View Full Details of Abbeyfield House - New MaldenVery happy with the level of care Mum receives, the staff are amazing, happy and professional yet caring and patient. The home is always clean and fresh and decorated for an occasion, with the residents all given a chance to help. The activities are wonderful and aimed at the correct level for inclusion by all. Feels very homely and as visitors we are always made to feel welcome. Staff recognise and know who we are and our names which is nice. Most important mum is happy and content. It is always a pleasure to visit.
Mum has been a resident here since February 2015 and during that time her dementia and physical mobility have worsened. The staff are excellent, continuing to support Mum as her needs increase. Activities have been reinstated post-pandemic and the garden looks wonderful and Mum continues to enjoy living there. As a relative I feel supported by the staff and welcomed whenever I visit.
My mum has been a resident at Abbeyfield House for over 2 years now. It was a very heartbreaking and emotional decision to make as a family but she needed to be cared for and supported in a safe environment. The care home has a very warm, welcoming homely and clean feel, with lovely gardens which surround the property that everyone can enjoy. All of the staff at all levels are extremely kind, caring and compassionate. I affectionately refer to them as my Abbeyfield Family! I am always comfortable in approaching anyone if I have any worries or queries. The residents have a weekly activity planner. Pet therapy, yoga, bingo and musical entertainment being just some of the examples. There are also seasonal events such as Christmas parties and summer BBQs all of which are amazing experiences we can all share with our families to make memories with our loved ones... can't wait for the next one! I would certainty recommend Abbeyfield House to other families.
I visit the resident once per week, and have done since her arrival at the home. I have generally found the staff hard-working and caring for the needs of both the individual I visit and the others in the section of the home where my resident is living. I am also a member of a group who visit to take a short service on a monthly basis. These range between 6 and 15 who attend - the variance relates to the number of staff available and the needs of the individual resident.
My sister has been a resident of Abbeyfield House since March 2020 and in her time here her dementia has progressed greatly. The staff and management have been amazing at meeting her needs, making adaptations and providing extended care. Entertainment at the home has improved greatly since one member of staff in particular has joined the team and he has organised some lovely tea parties and music events. I am extremely grateful for the care my sister has at Abbeyfield and the communication I receive regarding any changes, including when she is Resident Of The Week when I can give input on anything she may need or any concerns.
My mother has been at Abbeyfield for 6 months following a move from another care home. Initially both my sister and I were very concerned that she would struggle to cope with the move but have been very pleased with how quickly she has settled. The care that staff have shown has been excellent and management of the home have been very responsive to any requests/suggestions that we have made. Abbeyfield is a home that I would have no hesitation in recommending to other families and wish we had found it earlier.
My father was resistant to the suggestion that a care home would be good for him at previous assessment meetings. He is a heart patient with vascular dementia and was rapidly losing his ability to cope in the one bedroom assisted living flat he was in. After a heart episode where he was taken to hospital it was deemed necessary for him to be transferred directly to a care home thereafter. Abbeyfield have been brilliant at making him feel comfortable and cared for. He loves it there and cannot remember resisting the idea. I visit him most days and am hugely relieved and grateful to them for looking after him so well.
I find Abbeyfield to be a very warm, caring and cosy place for my mother. She has been a resident since May this year. The staff are very kind towards Mum and all of the residents. I would recommend the home to anyone.
My mother came to Abbeyfield earlier this year, and I was very worried about how she would react, but she seemed to settle straight away. The staff are so lovely and caring, always friendly and polite. My mum is treated with dignity and respect. Her room is very spacious, with her own shower and toilet room. The home is very clean and tidy. My mum is kept warm, fed and clean, I really couldn’t ask for anything else! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff! I go home now, and I have no worries about her safety and care at all.
Very clean, staff approachable and friendly. Willing to help with any issues or concerns raised. My sister seems content there, and I am satisfied that she seems well cared for, which helps to give her family peace of mind.
My mother has been a resident at Abbeyfield House Care Home since 2017. My sister and I are very happy with the care that she receives there. She is always clean and presentable and the care workers offer her a choice of clothing each day. Her condition and behaviour are managed very well and she has grown very fond of a number of the care workers. Communication is very good. I am kept well informed, as an example when they feel she needs to see the GP and when she is resident of the day. They advise us of any risks which they have identified in relation to Mum’s care, recently they introduced crash mats and bed sensors to manage any risk of injury if Mum fell out of bed. I know that Mum’s well-being is a top priority. My sister and I both feel my mum is still here at the age of 93 because she is a resident at Abbeyfield, New Malden.
Lovely, helpful staff on duty. Very clean environment. My dad is settling well and looking forward to the new activities coordinator giving him things to do. I was not aware of who his key worker was, and they have never contacted me. I don’t know who was in charge of his first review, but it was staggered with people coming at different times and no representation from the staff. Very unprofessional.
My mum was initially sent to Abbeyfield House Care Home on a two-week assessment and it was very daunting for me as I had to make the decision as to whether it was the right place for her. I have to say I was very impressed and fully informed of how Mum's stay would work and what they would do for her and that was a relief. Following the assessment, it became obvious that Mum needed to be here full-time and there was no doubt in my mind that she would receive the care that she needed. The staff and carers are always very friendly and happy to help.
My mother moved in 4 weeks ago and is settling really well. She is happy with her room and food and has joined in all activities. Interaction with other residents and the staff makes her feel welcome and part of the community. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help.
My aunt was a resident of Abbeyfield House, New Malden for five years until her death in September this year. I visited regularly and was always impressed by the level of care given to her. All the Staff - carers and others - were always friendly and went out of their way to make my Aunt comfortable and to welcome me whenever I visited. In particular, her named carer treated her with the affection and gentleness of a loving daughter. The staff continued the same care throughout the difficulties and discomforts of working under Covid restrictions, I am very grateful that my Aunt received her "End of Life" care there at Abbeyfield House. Two of the carers attended my Aunt's funeral. They did so in their own time out of respect and affection for my Aunt. It would have been fitting for Abbeyfield House to pay them for their time, I am disappointed that this did not happen. They were valuable ambassadors for Abbeyfield.
The home provides very good care for my Grandma and she is happy living at Abbeyfield. The staff are really helpful, friendly, caring, and you can see that the majority are very dedicated to their role. The staff always keep in contact with updates and will let me know if I need to bring anything when I visit. The home is managed well, I have recently raised a concern with the manager and I was listened to, the matter was resolved promptly and all correspondence was followed up by email. It is great that they are able to organise events again, I visited the Jubilee celebrations today and the team had worked very hard to put on such a lovely themed party for residents and their families. The home is always clean, tidy, tastefully decorated with colour co-ordinated furnishings and the entrance is very welcoming, the gardens are also well maintained. Most importantly I feel I can talk to the staff about anything regarding my grandmother's care and they respond positively.
Our experience of Abbeyfield House and care home is limited to just two weeks since my mother was admitted. We found the visit beforehand to be very good in the way that everything was explained to us as to the procedure and found reassurance that our actions by the family were the right ones in their ability to care for our mother. After all, it is a very stressful and uncertain time when you make this decision. We have found the manager and his staff to be very welcoming and accommodating to us and has provided reassurance that our decision was the right one and that Mum would be in the right place to receive the care that she needs. We particularly are pleased with the fact that we can visit mum virtually any time we like which we hope that we and family members will continue to do. We are particularly looking forward to the upcoming Jubilee celebrations that we have all been invited to!
We would like to say how much we appreciated all that you, the manager of the care home, and your colleagues did for one of your residents, the wife of my late cousin, to help her in every way possible prior to and after his funeral on August 5th. In particular, you enabled her to purchase appropriate clothes and after the funeral, you arranged for those of us who attended to have refreshments so that we could spend time with her at this difficult time. We are much indebted to you all. In addition, in our previous visits, we were made very welcome and arrangements were made to make both us and our my cousin's wife feel completely at ease, helped greatly by a senior care assistant. Thank you so much.
The staff at Abbeyfield have managed the Covid situation extremely well, considering the government restrictions. I am now allowed some access to my husband, who has clearly been very well cared for during lockdown. The staff are so caring and supportive and make me feel very welcome when I visit, as well as adhering to the safety protocols.
My mum has been in Abbeyfield House since Aug 2020. She arrived in the middle of COVID, and was very unsettled, to begin with, but the staff really helped her settle in. Since then I have found them very approachable, and happy to discuss any issues about my mum's care, and act on them where possible. Mum is still a little unsettled, due to her dementia, but the staff do all they can to help her. I know she is safe and cared for in their hands. She loves the food and has actually put on weight since arriving. Hopefully, more activities will restart, in the near future, as COVID restrictions are lifted, which may help her participate more. Since in-room visiting has been allowed, I have seen for myself how lovely and clean the home is, and none of those nasty smells associated with some homes. Thank you, all the kind staff at Abbeyfield House.
