View Full Details of Wellesley Road Care HomeAs a family we cannot be happier that our mother is now a resident at Wellesley Road. The staff are OUTSTANDING! Calm, kind, and experienced in treating our mum with interest and respect. The medical care has also been excellent especially as our mother's physical and cognitive needs change. We feel very lucky that she is a resident!
This purpose-built home is clean, bright and airy and having had experience with other homes this place with its spacious rooms, private shower rooms is a cut above the rest. The staff are kind patient and well trained. I cannot recommend Wellesley Road and the team highly enough.
Upon initially viewing Wellesley Road it presented clean and well managed. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. My mother's time spent at the care home was the uplift and interaction she needed. As a family, we were all welcomed and encouraged to visit often. Warm friendly atmosphere and we were always kept up to date on my mother's progress. My mother was able to mingle with other residents and also take time for herself. I would recommend Wellesley Road to anyone in search.
Our father has been at Wellesley Road since 2019 and has settled. Despite initial problems with previous management there now seems to be more compassion and better communication with family. Our father is looked after as well as can be but I think there needs to be more staff on each unit as I feel there needs more engagement with residents rather than just being in the TV lounge. The staff are lovely and caring but we sense there isn’t enough of them. When we visit our father he seems ok but needs a little more self care i.e nails and hair to be cared for more.
My aunt had been in Wellesley Road since approx 2016. She loved the home, the carers and all the other staff she came in contact with on a daily basis. She passed in January 2024, the home phoned me and were very caring and offered me someone to talk to any time I wanted. When we went to clear her room we were overwhelmed with the amount of staff saying how sorry for our loss they are were and how much they would miss my aunt. The manager was very kind and sat us down and ran through everything we would need to do moving forward to arranging my aunt's funeral. We would like to thank all the staff at Wellesley Road for looking after my aunt extremely well over her stay there.
Place was clean and tidy, with no nasty smells. Staff appeared to be nice and treated residents well and with respect. Anything that you asked they did their best to accommodate and did things promptly. Some staff were more approachable than others.
My partner who is 92 suffers from dementia and has already a few weeks in Wellesley Care Home. He is very well looked after. The place is kept very clean. The carers are very devoted to their job and do their best to keep him happy.
I started at Wellesley Road Care Home as a volunteer as I worked for the local council for 36 years and was now retired and I thought it would be good to give back and some time to get to know the people. When I started at Wellesley Road Care Home I found the carers and staff were very caring and looked after all the different clients very well with their needs and disability. I found the staff very caring and friendly and helped in every way towards the running of the home. I found the office staff and manager made me feel very welcome and showed me the sure running of the building and the needs of the people. I cannot say enough about the running of the home.
I have nothing but praise for the team at Wellesley Road. My aunt spent the last four years here as her dementia progressed, the majority on the Madrid unit, where she was treated as an individual and given care in a respectful and professional manner. She had a consistent core team around her who became familiar with her ways and understood her needs. She seemed a lot more relaxed and content living in a safe environment and could take part in social activities if desired. After her hospital stay, she was able to return to Wellesley Road and be cared for in the Oslo unit until she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
We could not have asked for a better placement for our mother. The staff are amazing, the place is always spotless, clean and tidy. No request made by our family to the staff has been too much trouble. Never had an issue and feel comfortable to address any concerns with the staff. I would recommend this home as a placement. Thank you to all the staff and the wider team for supporting mum. From all of mum's family.
I have visited my friend on several occasions during May, June, July and August and have always found the management and staff to be welcoming and friendly. The team there are professional and capable of dealing with problematic situations with consideration and care. I feel confident that my friend is being well looked after and with due consideration for her special needs.
Arranging for Dad to go into full-time care has been both daunting and, of course, sad. All of a sudden, there were so many questions that we needed to find answers to. Given the pressures on the care sector and the NHS, Dad was offered a place at Wellesley Road Care Home without my sister and I being able to visit it first. We had to make the decision 'on the fly', and this only added to our concerns. Thankfully, those questions started to be answered as soon as we stepped inside, from being greeted at reception and a meeting with the manager. Almost immediately, there was a feeling of complete confidence that Dad was in the right place. This confidence has grown over the last months as we have got to know Dad's carers and nursing team, many on first-name terms. We feel that the staff's continued professionalism and commitment have helped Dad get slowly accustomed to his new life. A special thanks go to the nursing team, who have done wonders in improving a long-term condition.
So far, so good. Happy with most things since Mum care here.
I do visit my long term friend as her son asked me to do it while he is abroad. She is happy, they gave her medication on time, when she was at home she couldn’t manage that. My friend's room looks nice, clean and we were allowed to decorate it with my friend's pictures and personal touches. Carers are friendly and caring. I have spoken to the manager twice and he takes action immediately. The home is clean and the staff are visible always, when my friend speaks her native language the staff try to understand her and make sure she feels cared. We are happy with the staff. Thank you.
Lovely, friendly staff who are also very helpful. The home (Wellesley Road Care Home) is clean and also has a lovely garden that is very relaxing to sit in.
My aunt lived in Wellesley Road Care Home for almost eight years. She died there recently aged 97! The staff who cared for her were wonderful. They were like a family to her, and that meant so much to us as she had no family in the UK. They always made us feel so welcome when we came to visit. When she was dying, they were so caring and compassionate. They made what was a very sad event so much easier. Even after she died, they did everything possible to help us, and it was lovely to see them at her funeral. Well done all at Wellesley Road Care Home.
On the whole, I have been very happy with the general organisation at Wellesley Road Care Home where my mum stayed for 5 years in Dublin. The reception team have always functioned extremely well. The staff members were kind and available regarding the questions I wanted to ask. However, I strongly believe it is a shame that the space outdoors, the garden, was not being used. The architect who built this house had created this space not only to become an ashtray but especially to be used on beautiful English Summer days (with a few flowers to be added!). Instead of leaving the pensioners in a stuffy room with the television on all day, what difference does it make to put them in armchairs outside? Fresh air has never harmed anyone and this is probably the last pleasure people have at the end of their lives. Also, there is great variety in the lunches with nice cooked vegetables. By contrast, the dinners are very monotonous.
My aunt came to Wellesley Road Care Home in September 2019. She was at that time 92 years old and, even though she could not walk and was suffering from dementia, she was most reluctant to enter a care home. Right from the start, staff were kind, caring and always positive. They all do a fabulous job - a job, I have to say, that most folk would find impossible to do. She was made to feel welcome right away and was given a bright, airy room, with top en-suite facilities and round-the-clock care. By the time I next visited her, a week or so after her moving in, she was happy and cheerful in a way that I had not seen in a long time. Wellesley Road truly became my aunt's home from home and she made many friends. When, at the end of her life, she was taken into hospital, staff went to visit her in their own time! That is really five-star service. I cannot thank Wellesley Road and its staff enough for what they have done for my family.
I am always struck by how welcoming and cheerful everyone is at Wellesley. The staff have a wonderful relationship with the residents, and it is obvious that they know them really well. The room in which our contribution to the activities takes place is bright and well maintained, when appropriate, we meet outdoors and the staff have been very helpful in organising this. They understand that it is important to provide stimulation to those who are in long-term residence and they are attentive to the needs of each person. They know each persons individual personality and characteristics and tailor the care that they give to each person.
I cannot praise Wellesley Road Care Home enough. All the staff do such a wonderful job that there really isn’t a way to thank them all enough. I have both of my parents in this care home and they all do an exceptional job of looking after them with the love and care that my mum and dad need. I really couldn’t have Mum and Dad in a better care home and that is down to all the staff and the manager. I have peace of mind knowing that Mum and Dad are being looked after the way they are by all the staff and this gives me and my family peace that they are safe, cared for and brilliantly looked after by everyone. I trust the staff at the care home and that is worth its weight in gold. It’s a hard job what they all do, day in and day out, but they all have a smile on their faces. It really is commendable. Thank you to each and every member of staff at Wellesley Road.
