activities they arrange. She is kept busy and I know she is in the best place for her.
Everyone working at Devonshire Dementia Care Home and Day Centre is so caring and kind. I can see that my mother is treated with respect and is very well looked after. I have no hesitation in recommending the Devonshire to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one with dementia.
The staff are just lovely! Mum has severe dementia and is almost wholly dependent on staff support. The carers go above and beyond to make her comfortable and content, we couldn’t be more grateful to them all.
Always understanding, caring, considerate and focused on the needs of the individual. The staff are always welcoming, warm and friendly to family members while going above and beyond in the care of the residents. Throughout the pandemic, they have been exemplary in all areas. I am so pleased and relieved that my mum is here, where she is happy almost all of the time, understood and cared for so diligently. A fantastic, happy home.
My mother-in-law has lived at the Devonshire since 2014. We have nothing but praise for the whole time she has been there. All the staff have gone out of their way to make her stay as comfortable and happy as it could be. From the moment she entered the home she was looked after constantly for the first few days until she settled in. Any minor problems were dealt with to make her feel at home. When the Day Centre opened she would visit and enjoyed her time there. It's such a great asset to the home. My mother-in-law passed away recently and the staff couldn't have done more to make her passing a peaceful one. Our family are sending grateful thanks for the care they gave to her and would have no hesitation in recommending The Devonshire Care Home for a family member.
Dad has been a resident now for two years and seems to be happy and contented. All the staff are caring and attentive, and they put up with his sometimes challenging behaviour. The exceptional standard of care has been maintained during Covid, and information has flowed throughout. I am so glad that we found the Devnshire.
Mum has settled fairly well, considering her confusion. The staff and carers are very attentive and compassionate. The food is lovely, and Mum enjoys her meals.
The staff at Devonshire care home provide outstanding levels of care and support to the residents. They consistently exceed my expectations and are a pleasure to meet and provide a very friendly and caring approach and look after my mother's needs.
Care is good. They understand Mums needs. Food is very good - choice of menu. Good communication with staff and regular updates.
This is an excellent care home. My Mum has been there for 3-years, and my family are so glad we chose Devonshire. Staff are amazing and probably know my mum better than me now. The care, dedication and how much they love the residents stand out. The staff are always happy, and there is also a lovely ambience of positiveness and making the best of everything. There is so much effort made for all celebrations like Easter, Christmas etc. They wear me out just thinking how much work has to go into all of this, plus run the home, and do all the normal things they have to do. The food is good, and Mum is well looked after. They have coped extremely well during Covid19, and it has been a really stressful time for all the staff. Their workload has increased because of the pandemic, but they just get on with it. Marvellous people and a really caring, happy environment.
Since my mother moved into the Devonshire she has been cared for in an exemplary way, nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are so caring and knowledgeable of the condition and how it affects the residents day to day life, they are extraordinary. They keep the family updated of everything that happens with my mother and during the COVID situation they have been on top of the situation, with early set plans for lockdown regarding visiting, isolation procedures and general welfare of the patients. We get regular updates on how my mother is doing and how the home and staff, in general, are coping during this difficult time. I truly don't know how they are managing everything so well. Thank you so much for everything you do for my mother and everyone in the care home.
