View Full Details of The BurroughsThe lovely staff are willing to go beyond to support residents, and the management team is always available and supportive. They have been amazing with me and my mother since she's been admitted in April 2024.
The Burroughs Care Home is a very friendly and caring home. They do lots of activities and days out for the residents. Keeping their minds working and their days busy. My mum is well looked after and seems very happy and settled there.
My father entered The Burroughs Care Home on the 30th of September. He suffers from Dementia. So far, I have been very impressed with the care he has been provided with. The carers are so patient and caring especially given how tough it must be dealing with a group of people all suffering from dementia. Dad is very confused and suffers from periods of intense agitation but I can't really fault the level of support he has received so far. As a family, we do find it a little frustrating that so many of his things go missing including hearing aids, glasses, watch, dentures (!), walking stick. We do understand the nature of the ward and that this is bound to happen but just feel sometimes nothing is done until we visit. We also really would like his room to receive a new coat of paint. It needs to be a lot brighter. Impressed by the quality of meals provided and Dad appears to be eating things he has never eaten before. Appear to be lots of activities available to the residents as well.
This year has been awful for me and my dad. My father who has vascular dementia, fell over in June. It was a horrendous time for us both. So we had to make decisions that were life-changing for us. I rang and spoke to such a warm, lovely lady. They said to pop in and have a chat and take a look around The Burroughs, So me and my family did just that. A very overwhelming time for us all but the lovely carers at The Burroughs made it easier. My father has been in there now for about 12 weeks and settling in quite nicely. He still has friends and family visiting. Goes out again with friends and family. All the staff at The Burroughs are friendly and some go above and beyond for my father, who is sometimes hard to please. He seems much calmer in himself too, which makes me feel calmer too. The food is good and healthy. They couldn't do enough for my father. I strongly recommend.
My mother has been in The Burroughs for almost two years. All the staff are very helpful, friendly and kind. I am always updated of any changes, events or gatherings. Every time I go to visit my mother I am met with smiley faces from staff and other residents. I am so thankful for all the love, support and care The Borroughs staff give to my mother. I am also very impressed with the decorations they put up each year for Christmas, and for all the activities and events they have on throughout the year for their residents. Most importantly the home feels very safe and secure at all times.
Mum was admitted from hospital in January 24. The Burroughs staff were really kind and caring towards both Mum and our family. The care home manager leads an amazing and compassionate team who made my mum very comfortable prior to her death a few weeks later. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home. I also want to recommend a particular staff member for his cooking!
Absolutely amazing home! My dad has Alzheimer's and had to leave home. I can not recommend enough. They have been amazing with my dad and also making me and my kids so welcome when visiting. Lots of activities for the residents to get involved in combined with lots of care and kindness from the staff. He is always clean and well cared for even if he always denies having breakfast every day lol. Special mention to one of the team leaders in particular, who has gone above and beyond!
My dad had end-stage dementia (vascular). His care at The Burroughs has been exemplary. He was always clean and comfortable. On the week he passed away, the staff were incredibly kind to all of my family. He was looked after with professionalism and compassion. They did everything that they could to make his final days as comfortable as could be. Every time I visited The Burroughs over the last five and a half years, everyone made me very welcome. The staff are truly lovely. I am very thankful for the wonderful care that my dad received.
My partner was under their care for a very brief time before sadly passing away. A person hard to please and originally resistant to entering care, she described The Burroughs as fantastic. The staff were friendly and attentive and her care was wonderful. I have thanked the staff there personally but felt I should add a review here.
The patience the staff have with my sister is amazing. Staff are patient and non-judgemental. The manager is amazing. She organises trips, entertainment at the home and encourages the residents to get involved. She is amazing. At my last visit, 2 days ago, she commented 'These people have worked all their lives and now they deserve and I want them to enjoy themselves, they deserve it' Lovely!
My sister, who has Alzheimer's, has been in the care of The Burroughs since November 2022 all the staff have been brilliant, and the level of care is outstanding. There have been many activities over the time she has been in the care so the residents all seem to be well cared for and included.
Staff are very helpful and attentive. Location is excellent with attractive outdoor spaces and gardens, which are well kept. Services provided are good. Food looked tasty and wholesome.
My father went to The Burroughs in 2020 and passed away earlier this month. I have been so impressed with the care home during my father's time at the home. The care home was especially kind when my father fell ill and in the last week or so of his life. Special thanks to the manager and one member of staff, although everyone I spoke to and dealt with was so kind and supportive. My dad had dementia and when he went to the care home he was very weak. The care home cared for him and helped him back to full strength. I am so grateful that my father enjoyed his last 18 months of life, being clean and in a safe and caring environment. I was always so impressed and happy to see the rapport that the staff had with my father, always engaging with him over his love of red wine and classical music! Thank you.
The staff were extremely hardworking and gave my Grandfather the best care possible at a really challenging time.
My dad was cared for so well. He was very happy at The Burroughs. The staff are walking angels, and even through the Coronavirus when we couldn't visit, they kept me informed, and I felt that he was well looked after. I lost my dad yesterday, and the staff looked after him through his death, which was dignified and beautiful. I will always be grateful to everybody that works there.
My father was admitted to The Burroughs from hospital at The Height of covid in June 2020 in traumatic circumstances. He had been diagnosed with cognitive diminishment. He was very confused as to why he couldn't go home and was angry. The staff worked professionally and with dignity to settle him and support me and my husband. End of life care and support was exceptional. Senior staff were brilliant in keeping me updated and facilitating visits until he died. Thank you. I can't express the extent of my gratitude.
I visited The Burroughs in October 2020 to visit my mother, who is a resident. I didn't get the chance to fully see all the facilities or meet all the staff, but those I did meet, including management, were extremely helpful and caring, particularly in view of current challenging times. I was reassured by their understanding and flexibility, and I left feeling that my mother is in a safe and caring environment. I was happy to learn about some of the activities taking place at the centre, and on my next visit, I'd like to learn more about the centre's different areas and facilities. Keep up the good work and many thanks to all the staff!
I attended The Burroughs with my mum for the first time last week to visit my aunt who is a resident in the care home. The staff could not have been more helpful. Covid restrictions were in place to make us feel protected and a room was set aside for the visit to take place. They even provided us with a pot of tea. My aunt obviously thought very highly of the staff. Well done to all for making us feel so welcome.
As always the staff was considerate and kind and I feel my Uncle is well cared for.
My Dad has been in The Burroughs care home since August 2018 and at that point, I would not have honestly thought at that time he would still be with us. The care he has received from the staff has been second to none and I so appreciate all the hard work this team has dedicated to not just my Dad but to other residents also. It took a while to accept my Dad having to go into a home but I soon realised that the staff have become his extended family. I find an awful lot of comfort from that as I live on the Isle of Wight and with work commitments, I, unfortunately, can't see my Dad as much as I would like. I also appreciate the time they take to listen to my Mum. Thank you very much for all you do at The Burroughs.
