Having visited a number of care homes over the years, I continue to be amazed at just how good Antokol is. Way better than anything I have seen before. It is truly outstanding in every respect and has more of the feel of an exclusive country hotel rather than a traditional care home. The management and all the staff seem to go that extra mile in the quality of their care, catering, activities and general standards to make the residents feel at home and part of a family. My mother has been a resident here for several years and my family and I have complete confidence in the quality of care she is receiving.
Antokol consistently delivers the level of care I hoped for when choosing a care home for my mum. The staff are always well presented, welcoming and so tolerant and compassionate. Antokol has a lovely, friendly atmosphere and it really is made to feel like home. It is always spotless, the grounds are beautifully maintained and any jobs or improvements are carried out efficiently and with minimum disruption. There is always a member of the management team present, they are approachable and very willing to help. It seems to me that from the smallest detail to the serious medical care, everything is carried out to the highest professional standard and nothing is overlooked in trying to provide a comfortable, happy home for the residents.
I can't commend the home highly enough. The staff are like an extended family. The care that they provide is always delivered with appropriate dignity and respect. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Excellent communication too.
My brother, sister and I have already written reviews for Antokol which were published in December 2023. Sadly our mother passed away in June 2024. It would therefore seem fitting to leave one final review. We would like to pay tribute to Antokol for the exemplary way in which they cared for our mother during her final days and for the support they provided to us as a family. We will be eternally grateful to the team members for the kindness and compassion they genuinely showed from the day our mother entered Antokol to the day that she finally left.
Antokol is a wonderful care home. All the people who work there are lovely and there is such a caring environment. It is warm, clean, safe and loving. There are parties and activities and my mum is settling in very well.
Antokol has again provided consistent excellence in their care and service for my mother and I have indicated as such in every category listed and this also reflects our entire family's opinion. There is always a good friendly atmosphere in the care home. The staff are professional in their roles and responsibilities and show genuine, wonderful kindness and respect for their residents. It is simply an excellent care home.
For me, Antokol stands out for its amazing caring staff, homely, maintained environment and superb food. My mother feels safe and cared for, and she appreciates the little extras like the availability of an in-house hairdresser and personal fitness coach.
Over the last three years, all my visits to see my mother at the care home have been consistently very positive. My mother is obviously extremely well cared for and her appearance is invariably elegant. She is very fond of all the members of staff who are so kind and welcoming towards me, too.
As soon as you walk through the door, you can feel the love and care. My mum and my family are blessed to be treated as part of this loving home. There is a calm as soon as you enter, and nothing is too much trouble. The residents are treated with the utmost respect regardless of the reason they are there.
Antokol is truly a home. Anyone who visits is made so very welcome. I hold Power of Attorney for two residents, both very different and both looked after so compassionately according to their individual needs. It is a huge responsibility to hold POA, however, I have no qualms at all about leaving my residents in the care of Antokol. They feel safe, secure and wonderfully looked after. I also have to mention how clean the home is, how well-kept the grounds are, how residents are encouraged to be involved in so many aspects of home life and above all, how nutritionally well-fed they are. There is a caring ethos which permeates every corner of the home. It richly deserves all the accolades it has received.
Mum has been at Antokol since March 2021. Everything about the home is first class, when we had to move Mum from her previous care home we had no faith in finding anywhere that could deal with Mum's needs but Antokol can. All the staff and management are caring and truly put their residents' needs first, we are confident that Mum has found her 'home'. Although Mum is unable to join in with activities and spends most of her time in bed or her chair, the staff take her to the garden, weather permitting, or the communal lounge if Mum is happy with that. We visit Mum as often as we can and are always welcome by the staff. We no longer worry about Mum as we know she is very well cared for. The home itself is beautiful as are the gardens, where many events are held which all relatives are welcome to attend. I highly recommend Antokol.
Antokol is a little piece of heaven in Holbrook Lane Chislehurst. The manager is at the helm and leads a fantastic team. The environment is homely and spotlessly clean, it’s like walking into your own home. The HCA’s are professional in all they do, showing empathy, kindness and always going the extra mile for all the residents. The housekeeping staff, kitchen staff and the gardener/handyman go above and beyond their duties. The atmosphere is upbeat and positive, the staff promote person-centred support and treat each resident individually. The staff know each person's little ways and what works and what doesn’t work for each person, this can then give family members peace of mind. Each resident's Birthday is celebrated with a homemade cake. The food is made from scratch and is delicious. I cannot speak highly enough of Antokol and every member of staff. I wish every nursing home was at the same standard as Antokol. Thank you Manager and every single member of staff.
My grandmother has been a resident since 2021, once settled she has always been treated with kindness and respect by staff. I often think they treat her like their own grandmother! Facilities and food are excellent, always welcoming and friendly on the whole.
I feel my mother could not be better cared for anywhere else. The management is excellent, responding to individual needs promptly and always looking for any improvements that can made to enhance the care. The staff demonstrate great professionalism, treating my mother with kindness, patience and dignity. Their interaction is never hurried and always show good understanding.
My mother went to Antokol Care Home last year and spent ten months there. The care she received was wonderful, it truly provided care and a home for her. I witnessed so many gestures of kind thoughtful staff actions. The home is spotless, and the grounds are immaculately kept. The residents were encouraged to go out in it, whenever possible and the summer house provided shelter, if needed. They used this more when covid rates went up. The staff encourage visiting at any time, as required. There is mass there, for residents who find comfort from this. The food is tasty and eastern European, but there are options for people at every meal. They celebrate birthdays beautifully and many residents are in their nineties and hundreds. The GP service has been incredible. And as my mother needed end-of-life care, she was able to stay in the care home whilst I received updates on her health and felt involved. Unlike recent experiences at the local hospital. Lastly, there’s a resident dog, Max, who the residents love.
My brother lived in Antokol for nearly thirteen years. He was always treated with kindness, patient understanding and respect. All his needs were met with professionalism and attention to detail. The atmosphere at Antokol was always friendly and the daily arts and crafts as well as cooking activities greatly added interest to the residents’ lives. The chapel, library and religious worship, summer garden parties, birthday parties, regular concerts and staff shows, and indeed the excellent home cooking, completely fulfilled his cultural and social needs. It was a true home from home. My brother really loved living at Antokol!
The care given at Antokol is outstanding. The carers are kind, efficient, organised, cheerful and friendly. There is a high proportion of carers to residents so residents are never left alone for long periods. I think the carers go above and beyond. My father was always treated with respect and dignity. My father was always in fresh clothes/pyjamas, clean and tidy with well-cut hair and nails. His room was warm and cosy. Bedding changed frequently. The food was home-cooked and tasty. His water intake was monitored carefully - there was always water on hand. Before he became bedridden he was taken into the lovely garden whenever the weather allowed. A visit to a local plant nursery and cafe was a highlight at the start of his stay. If having a hospital visit he was always accompanied. There were weekly visits from the GP but any deterioration in health was noticed very quickly by the carers and resident nurse and action taken. Communication between the home and us was excellent.
My father was a resident at Antokol for almost 3 years until he passed away recently. I have nothing but praise for Antokol. They treated my parent with respect, they did their utmost to protect his dignity, they communicated efficiently with me, they provided a calm, sensitive, loving, caring environment. My father was always calm, clean, and relaxed when I saw him. Even when he died, Antokol dealt with the situation sensitively and provided support.
Antokol looked after my mum until she passed away. She was extremely well cared for. The staff and owners of Antokol were all amazing. They were kind, respectful and I couldn't have put my mum in a more beautiful home. She was happy there and I couldn't ask for better. I would highly recommend this care home.
Both our mothers had been residents at Antokol. Our mothers were always cared for with the utmost respect and gentleness. The staff at Antokol are unbelievable in their kindness. We fully understand how challenging this work can be, yet the staff were always calm and professional, ensuring that our mothers were always safe and as happy as they could be. Antokol was an absolute blessing in all our lives.
