View Full Details of Dothan HouseMy father has been a resident at Dothan House for 32 months. My father has settled into the home and seems very content and comfortable there. The home is immaculately clean - the communal areas and the individual bedrooms are well presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming to the residents and visitors. They treat the residents with dignity, care and compassion. The residents are well fed, plentiful food and meal choices. My father had to go to a 'nursing home for rehabilitation - the differences between that home and Dothan House were night and day - it highlighted the work and effort of the Dothan House staff that makes Dothan House a 'home from home' - we couldn't wait for my father to leave the nursing home to return to Dothan House and be looked after and receive the care we would want for him.
My husband has been a resident for 2 yrs and 7 months and in that time I have visited several times a week - his room is always exceptionally clean and very well presented. The communal areas are also very clean. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very caring - they very much have the opinion that the residents are 'family' and treat them so. This also extend to myself, as a visitor, they make feel welcome, they enable to have time with my husband. Refreshments are always offered and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The residents have a choice of meals and they are freshly prepared and look appetising. The management team are also very friendly, they are efficient and make sure I am always kept up to speed as to how my husband is faring. My husband has settled in well and seems very happy and content there - which is further testament to the staff at Dothan House.
My mum has been a resident for 14 years now, it was a very difficult decision to have to choose a residential home when she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. I chose Dothan because it had a more homely feel to it compared to some others my decision has proved correct as I have never felt the need to complain about any aspect of her care. I visit weekly and she is always clean and well dressed and hair done. All staff have a smile for you when visiting and tea is always available, little touches make all the difference knowing she is safe and well cared for. I would definitely recommend and reassure anyone in my position, that you could not make a better choice for your loved one.
Dothan house very good always clean and staff are very helpful, they care for my mum and they take very good care of her. Always ready to answer any questions that are asked and keep me well informed of what's happening. Just like to say many thanks for the care they give to my mum.
My mother has been residing at Dothan House for a long period of time. The care and respect and show of love that all the staff show is outstanding and fills me with comfort knowing the level of care that my mother is given. The house is spotlessly clean, and mother is always clean and tidy. My family are always made to feel welcome by the staff who all seem to be extremely caring. I am always telling my family and friends how lucky we are to have mum at Dothan House, all the staff are amazing.
My mum has been at Dothan House for about 2 years now. We find the staff considerate, friendly, caring and helpful and seem to put resident care as the highest priority. The home itself is clean, welcoming and well-maintained, and the home managers are helpful and responsive.
Excellent care as always, and very friendly and helpful staff. Our dad is in good spirits since being at Dothan House and looking a lot better. We are always kept informed regarding Dad's health and appointments, which gives us peace of mind.
Mum was admitted to Dothanhouse in January 2021 after living on her own for years. The decline in her mental health meant she could no longer look after herself anymore. Being at Dothanhouse has made a huge improvement in her quality of life. This in my opinion has been through the hard work and dedication of all the staff who are friendly and approachable. My mum lights up whenever a member of staff walks into the room, she smiles and laughs and has friends and people to talk to. I feel that she is in safe hands and well cared for.
My husband has been a resident for ten years, before that, he was in daycare. I find the staff to be very caring, friendly and loving to the residents. Though the care home is not the poshest home, it is very clean. I used to visit every day, and they were always very patient and made sure all the residents had their food. If they were asleep, they didn’t wake them but made sure they had their meal when they woke up. I have also known of them going and getting something they liked, like a favourite yoghurt flavour. I don’t visit so much now, as my husband doesn’t know me, but they get him up as they don’t like to leave them in their rooms alone. I recommend this home, and I have many times to people. A lot of the staff have been working there for a long time.
My mum was already in full-time care, but due to several hospital stays in a short period of time; the manager decided that they could no longer meet her needs therefore a new care home was required. Mum was admitted to Dothan House in the beginning of November 2023. The difference in her general demeanour and how she looks is night and day compared to where she was before. The staff at Dothan House get Mum out of bed everyday, help get her washed and dressed and most importantly take her downstairs with other residents (she used to spend all day in her room and in her pyjamas). The staff are very caring towards my mum and she responds to them too which is lovely to see. She eats and drinks well and has put on weight since being there. I couldn’t wish for any better place for my mum to spend whatever time she has left at Dothan House.
My dad went into Dothan House in May 2023, after having a fall at home which made it impossible for him to return home. His wife became ill herself at the same time, so she couldn’t look after him. The staff and manager of Dothan House have made my dad feel at home and it’s so nice to see him happy and settled in. He as his own room, which is a good size and he can start adding some of his personal items to make it feel more homely for him. The staff are caring and always greet you with a friendly welcome and update us on how Dad's doing.
My mother is always treated with care, kindness and respect. She is kept clean and well-presented. The staff are very attentive and thoughtful whenever I visit and I am always made to feel at ease. I am always telling friends and family how lucky we are to have Mum at Dothan House, the staff are amazing.
My mum has been very well looked after by all the staff at Dothan House. When my mum has visitors, they are very well treated and the staff take time to speak to them about Mum. The care home is always clean and well looked after. staff always keep in contact regarding my mum. Me and my family are very happy that my mum is there.
The home was recommended to me and we are very pleased with the service being provided. There have been some items lost which has been disappointing but overall we are happy with the care being provided.
I cannot praise Dothan House enough because of the extraordinary care they have given my mother. When my mother arrived there eight months ago she was in a very poor state both emotionally and physically. She had problems with her personal hygiene which was sorted out within a week or so. My mother's mental health was so poor because of stress and anxiety, this took several months to solve but with gentle care and immense patience the staff have changed my mother into a very restful and sensitive person. Along with this my mother now looks ten years younger and an absolute joy to visit. The whole team, from the management, the care team and domestic staff, are always friendly with big smiles on their faces and my mother says how much she loves them all. Finding this place was the best thing we could have done for our mother.
Staff are very kind and sweet to the residents. They really care and make the residents feel at home. Communication with the care home is always clear and helpful. My dad seems happy there and the community are nice.
My mum went into Dothan House five months ago, after a stay in hospital and was in a poorly state. With the care, patience and encouragement of the staff, her general condition has improved greatly. When I visit I am always warmly welcomed by all the staff. The Covid rules are upheld, which is reassuring. Mum is kept clean and nicely dressed and her room is always tidy and very clean. She enjoys singing along to the music afternoons and when there's a birthday celebration. I feel my mum is treated with respect and much kindness.
I visit my dad most weeks and find the staff always caring and considerate. The facilities are good the lounges have tv and music playing. My dad's room is a nice size and the home always has events lined up for the residents to celebrate birthdays and special days on the calendar.
My Dad was a resident at Dothan House for 10 years the longest residing resident until he passed away in March 2018, when myself and my husband first brought Dad to Dothan house we didn't know what to expect but after being shown around we were reassured throughout his time there he was cared for with respect and dignity always smartly dressed and clean they also had many activities for all the residents even taking them out on trips we would like to thank all the staff and management for caring for Dad
When my mother's dementia reached the point that she needed continuous support Dothan House was recommended to us as the place where she would receive the best care and attention for as long as it would be needed. This was a very difficult decision for us but from the moment we visited Dothan House we were absolutely sure it would be perfect for her. The staff are fantastic! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they all clearly love what they do for people who need round-the-clock help every day. All residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect and are looked after with great compassion. The ever smiling staff know everyone's likes and dislikes and make sure that residents every need is met, whatever that may be! In addition, there are always plenty activities going on to interest residents and make sure they are both stimulated and entertained. Sadly my mother passed away recently but we will be forever grateful to the staff of Dothan House for everything they did for her.
