View Full Details of Mugdock House Care HomeMy mum moved into Mugdock House in August 2024 and was very warmly welcomed by management and staff at all levels. She had a lovely garden room which was very well maintained and spotlessly clean, as were all areas of the home. Staff made time to get to know her and she regularly commented on how nice everyone was, taking time for chats and a laugh. She was encouraged to participate in all activities by the wellbeing team and especially enjoyed her 100th birthday party in October! I was a regular visitor and was always made to feel welcome. Staff had a very good understanding of working with elderly people with dementia and there was always a friendly, caring ethos throughout the home. Sadly my mum passed away in January, the end of life care she received was excellent and I greatly appreciated the kind support from staff. I was concerned I would always regret having to move my mum into a care home, however I needn't have worried, Mugdock House proved to be a perfect choice.
My mother-in-law has been a resident of Mugdock House for almost four years and her care has always been outstanding. Recently there has been even more opportunities for outings and this has been appreciated. She is always looking her best when we visit and the staff generally catch me before I get to her room to update me about her current wellbeing and mood. The leaders, care givers and all staff should be proud of the difference that they make on a daily basis. Very personable, approachable and kind. Always well informed about my mother-in-law when we call as well. Many thanks.
My Gran was well looked after at Mugdock House. I felt welcomed by the staff the moment I walked through the door.
We have recently completed a review of the care for my Aunt. And I continue to be amazed by the level of personal and attention that each and every team member takes to ensure all the residents are well looked after. I have no words that can express how thank full that we found Mugdock House.
Mugdock House Care Home is exemplary in so many aspects. It's a joy to visit and experience the approach that is taken by all members of the team in supporting residents and families. They recognise the individual needs of each resident, tailoring the care to meet those needs. Well done everyone.
I find the staff to be excellent, supportive and person-centred. Resident's settled in quickly. Staff were caring towards family as well as resident. Staff kept us up to date on resident's condition and handled conversation with compassion. Very happy with the overall experience.
After visiting lots of care homes for my mother I knew at once Mugdock was the right one. Lovely individual rooms and communal rooms. One lounge is permanently staffed so my mother who is a high fall risk is never alone except when in bed. The dining room is bright and cheerful, looks just like a proper restaurant. Lots of friendly staff. The most activities of any care home I looked at. Bus trips even for very elderly residents. My mother is no longer lonely and is very happy in this new home.
I have found all the staff very professional, kind, friendly, calm and patient with all residents, but more especially when dealing with challenging residents. The staff at reception always welcome me by name and a smile and are happy to chat whilst we are signing in and out. My uncle always enjoys the visitors from Harris, a friendly small dog who visits residents from time to time.
From the reception desk to the manager's office, with all the dedicated, professional and kind staff in between, I couldn't recommend Mugdock House Care Home highly enough. If I ever need care it's where I would wish to be.
Mugdock House is a bright, welcoming, and spotlessly clean care home. The staff are professional, efficient and friendly and their kindness and compassion towards our mother were outstanding. Management and administration are well organised and every member of staff contributes to the first class service provided. During Mum's stay at Mugdock House, she was treated as an individual, with her care meticulously tailored to her needs, such that she could have the very best quality of life possible. Her dementia and other medical conditions were managed with skill and compassion. She enjoyed her food, which was freshly cooked and delicious. She participated in activities when she could and her enjoyment was obvious. The staff became like a second family to Mum. In her final days, Mum received high-quality end-of-life care from the nursing staff, carers and GPs associated with the care home. The staff were also very supportive to our family. I highly recommend Mugdock House Care Home.
My mother is in this beautiful care home she loves all the staff and she loves the entertainment throughout the day my mum loves to read books but doesn't get time during the day as she is always busy doing things, very clean/caring home, would highly recommend.
My wife was cared for in Mugdock House following many years with vascular dementia. She had been in another care home for most of that time, but as she became more frail and required a higher level of care, we decided to ask Mugdock House if they could help. The outcome was that my wife was moved following an assessment. Sadly, we were aware that my wife needed greater care and was nearing the end of her life, and our family made this decision following a long consideration and in consultation with Mugdock House. This proved to be the right decision, and my wife received from management and staff professionalism, and much more importantly, outstanding kindness and care from all, whatever their role. My wife passed away in the home, and our family know that she received the best and most compassionate care possible. Cared for with dignity. As a supporting family, we also felt that we were important to the staff and would like to thank all management and friendly people there for their kindness.
Dad lived at Mugdock House for the last nine months of his life, and what a difference it made to the quality of his life. Prior to that, he had live-in carers in his own home who were getting incredibly frazzled trying to look after him, and he was miserable. He has never wanted to go into residential care, but he was much more relaxed and more content once he moved to Mugdock House. The staff were all calm, professional and very kind to him (and also to me). His life opened up - he enjoyed outings with activity staff, music and other entertainment in the home. His increasing need for help with personal care etc, was met in a way which retained his dignity. At the end, he could stay where the staff knew and cared for him with great kindness rather than be hospitalised. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did for him.
My sister has now been in the home for one year. When I came to view the home before she took up residence, I was impressed by the homely feeling I experienced throughout. During the past year, I have felt that my sister was part of a new extended family. No matter where in the home we were, the staff (the manager, office staff, nurses, carers, laundry and cleaning staff) all addressed her by name. As for my sister's care and attention, I could not ask for better, it has been excellent.
Mum was admitted to Mugdock House Care Home on 23/01/2023. Her planned admission went smoothly, though mum was reluctant to acknowledge that she now needs 24-hour care. Every member of staff welcomed her and her family. Every member of staff made a point of introducing themselves. Every member of staff recognised how hard this home admission was for all of us. The culture in this home is not accidental, it is promoted and supported from the manager onwards. I haven't found fault here but I keep looking (I am an ex-care commission inspector). Mum loves this home and doesn't want to go anywhere else.
I cannot recommend Mugdock House highly enough. My mother was cared for there for the past six years suffering from vascular dementia. The quality of the staff and the care my mother received was outstanding. In her final days, the staff could not have done more for our family. Thank you to all, I can’t express how grateful we are.
Today was my first visit to Mugdock House, visiting an old neighbour I have not seen since they moved. The home was very modern and well kept. Staff were lovely and so attentive, treating my friend with the utmost respect. A lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Very impressed.
Mugdock Care Home continues to provide an exemplary level of care to my mother in her seventh year of residency-I would have no doubts in recommending the home to any prospective family. Management and staff are so good
Thank you to everyone at Mugdock House for the care, compassion and dignity afforded our mum, particularly during the last days and hours of her life. The fact Mum was welcomed back was truly moving, especially with the multiple problems Mum developed in the hospital. The press and others may discredit care homes, but compared to the NHS, there is no comparison in terms of the care and nursing residents receive. It is totally remarkable that the staff healed the ungradable pressure sore on Mum's sacrum and almost healed a similar pressure sore on her heel, all caused by negligence in the care of the NHS where staff also missed the fact that Mum had taken a stroke in their care, then left her on a chair for 14 hours, days after her stroke. This turnaround was only achieved by the hard work of all the staff at Mugdock House. We would again like to thank every member of staff for the end-of-life care Mum received and the dignity it gave her at the end, all done with the utmost care and compassion.
My father was a resident in Mugdock House Care Home for 9 months until his death last month. All the staff were outstanding and treated my father with the utmost respect and dignity at all times. I would recommend this care home to everyone.
