View Full Details of Larkswood Residential HomeToday my Husband and I visited my Brother. He came to Larkswood 3 years ago after a spell in a Hospital and realized he needed to be looked after so he was sent temporarily to Larkswood. He was so happy and comfortable there that we realized this was where we needed to get him. The Staff are so caring and go far beyond the call of duty, always welcoming and obliging. Larkswood is always kept clean, the food is plentiful and when we visited today the Dining Room had been decorated for St Patrick's Day. Our Brother has many Medical needs but this is supported by the manager and all her staff. My Brother and Sister in Law are regular visitors and they endorse everything we have said. We came to the Christmas Fair in December, so many staff on hand to assist, such a lovely atmosphere, lots of prizes, and wonderful food. Well done Larkswood. You are doing an amazing job!
After Mum had her second fall and spent 2/3 months recovering in hospital and rehabilitation, we felt that she would no longer be safe to return home alone. Due to work commitments, there was no easy alternative other than a care home. As soon as we entered Larkswood, we felt a good vibe. Larkswood is welcoming and homely with many of the building’s original features, which makes it feel like a home and not a clinically disinfected care home! The management took time to listen to our concerns and understand our emotional distress at the decision we were about to embark on. It turned out to be the best decision and our mum is happy and feels at home in this safe environment. The staff are caring, and welcoming and feel like an extended family. They’re helpful and approachable and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled and made friends there, she enjoys the food and all the little treats. Thank you Larkswood for your dedicated care, not just for Mum but for her family too.
My lovely dad only spent a short while in Larkswood Care Home. He was discharged from hospital and was welcomed as a temporary resident into Larkswood. Sadly, he was readmitted back into hospital, and he passed away some days later. I was so very impressed with Larkswood. The manager is kind, caring, supportive and knowledgeable, as is the deputy manager. My dad commented on how all the staff were friendly and helpful and that nothing was too much trouble for them. He also told me how homely it felt to be living there. I visited frequently and I was always greeted with a smile and offered a cuppa. I always felt welcomed. During his short stay at Larkswood, my dad enjoyed sitting in the garden which is well-kept and has a very nice seating area. I can't recommend Larkswood enough. It can be very difficult when a loved one goes into a care home, but knowing my dad was so well cared for put my mind at ease. Finally, very good value for money for an excellent service.
Our experience as a family has been really good. I cannot fault the care given to Mum. As a family, we were anxious about having Mum in care but this was soon eased with the care and dedication shown and the clear lines of communication and support offered to us. Larkswood has been a good, supportive, caring environment and I would recommend it to anyone.
Larkswood is a very well-run care home. The caring staff are extremely helpful. My mother is a resident and moved there in December. I could immediately feel a happy atmosphere when we arrived and my mother is happy and well looked after. The carer team is very well led by the manager and I am very pleased we chose Larkswood to look after Mum.
A very caring home with wonderful staff.
The care my mother receives seems extremely good.
The staff were fantastic and did everything in their power to ensure our grandmother's final weeks were the best ever. If you want to have trust that your loved one will be looked after then this is the place. Thank you Larkswood.
A warm, caring, human and professional approach to care. Personalised birthday cakes, one to one social interaction and regular events and activities for residents, family and friends. Efficient, attentive, skilled medical, palliative and emotional interactions between the staff and residents. A highly welcoming and respectful atmosphere with an essential element of fun and humour! My ongoing thanks and admiration.
Having had Mum in Larkswood House for the past seven months there has been nothing but kindness shown to me and our family every time we visited (and that was often). Mum had a few complex issues but the Manager and her Deputy and staff worked around them with dillagence and care , (CQC have missed the essence of this particular home because they do care instead of pushing bits of paper around to fill a quota). Thank You
I last wrote a review in January 2018. My mother has now passed away peacefully with not only her family around her but the care team who were more like friends (not only to my Mother but to our family). Our total thanks, gratitude and kindness to EVERYONE at Larkswood - we will pop in for coffee!!!!
Larkswood Care Home is in my opinion, unlike many other homes. This is not an establishment geared around making money. The staff here actually care. They get to know the residents, everything is personalised and they support their residents and family 100%. My elderly mother came to live here three years ago when her needs increased to the point where it was no longer tenable to live at home. She loves it. The staff know her routine and cater to it. All dietary needs are met and nothing is too much trouble. Birthdays are made a huge fuss of and a personalised cake is produced with the Chef ensuring she makes a cake based on the resident's interests. The Manager and Deputy are experienced in all aspects of care as are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. I really cannot fault them and as a retired nurse of 37 years with the NHS who has encountered many Care Homes during my career, I am quite confident in saying this home is outstanding.
I don't know how the CQC arrives at their ratings. A fundamental requirement is how caring the staff are in any establishment. In terms of my mother's care, all the staff were great. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The food was excellent. My mum was encouraged to join in without feeling pressurised. Her room was kept clean. I really can't fault this home.
We visited my aunt for the first time in her new home. We received an extremely warm welcome and were shown around various rooms before we went to see her in the lounge. All staff were very friendly and made us tea! Our aunt looked well cared-for, was well dressed, happy and relaxed. They gave advice on clothing needs. The building is attractively furnished and spotlessly clean. Our first impressions were very positive and we felt confident leaving her in their care. I had phoned a few times before we visited and each time the opportunity to speak to my aunt was readily offered. As we live a four hour journey away all these positive vibes are so important to us.
