View Full Details of Fairholme HouseMy mum has been a resident at Fairholme House for over three years. Throughout this time, she has been extremely well cared for. Staff are welcoming and I enjoy the fact that they sit and spend time chatting with the residents. Staff know their residents well and it's obvious they're fond of them. The home is warm and welcoming. Mum is always dressed well, and her hair neat. They provide lovely home cooked meals, and options in the evening meal. It has a homely atmosphere, not a corporate one, which was important to me, when searching. I sought the 'home from home' aspect of care approach. There is a great range of activities for them each day, including visits from local nursery children and armchair exercise classes. It's lovely to see the interaction between the generations. I'm reassured that mum receives safe care and is happy. I have no hesitation in recommending Fairholme House. I always feel welcome there, and enjoy seeing everyone.
We are very pleased with Fairholme House. For the last 9 months they have provided excellent care for my cousin, who has dementia as well as mobility problems. She is better fed than she ever has been in her life! She was lonely when she got housebound, and now much enjoys the company and the many activities. She (and the home) are always meticulously clean and her hair nicely done. We are always welcome to visit and staff are so helpful.
We love Fairholme House, it’s such a family, fun home. All the staff know each resident's personalities/likes/dislikes. The care home is clean and our family member is always really clean. We feel she is in safe hands which was so important to us. The owners are easily contactable which is great.
Fairholme is a perfect home for my mum. She is cared for by some of the kindest, loving people who treat her as if she was their own mother. She is encouraged to join the others for lunch in the dining room (set beautifully with tablecloths and napkins) but no one is ever made to do something if they don't want to. All of Mum's needs are considered- personal care, mental stimulation, and social interaction as well as food and nutrition - good, traditional home cooking that Mum likes with a choice at each course. There are activities going on throughout the week which are varied and encourage participation and interaction. The overall feel is of a big family living together. This seems to be the aim of all the kind people running Fairholme. I am always welcomed when I visit and it is a lovely place to be. I am so pleased that I found Fairholme (following a personal recommendation) as I feel confident that Mum is in the best place she could possibly be.
My father was previously in a large group-run care home, and Fairholme is ten times better. All the staff are very caring to their residents. Not once have I seen any staff not wanting to help my dad. He has been at Fairholme for about ten weeks and is really happy. The staff promptly respond to calls, usually within a few minutes; previously, at another home, he was lucky to get a response within half to an hour! They have good security, and I’m happy that he is being looked after safely and professionally. I would fully recommend Fairholme House to any of my friends.
This care home is very unique. It’s more like a home than normal care homes. An old building set in a lovely village. It’s a family owned business which means a closer relationship with family and residents. The staff are very helpful and caring and give the care which suits personnel. My mum was in there for two weeks and the staff were lovely to her. My mum can be demanding at times so always a worry when she goes to respite. She left happy and willing to go back.
Fairholme kindly looked after my husband whilst I had surgery. The care and kindness he received were exemplary. The food was delicious and was always available throughout the day. His room was also very comfortable. Three years earlier my very elderly mother was well cared for at Fairholme which is why I felt happy having my husband spend his two weeks’ respite at the home.
My experience with Fairholme House has been nothing but positive. The team at the home are kind and caring and communicative. It has been a tough time for the carers at the home due to COVID restrictions and the challenges it has brought but the staff have never let the challenges affect the care of the residents. I would highly recommend Fairholme House and the team who work there, my friend feels safe and secure and is very happy.
After long deliberations over finding the best place for Mum, Fair Holme House ticked all the boxes. My mother has been a resident for almost 12-months. I never thought she’d settle in a residential care home. But from the first visit, she was taken by the staff and made so welcome. Moving in during the pandemic wasn’t ideal, she was extremely anxious, but the staff were amazing, and within the first few days, it was evident. It was definitely the right place. It’s very welcoming and homely. Not full of long clinical corridors and generic rooms. Not only are the staff amazing, she sings the praises constantly about the lovely homecooked food. She took in a biscuit barrel full of supplies ‘just in case you don’t get enough grub!’ I took them away with her consent as she says, ‘you don’t go hungry in here. Mum feels very at home in a safe environment.12-months on, she’s happier than ever. Don’t take my word for it, ask her yourself.
When I could no longer provide the care needed for Mum, who has Dementia, I chose Fairholme House. From my first visit, I knew it was the right place, as it was small and very homely. The care and attention given is absolutely brilliant. They appear to have good communication with the doctors and health care team, which is crucial. Mum has been at Fairholme for 6-months and has settled in well and is very happy.
My mother has only been a resident for the past few weeks but with credit to the staff, she has settled and is happy. She has a lovely room overlooking the garden with a en suite that is kept clean and although small, this means she can use it safely and independently day and night. She enjoys the entertainment and the company of other residents which is nice to see. Food is freshly prepared and frequent and I am pleased to know she has gained weight. As well as the dedicated staff, the management and owners are easily approachable and can answer any questions or concerns you may have. As this is a smaller home with a wonderful homely atmosphere, visitors are always welcomed. It is so beneficial to know that your relative is safe and happy and well cared for, making difficult decisions much easier.
My other has been a resident at Fairholme House for the last six-plus years. To summarise: The manager and her team of carers are second to none. They have during my mother's time at Fairholme showed compassion, dedication, skill, good humour, respect, understanding and kindness - doing a job that must be quite stressful, especially during the pandemic. The food is of the highest quality - served on beautifully laid tables - and homemade cakes and hot drinks are available to residents (and visitors!) between meals. Communication between relatives and the manager/staff and the owners is extremely easy and questions and suggestions are always welcomed and carefully listened to. As a visitor, I have always been made to feel very welcome. Entertainment - of high quality - is frequently arranged. We simply could not have found a better residential care home.
My mother has been at Fairholme House for several years and is very happy there. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful and always make me feel welcome. They all worked extremely hard during the various lockdowns to keep the residents safe. My mother has enjoyed the various entertainments laid on and she loves sitting in the very pretty garden in the good weather. I cannot speak highly enough about all the staff, they are like a family to me and my mother.
My mother has been a resident since September 2021. On visiting the home before my mother moved in, the Manager and owners were so welcoming, kind and understanding and I immediately felt that my mother would like it there. All of the staff are always friendly and respectful. My mother seems to have settled in well and is enjoying having company and the people around her. She had a short period after moving in when she was very poorly and I cannot commend the Manager and staff for all they did to assist with her recovery. My mother loves her room which is bright, clean and airy. The home and communal areas always look clean and tidy. My mother enjoys being in her room watching TV but also enjoys group activities in the lounge. There is regular entertainment such as a singer coming in which my mother thoroughly enjoys. I feel at ease knowing she is somewhere safe and is looked after by such caring staff.
My mother has recently relocated to Fairholme House from a much larger (and more expensive) care home in Somerset. From minute one the staff have been both efficient and friendly, immediately putting mum at ease and welcoming her to the new environment. After her first three weeks, mum is very happy in her placement and in particular makes frequent reference to the quality, style and choice of food on offer which she thoroughly enjoys. She also comments on the friendly nature and consistency of staff, both factors standing at odds with her previous home. From a personal standpoint, I have found the management team easy to deal with and very accessible. They have speedily reacted to one or two minor requirements to enhance mum’s comfort. I believe that whilst Fairholme is operating within an older property, which does bring its own issues, service provision appears excellent and to be commended.
My mother-in-law was a resident at Fairholme House for 5 years. During that time, my mother-in-law was treated with dignity and respect. The manager always went above and beyond to provide exceptional care right up until my mother in law passed away. There would have been no better place for my mother in law to be during these tricky years, that she was unable to care for herself. The owner also always treated my mother in law with the utmost respect and us as a family, we were so welcome and felt at home whenever we visited, which my husband did every day.
My Mother was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago and has been a resident of Fairholm since. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful to her and to my family when we call or visit. My mother is always complimentary about the staff when I talk to her. Her room is decorated with her own pictures and ornaments and she overlooks the walled garden which makes her happy. She has her own TV, newspapers and books if she wants to read on her own or she can go downstairs to the communal area to be with other residents.
It is a very hard and tough decision to decide that your parent needs to go into care, but from the moment I contacted Fairholme House to Dad’s arrival last year I was treated with kindness, understanding and respect by all staff. Dad has settled in well and is extremely well cared for by the staff, District Nurses and a local Doctor as required. The food is very good and staff soon got used to Dad’s likes and dislikes! The main meal is served at noon and all residents are encouraged to sit down together, which I think is important. Supper is more informal and there is always a good selection offered to residents. Fairholme has a warm and homely feel to it and all communal areas are clean and tidy. Staff engage with residents and are understanding and respectful of their needs. Dad enjoys the variety of activities that are in place at the home.
