When we first viewed the home in April 2024 our first impression was it was old. The furniture, well fare facilities are all small. The home was well-used but is in need of redecoration and refurbishment, modernising as everything looks 2nd hand. The home itself is secure, and access control is well managed, making it safe so guests can't just walk off. All the staff are very attentive to everyone, showing lots of care for their needs. It's a very challenging home to work in. There is lots of visible maintenance just that needs fixing. The food is all good and fresh and smells great. The manager is very nice as are all the staff there.
My friend and his wife were the victims of very unfortunate circumstances and are now living at Acorn House, extremely happily. The staff are wonderfully attentive. Thanks to all involved.
Mum is very happy and likes her bedroom. She loves the garden. The staff are nice and helpful. Mum says that she likes the care home. It would be helpful to know what activities Mum joins in with if any.
I can't speak highly enough of the friendly, dedicated care staff and management of Acorn House. My wife is cared for with love, compassion and dignity by all. Nothing is too much trouble. Recent improvements to the fabric of the building although of secondary importance to the care given are a great improvement and much appreciated.
Staff are caring and treat them with respect.
All carers are extremely conscientious. They are attentive to the needs of residents and create a welcoming and positive environment. The manager was really professional and helpful with all my nan's needs. She will be communicating with the family about any occurrences. I am glad my nan is in a safe place and looked after very well.
First impressions, the home looks a little tied; however, do not judge a book by its cover! Inside, the reception area is bright and welcoming. The conservatory is nicely decorated, quiet room and dining area. My father's room is large, bright and airy, with ample furniture. The staff are amazing, from management, nurses and kitchen staff. They patiently answered all my questions. Nothing was too much trouble. Acorn House is a very warm, friendly place where the residents are treated like family. Nothing is rushed, and everything is done with kindness and a smile. Ongoing improvements in the house are underway. Highly recommend.
The staff are very professional and caring when dealing with Dad who because of his difficult behaviour is not easy to manage. They are always available to chat to about any worries we might have and treat Dad as an individual and not just a service user.
My wife really enjoyed her stay at your home. I too noticed your staff and management looked after my wife very well. The manager, carers and other staff were very kind and their behaviour was very satisfactory.
My wife was transferred from hospital on 16th November after 5 days in A&E Serious Injuries Unit. She is very happy and settled in Acorn House being cared for. Family visit regularly in very calm surroundings with staff who care.
My mother moved into the care home in August 2022. She has settled in very well and always seems happy when we visit. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating allowing us to visit at hours that coincide with my working hours. The home always appears clean and the food is varied and my mother seems to enjoy the selection. Overall I am happy with our decision to move her here.
My father has been very happy at Acorn House care home. The staff are friendly and attentive. They made a big fuss of him on his birthday. I too am happy with the care he has received.
A wonderful experience every time I visit. She is clean and tidy and always happy, She is very well looked after by wonderful hard-working staff. The staff and manager make us feel very welcomed. Even pausing their meetings to greet us. We are always offered tea and biscuits with a smile. Nothing is too much for them and queries are sorted quickly. A lovely home!
This home continues to impress me. My wife has dementia and has been in the home for almost 3 years. I have nothing but praise for the way she is treated. I know that she is content and therefore so am I. The staff are lovely and go to great lengths to help us live as normal a life as possible. For example, recognising and helping us to celebrate significant events eg anniversaries and special birthdays.
I am happy with my brother's residency at Acorn House. The staff and management are professional, helpful and caring. My brother has many medical needs which the staff deal with efficiently. The home is clean and welcoming and because of my brother's condition, I always find the staff very accommodating regarding my visits. I would like to thank all the team at Acorn House for their continued care of my brother.
From the first day I took my husband to Acorn House for respite, we were greeted so warmly and found the staff to be very caring. My husband has now been placed permanently at Acorn House and I have found the manager and all her staff to be very understanding and very keen to make sure all his needs are met. I miss my husband very much and know this is a transition period for me. They have also been very comforting and reassuring to me. Even though I miss him so much I know when I leave him he will be well looked after.
During Covid times the home has been excellent in their infection control. They have managed to keep all residents protected against the virus and the residents (my mum especially) has appeared extremely happy in how the staff have cared for her. I was able to have regular contact with my mum on video chat and it was comforting to see that she was been well looked after. With restrictions being lifted, it has been a joy to return back to visiting my mum and once again, the staff have been very efficient with testing visitors before allowing us access to visits. Throughout this time, the communication between staff and myself has been excellent, I have always felt that I have been kept up to date with everything to do with my mum and her care. As always, it is a pleasure to visit Acorn House as the atmosphere is very much like a family environment. The staff show care, compassion, dignity and love to all the residents and this is very commendable.
We could not fault the care, the hygiene, the food quality, the staff support or the efficient and professional leadership of this care home. We have had three close relatives living in residential care over the years in various homes, and we are familiar with a number of care providers and supporting living homes. Acorn House stands out as the best. First-class professionalism. This is a rare find and needs to be recognised by the regulators.
Very pleased with the care given. It seems to be really friendly place. Lovely caring people.
Staff very friendly and polite. Have taken great care of my father. The room and facilities are just right for him. He looks so much better now than when he was in the hospital. Thank you to all the staff.
