I always receive a warm, friendly greeting on arrival at Parklands. The staff work very hard to maintain a happy environment for residents and visitors and we, as a family, can relax knowing that Mum is safe, fed well, and treated with care and dignity. They are constantly monitoring Mum's changing health condition and needs and adjusting accordingly, which is also very reassuring. I have great admiration for the staff in how they stay calm, kind and caring in often difficult and swiftly changing circumstances. Thank you for everything you are doing for Mum.
Until the beginning of March, when she sadly passed away, our mum was a resident at Parkland House. She was only there for a short period of time, but from the first day to the last she was wonderfully looked after. My sisters and I first met the Parkland House manager in the hospital when she came to assess Mum to see if she would be able to stay at the care home. From that moment onwards we were confident that Mum would be well looked after; it was like a weight had been lifted from our shoulders. The manager was so caring and gentle with Mum that day and every day afterwards. All of the staff at Parkland House are amazing. They made Mum feel safe and special and that nothing was too much to ask for whatever the time of day or night. They treated Mum with compassion and respect as well as love. They phoned with updates about Mum's health, as well as chatting with us during our frequent visits. I can only thank all of the staff for everything they did for Mum, as well as to us as a family.
We are always greeted by the staff with a warm welcome, all of whom have a willingness to help at any moment needed. The staff really look after and care for the residents and treat them with compassion and great respect. The activities are always thoughtful and different. Thank you for taking such good care of our gran but also taking good care of us all too during a very challenging time. I hope you know just how much we appreciated all that you do. Thank you!
My nan came here after being unable to cope after returning home from hospital having had 2 strokes, the room she was given was lovely overlooking a small piece of garden, the staff are amazing so kind and caring, nothing is too much trouble, staff are always readily available to help a resident or just to simply sit and chat. They were very thoughtful in pairing my nan with another resident who they thought she would get on with and they have built a wonderful friendship, couldn’t ask for a nicer bunch of people to be looking out for my nan, nothing is too much trouble.
I am delighted at the standard of care that my mother is receiving. I can't rate food and drink because I don't visit at mealtimes. Everything else I splendid.
Whenever we visit we get a very nice welcome which means a lot as our relative is sometimes unresponsive and very often asleep due to her condition.
Staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Residents are looked after with dignity and care.
Generally the care that Mum receives and the care home itself, I have rated Good/Excellent. The carers do a wonderful job in caring for Mum with great empathy and compassion. I have however scored down the management on this occasion, as I sent an email on the 1st March querying the recent proposed uplift to the charges, which I've still not received a reply by the 18th, when the fees are due for payment on the 26th of the month.
Mum was only a resident for a short time - December - February - as we sadly lost her on 1st March 2024. From the moment we met the manager of Parklands (in the hospital, on a particularly traumatic day for Mum who hated hospitals), we knew that Parklands would be the perfect fit. The staff are truly exceptional - she loved them all and they loved her too. The care, empathy and friendship she received made us all so happy. Mum was calm, content and support by them all. My family and I cannot thank them all enough. You made her final days the best they could be. Thank you.
From the start Parkland made the transition to the home very easy for my mum and for us. From the manager down through all the staff, we have received great kindness, cheerfulness and great care. Staff exhibit infinite patience and compassion. Two senior members of staff went out of their way to help me when my mum had a bit of a crisis. They talked to her gently and kindly. They approached her concerns head-on but in a gentle way and with great skill. I felt reassured she was in good hands. The atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed even when staff are hard-pressed. Staff seem a very cohesive, well-led unit. Thanks.
The first time I met the manager and looked around Parkland House, I knew I had found the right place for my dad. The manager was so friendly and kind and observing her talking to staff and residents as we went around, gave me confidence that Dad would be well cared for. It's a difficult decision putting a parent in a care home, ie handing over their care to strangers and as Dad had already been in a home where he was extremely unhappy and hadn't been well cared for, it was important to get this move right. Dad was so much happier at Parkland House and the staff were absolutely fabulous with him! Although he had dementia and things got confused, he still had his sense of humour and loved to have banter with the staff. I will always be grateful for the wonderful care Dad had at Parkland House and that care was led by a terrific manager and was seen in every member of staff that I met.
Mum has been in Parkland House now for just over a year after experiencing many difficulties living at home. In that year her general health and wellbeing has improved dramatically. The care she receives at the home is wonderful and it is a great relief to me knowing Mum is so well cared for.
Dad was well looked after. His needs were met and his like of music appreciated. He always enjoyed his meals, his room was always clean, tidy and well cared for. The staff knew Dad and chatted to him when he walked around. They were always friendly and supportive when visiting.
Parkland looked after and cared for my wife, who had dementia, in a wonderful and caring way for six years. Right up to the time when she passed away, their attention to her every need was fantastic. I have nothing but praise for Parkland House.
From the first time I met staff, I was very impressed with their care and professionalism. Everyone made mum feel welcome and she was so happy here, which is testimony to their hard work. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their care, attention and love shown to my mum.
My father had been at Parkland House for just over a year when he passed away very recently. He was always treated with dignity and care and the staff were calm and friendly. It was a huge relief to us as his family that Dad was being looked after so well. Even with certain Covid restrictions in place for most of his stay, when we were allowed to visit we were always welcomed by warm and friendly staff. During his last days, they couldn't have done more for him and looked out for us too, in our fragile state. His room was always clean and tidy, he loved the food and enjoyed having people around to talk to. I'm going to miss visiting Parkland House. Choosing to put a parent into a care home is a very difficult and emotional decision. We could not look after Dad at home and we were very worried about making the move to residential care but Parkland House has been amazing and I would highly recommend this care home.
My uncle has settled in really well. I was worried after living on his own for so many years since his father died that he would struggle. The staff are very friendly and caring, they all know my uncle and think a lot of him. I’m pleased he is usually in the lounge when I come in and not on his own in his room. His eyesight is very poor and I don’t think he realises the other residents have problems and doesn’t understand why they come into his room or want to touch him. It is sad he has had to go into a home, but overall I am very happy he is at Parkland and being looked after so well.
It is quite early days for us. But my mother seems to have settled into Parkland house well. Her new surroundings have been a huge change for her but the constant 24/7 care has helped her relax. And the kindness and compassion of all the staff have made a huge influence on her changed circumstances. I got as much information about Parkland house beforehand, as I could from lots of different people and am so glad, as the information I gathered helped me make a hard decision. I'm so glad mother is now a resident here. There seem to be activities regularly which is lovely and helps her interact with other people around her.
The Manager was very flexible as I had a difficult situation with home care, I was able to take my husband in and out when things at home were difficult. The staff were very kind to me as well as my husband. The chef was very kind always trying to give my husband the food he liked and some of the staff although busy, would pop in and chat with my husband. I thank them all for helping at a very difficult time from the bottom of my heart.
My wife is 92-years-old and has been in residential care at Parkland House for approximately six and a half years; she suffers from long term Vascular Dementia, Muscular Degeneration and Glaucoma and is inconvenient and immobile. The care she receives at Parkland House is first class; the staff are helpful, caring and courteous. She is always clean and dressed for visits. They also ensure she is helped with eating etc. The accommodation is very good and well maintained.
