My father was a resident of the Summers for only a short time but during his stay he was treated with dignity & respect by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for my father & my family whenever we went to visit. I only have positive things to say about the staff, their professionalism, empathy & genuine care they showed my father. I will never forget how my father & I were treated. Thank you to all the staff!
I'm So pleased with The Summers, my mum's been here for two years and her health has continued to stay stable while she's been here. She was ill just before Christmas and if it wasn't down to the staff at The Summers, the manager and the carers, Mum's infected gallbladder would've gone unnoticed by the GP, but they were so insistent on getting her seen and even called an ambulance when the GP said she was fine and just a sickness bug. It really is like one big family and they look after Mum really well, it's taken away so much stress knowing she's safe and cared for.
Mummy entered The Summers after a long spell in hospital and it was like a breath of fresh air. She was welcomed to 'the family' and treated with love, care and respect during her short time there. Unfortunately, she died after only two months but the care and love was unfailing and I am so happy that she could be safe during her last weeks. Thank you to all the staff for everything.
My nanny has been at The Summers from August this year, she is happy, stimulated and very well taken care of. She was in a home before and we see a very different Nan now, all for the better. Her room is amazing and they all can't do enough for her and us as a family. The manager is absolutely lovely, my nan adores her, nothing is too much trouble, real hands-on, such a different experience from the last home.
My mother-in-law has been at The Summers since December 2022, I have always found her happy, clean and well cared for whenever I go and visit her, she enjoys sitting on the balcony in the summer months and she also loves her meal times. They recently got a new activity coordinator and she's really enjoying doing group activities in the afternoons, the staff are amazing and all so helpful and caring, we couldn't be happier with Mum being at The Summers. And the transition of the new staff member being the manager has been seamless and she's doing a great job.
My Father has been at The Summers for just over a year and we are all very happy with the care he receives. The staff are amazing and will always go above and beyond to ensure that Residents are fulfilling their full potential when it comes to the care package and activities in place. The interaction he receives from the carers and other Residents makes him feel important and valued. The home ensures he retains his dignity. I would highly recommend The Summers.
My husband has been in The Summers for nearly a year, and he is very happy there, and the staff like him. His behaviour was challenging at first, but they soon worked out strategies to cope with him. All the staff are very caring and kind to him and me, and the reception staff and managers are always available and helpful. The activities coordinator works hard to keep the residents occupied during the day with a weekly timetable of activities on display. My dog is allowed to visit The Summers, both staff and residents enjoy seeing her, and I take my husband out 2-3 times a week for a walk. Birthdays or Christmas can be celebrated with your family in one of their lounges. Nothing is too much trouble.
I would like to thank The Summers for looking after my mum so well she has always been really happy here and the staff do a fantastic job. Activities, food, drink, and staff care are excellent. I could not wish for Mum to be in a better place.
My uncle has been at The Summers for around ten years. The staff are amazing, friendly and kind. They are always there to assist and are always very polite and kind. The home is clean and tidy and welcoming. They have a lot of fun activities for the residents that are able to participate, they also do exercises. They have a family group page for family members to see photos of their loved ones doing some of the activities. And in the warmer weather, the garden is used a lot. My uncle is very happy at The Summers care home.
I have visited my friend 5 or 6 times now. I have been made welcome by the staff and whenever they have called into his room they have been extremely helpful. My friend's state is physically challenging and I respect the staff for how they respond to this. I wish there were more activities for him to join and more therapy for him but I understand there are not enough staff. I do think more effort could have been made to get him a wheelchair which would have enabled him to move around. It was not until we employed our own physical that he was hoisted onto a chair until then he was bedridden.
I visit my brother on a regular weekly visit. He is looked after really well. He is now in bed all the time but the carers look after him, feed him etc. He is happy there and has lived there for 6 years with Alzheimer's. I am made very welcome and can visit or call the care home anytime night or day. When he was capable he joined in with the activities and watched movies in the cinema room.
Everyone is very helpful and caring, comfortable, friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents are really looked after well and have good relationships with the carers etc.
My Mum was here until she passed away in November 2022. The staff are wonderful and did everything possible to look after our Mum whilst she was in their care. We felt they genuinely knew her, and what she wanted at any time and made efforts to always connect my sister and me when we called to speak to Mum using the portal.
My mother has been a resident for six years and she feels safe and looked after well. They try to please residents with a choice of food that they prefer and encourage them to join in exercises and games. They also organise outings and bring entertainment to them. They also hold parties a few times a year for residents and their families. You are also able to contact anytime by phone to check up on your loved ones.
Although my Dad is the only Arabic that didn't make me feel like he's a stranger. Good care for his health and for his personal life. Religion too, for example, they decorated the room in Eid and most importantly they answer my calls and if they are busy, they would call me back. We all feel like a family now in the care home. Thank you.
Couldn’t ask for a better home for my mum! I think the world of all the staff that work there! They have made such a hard part of my and my family’s life that bit easier. Even during Covid, they have done their best to make everyone still feel connected!
The Summers continues to be a wonderful care home for my mother, who has been a resident for almost 6-years now. The manager is inspirational in her efforts to make life happy for her residents, and along with her team of carers The Summers feels like home, rather than "a home". During the pandemic, The Summers have kept us in close touch with Mum using technology, striving to ease the stress of separation as much as possible. They have been inventive in keeping Mum entertained and stimulated during this difficult time. I cannot recommend them highly enough and thank them for all the love and care they give to my mum.
Almost a year to this date, the family faced a dilemma. Our aunty, facing health issues, could no longer live without 24/7 attention. At the same time she was not prepared to put aside her independency. The Summers came to our rescue. Our family member is well looked after, cared for, is eating better, has a comfortable place to live with daily activities and friendly people around her. This year was very challenging but it just showed the strength, determination, professionalism, level of responsibility, dedication, care and love members of staff have towards the people under their wings. I say wings because personally I see them as angels.
My mother has been in residence in The Summers for over five years, my sister and I have been so thankful for all the love, care and attention for Mum. At times the care has been exceptional, the care home manager has been wonderful with my mum and all the staff are so loving and caring. There is a great deal of laughter in the home and it is always a joy to visit Mum. Over the years Mum has been on the many visits to the coast, the local garden centres for lunches, and a wonderful Christmas lunch outing each year. Also, lovely BBQ's in the summer and Christmas parties are so beautifully organised! My sister and I cannot thank the care home enough, in particular the manager for her constant attention to Mum's needs and her love she has shown over the years. It has so helped us adjust to Mum's dementia and the changes we have seen in her life. As Mum is now reaching the end of her life we are so thankful for all the love, care and kindness shown to her over the years.
For me and my family, The Summers is just great, my mum is now staying there and just loves it. When other care homes were not interested, they were very helpful in organising the necessary opportunity for my mum to try their home, bearing in mind she had not settled anywhere else because of her mental health. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at the home because my mum is now a different woman, I have not seen her like this for over twenty years! This is all down to the great effort and detail that benefits the people that stay there. I just cannot thank them enough, especially in such challenging times. Keep up the good work; it's very much appreciated.
