After 11 months as a resultant brain stroke patient cared in a wonderful hospital ward in Italy, Kent House is as good a contrast. I have experience, the local hospital does not compare to the medical care in Italy. However, the staff in Kent House are helpful, looking after often unpleasant residents with extraordinary professional patience. Kindness is always the rule with patients who never show this returned. I have already recommended this place to another elder patient hoping they are more appreciative of the high level of care.
My mother-in-law is staying for respite at Kent house and even though she has only been there for 5 days she is very settled. All the staff are so professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this care home for peace of mind knowing your loved ones are cared for.
It's that time of life, when my father needs additional help and care to continue going forward. I'm a busy son with the responsibility of having to look after my father at home and juggling this with a full-time job and has been extremely challenging. Our next move to help with this situation has been to approach Kent House who have been very good at assisting me with the whole process to get the immediate support my father needs. The staff welcomed Dad from day one and took him under their care and has settled in a short space of time. The staff I've met so far have been very professional and supportive on this journey, and keen to get things done. The premises have a large open dining area and a large comfortable communal TV room, both I think are particularly important for the residents to feel relaxed and at home. The rooms are very adequate for their daily/nightly needs. Thank you to everyone at Kent House.
The staff are caring and work incredibly hard to ensure they enjoy all that life has to offer. From the minute you walk into the home it is very welcoming. It is the little things, from staff greeting you when moving around the home. The activities are daily have been very helpful and entertaining for my mother. We normally follow these activities daily on Kent House's social media page which provides opportunities to engage with my mum. The staff who care for the residents are so friendly, patient and considerate of their needs as each resident is different. The cleaning staff do a great job as well and they ensure everywhere is clean. Thank you to the wonderful team who care so passionately for my mum.
My mum stayed at Kent House for about three weeks for a respite care while I was on holiday. When I came to pick her up, Mum looked very happy and full of joy, kept on saying that she felt like she was surrounded by family and wants to stay there again! She has been to other respite care facilities during the last four years and this is the first time I saw such a positive reaction. So grateful to all staff who looked after her, they are amazing! Special thanks go to one staff member in particular who helped with Mum's language difficulties. Her support was fundamental in making Mum feel comfortable and reassured at all times. I honestly can't praise them enough for doing such a brilliant job!
My mum has been a resident of Kent House care home since January 2023. She has now settled and appears happy, comfortable and safe when I visit the care home. Kent House has a number of dementia patients at different stages, and I know from experience how tricky this can be. But I want to commend the home manager and his team. At no point did I, when visiting Mum, see anything but caring staff who do their best to look after the people they care for. Different stages of dementia could make for chaos, but our experience was that Mum is looked after very well, even when emotional. Well done, and thank you, team Kent House!
I find the staff kind and helpful and I really like the friendly atmosphere.
My dad became a resident at Kent House Care Home during the pandemic in January 2021. Once he had settled in, after the expected upset of a move from his old family home, he started to first like then enjoy his time there. He really does see Kent House as his home now and rarely asks about the old family home he'd lived in for many, many years! He is well cared for by staff who really care, they know his likes and dislikes and work for his best interests. Dad has enjoyed meal times, especially breakfast. The various activities in the care home keep Dad mentally and physically stimulated, all excellent for those suffering with dementia. All medication is well monitored and any medical issues which may arise are promptly dealt with. From my experience, Kent House staff give a good welcome to all residents and visiting family members. We've sometimes been given a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits when visiting too! Thank you!
This was the first time I left my mom, 92, with dementia. I was very concerned with her well-being and Kent House was just outstanding in all aspects. With my concerns I gave them about 5 lists of Mom's routine or lots of keywords in Portuguese translated to English, to help with communication. Also, I managed to find friends to visit her over the 2 weeks. And Kent House staff and accommodations were more than I could hope. Friends visiting her saw the lists and keywords around her, so lovely. Also, I saw many activities done with her and others on social media. In my return, Mom was happy and well. I never trusted to leave my old mom with anyone, but now, I would leave her again with Kent House any time. Thank you from both of us!
I cannot praise the whole team at Kent House highly enough. My dad has been a resident for almost a year now. The senior staff and management have always been extremely helpful to my dad, and communication has been great. I get constant updates regarding my dad and his wellbeing from staff via emails, calls, and when we do visit, we speak to staff for updates. The care staff, housekeeping team and admin are so welcoming. The catering staff also deserve praise too. A big thank you to everyone.
Kent House - amazing! The home is clean, warm, and welcoming. It really has a homely feel to it. From management to the team leaders, senior carers and health care assistants, and other departments of Kent House, they were so caring. They couldn't have asked for anything better, being consistently kind, considerate, and professional. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and the difference they make to people's lives in a positive way is immeasurable. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!
My father was a resident at Kent House, he was exhibiting extreme challenging behaviour and couldn’t be managed by the previous care home. Kent House assessed and supported my father. He improved tremendously and had one to one support from staff, GP and other input which helped him settle. My father had to move to another nursing home due to changes in care needs. Kent House did a great job and I thank all the staff at Kent House for their hard work supporting my father.
I will like to, first of all, thank the staff and management of Kent house for looking after my mum who has been a resident for almost six years. Throughout these years my family and I have visited and encountered different staff and it’s always been a welcoming environment on each visit. My mum recently passed away and we were happy with the care and support we received.
When Mum was transferred to a nursing home in December, men's clothing was included in the suitcase, half of her clothes had gone missing along with her watch. Also, her clock which has subsequently been found. Everything was creased and some items dirty in the suitcase, medication wasn’t ready along with the balance of her sundries account and the staff all seemed to be avoiding us.
My dad recently moved into the care home as he was placed by social services. The care home is far from where I live, but the management has been very considerate with their visiting times to enable me to come and see my dad. The staff are nice and always helpful when I call and need information regarding my dad. My dad says good things about the staff, and I always feel he is in a safe place and well looked after.
Avoid! On 13.10.22 my father was placed here by social services. A two-week placement became three months! Poorly managed establishment. Despite registering with Kent House's GP, still no regular diabetic checks three months on. Medication: Out of stock on many occasions. Food: Not nice. We spent a lot of funds on external food delivery services. Heating! Stopped working many times, October to December 2022. Neglect! My father had diarrhoea and was not attended to until I demanded they call 911 due to bleeding. Ignored - A official complaint against a senior staff member was ignored. Smell - 1st floor is very bad, strong Urine and excrement smell. Bedsheets - not changed regularly despite requests. On 05/01/23, I moved my father to another home. Only two days' worth of meds was provided and some meds missing as confirmed by the new home manager. Kent House and the new home are worlds apart! My father is very happy in his new home and my stress is 100% reduced.
Visited my father-in-law during his respite in Kent House, and the caring staff was very helpful. My father-in-law appeared well and happy in the care home. My father-in-law speaks well about the home since he retuned back to his home.
I found Kent House care come to be a good place for my dad to be looked after. The care home is very secure and I felt my dad was safe and well looked after. The team leader was helpful and always got back to me with replies to any queries I had. Gold Care Homes are excellent.
A huge thank you to all members of staff for their hard work and care provided throughout the covid pandemic. My dad's care over the last few months appears to be excellent. I genuinely cannot praise the carers enough, their patience, kindness and affection is exemplary. The home is well run, spotlessly clean and always welcoming. My dad is happy and content, whilst receiving the best care possible. Thank you all!
My mum went to Kent House in July 2020. From the manager onwards, the staff have been friendly, caring, sympathetic and flexible. Mum settled well after a slow start, but has suffered a setback since a fall which has undermined her confidence and mobility. Staff have been encouraging and patient. Food is good as is hygiene and suggestions have been taken on board when offered. Response to the Covid pandemic has been thorough such that the number of positive cases has been minimal and all due to outside visits. It's frustrating that visits have been curtailed but safety first is right. Overall, Mum is settled; as a family we are happy with the choice we made for her.
