View Full Details of Burrows HouseOur dad has only been with you for a short time, yet he has settled in and seems very happy. He tells us he loves the staff and has already made friends with other residents. I am so happy we chose Burrows House. The whole atmosphere when you walk in is stimulating, friendly and fun.
My experience to date is that of an excellent standard of service provided. The staff are exceptional and are always very kind and caring. I feel very fortunate in finding 'Burrows House' after site visits to various other care homes that in my opinion were totally unacceptable.
My mother had her first day there, she fitted in very well. The staff were welcoming and there were children visiting the residents which was a great idea. The Christmas decorations added a nice attraction.
I'm really happy here, the staff are friendly, one member of staff, especially, is always cheerful. When my family come to see me on a Thursday, they feel welcomed by everyone. The food is marvellous! I enjoy the parties and sitting with my friend and colouring.
Always a warm feeling at Burrows House and the staff are really lovely and have a great relationship with the residents and are very welcoming to family members who come to visit. I feel happy my mum is being cared for in such capable hands.
Mum has been in the home for ten months now, settled in very well and seems to really enjoy the company of the other residents and the carers. Her bedroom is personalised and the whole home is very clean. Every member of staff here is very friendly and greets you by your first name, always asking after my dad who found it really hard when she moved in. All residents are given a cake and flowers on their birthday and they celebrate the day with other residents on their unit. They have numerous parties with a singer or music with the residents getting up dancing. Afterwards, they will have refreshments usually based on the theme of the party. They have visits from a local nursery, church and a panto group and do movement to music and gentle activities in their individual lounges. Yesterday they were all out in the garden having ice cream with music. As a family, we are very happy that we chose to send Mum to Burrows House. She is happy and that gives us peace of mind.
My dad went to Burrows House after being discharged from hospital after a major stroke for a Discharge Assessment. All the staff were very kind and my dad had excellent care during his 4 week stay. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming whenever we visited. His main carer not only helped Dad but she always took the time to update us on his progress and was supportive of us during this difficult time.
I have no need to write a review, as I cannot find one fault. Keep up the excellent work.
May I please be able to thank all staff at Burrows House for the nice way my dad was looked after until he passed away after nearly four years in their care. The staff includes the manageress, her deputy, the carers, the chef, the handyman, the cleaners, the organiser, the laundry personnel and kitchen people too. My dad was very happy there. I used to ask him if everything was alright and he used to say "better than jam", meaning you can't get better.
My mother has been a resident at Burrows for the past 8 years and my wife and I are extremely happy with our choice. On first setting foot in Burrows (without prior appointment) we were welcomed by a friendly staff member and invited to have a look around both floors. Our first impressions were that it was very warm, welcoming clean and caring and that is our opinion to this day. The staff are carefully chosen by the Manager and deal with sometimes very difficult situations with patience and diplomacy. My mother who is 96 and suffering from dementia did eventually settle in and in her own way is very content. She was always very fond of her food and enjoys the food provided which always looks and smells very appetising. A big thank you to all the staff who contribute to looking after my mum. It is very much appreciated. I would add that we looked at many homes before settling on Burrows and have never doubted our decision.
I wouldn’t put my worst enemy in this home. Avoid at all costs. Inexperienced staff who don’t care. Apart from one of his carers, who was amazing. Residents are ignored, no compassion, empathy or support. When your father is asked to leave after 2 weeks as they can’t cope with his dementia in a dementia home that’s worrying. Poor father having toilet accidents and being blamed for them when one inexperienced staff member is on shift with up to 8 residents so no one to assist him. Entertainment is having a ball thrown to and fro. So if you want your loved one to be neglected, drugged and lonely come here!
My father was a resident at Burrows House for 14 months until he passed away with end-stage Dementia at the end of October 2023. The carers at Burrows were fantastic, the care and love they provided was second to none, nothing was ever too much trouble. The food provided was first-class and plentiful. The laundry team were fantastic and their turnaround for getting clothes and bedding washed, dried and ironed was amazing. The wellbeing and entertainment team were another asset to Burrows House as there were always events being organised; birthdays, entertainers, church services, and more. Burrows was always beautifully decorated for Christmas, Easter etc. Lastly, the staff became like a second family to my Mum. She struggled at first and visited Dad every day. The staff were so patient, kind and supportive to her. Burrows helped her to cope and made the last months that she had with my Dad as happy as they could be. We will always be thankful for finding Burrows House for my Dad.
Burrows House is a welcoming home with friendly, caring and helpful staff. It’s always spotlessly clean, tidy and residents are well looked after. They offer regular meetings for families to attend as well as events throughout the year.
My mother lived at Burrows House for four years and the standard of care was outstanding. The compassion and respect shown for the residents enabled them to live their latter years with dignity. Sadly, my mother died in December 2023 but not before she reached the grand old age of 101. I honestly believe that it was the level of care that helped her to reach this remarkable age. Three members of staff also attended her funeral which touched all of the family very deeply. Thanks, once again, to all at Burrows House.
My mother was with Burrows House for five years until she sadly passed away in December 2023. The staff were amazing and always treated her with the utmost respect and kindness and as if she was one of their relatives. As a family, we always felt so lucky to have secured her place at Burrows and never had any concerns with her welfare while she was there. It is a very special place!
Thank you for caring for our aunt so attentively and making us welcome too. We are pleased to know that she is safe and happy. She is well fed and the staff are very chatty and friendly. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Burrows House is a warm welcoming home. My mother has dementia and has been here for 18 months. She is happy, safe and well cared for. There is a high staff retention which is important to her and us, knowing who is caring for her on a daily basis. Staff keep us updated and answer questions and queries we may have. Residents enjoy singing, dancing and parties, alongside other activities.
Lovely friendly home. Would like to see more activities being done for brain stimulation, some puzzles, or magazines to read would be nice. The residents are usually in the tv room when I visit and most of them are sleeping.
My mum has been in the Burrows House Care Home for two years now and after an initial settling-in period, has grown to love the place. I have always found all the staff to be very professional and kind towards my mum and myself. To be honest, I feel that if your loved one is happy in this environment there is very little else you can ask for. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone considering a placement.
My wife has now been a resident of Burrows House for six weeks following the deterioration of her dementia. The staff have been exemplary in helping her settle in and I have consistently found them helpful, professional and proactive. My wife has responded to their upbeat and positive approach.
