View Full Details of The Spinney Care HomeMum has been a resident for over four years now and we know she is in safe hands. The staff all take her welfare seriously and are very kind in their dealings with her, the other residents and visitors. Mum is a great one for misplacing her belongings, such as glasses, necklaces and gloves/hats and many such items have not been found, but this must be a challenge in a care home where most residents have memory issues. The activities on offer for the residents are great with plenty of variety and something for everyone. Mum's physical health has improved over the time she has been a resident, which we attribute to the care, the food, the weekly schedule of entertainment and the company. I would not have my Mum live anywhere else.
The Spinney Care Home in Chingford is an amazing place. My mother has been a resident now for two years and the care and attention she receives is unquestionable. They have been there for us from day one when we most needed help as a family. The management and staff are always approachable and helpful and clearly care for my mother.
My mum has been a resident of The Spinney for over 2 years. The home is well run by a team of caring and approachable, professional people who have shown that they clearly take my mum's welfare seriously and provide the best care for her. I can't recommend The Spinney highly enough.
I couldn't have hoped for a better home for my sister than The Spinney. Not only are all the staff open and caring but they go the extra mile to tailor care for her needs. The management fosters a happy atmosphere for residents and staff and values everyone. The kitchen staff and maintenance team are also amazing. Truly an outstanding care home.
I have found the Spinney a very good home, with a very professional team not just looking after the residents, but really caring for them and their well being. The home provides a complete variety of activities that are well received by the residents. Well done.
The Spinney is a lovely care home with great staff who are kind and caring. They treat residents and guests with respect and the home has a friendly, pleasant atmosphere. The entertainment for residents is very good with regular activities and lots of visits from third parties such as singers and schools.
My mother's dementia progressed and (even with a substantial package of care), she was no longer safe to stay in her own home of 50 years. Through my work, I visit all the care homes locally and further afield. My one and only and number one choice was The Spinney. I thanked my lucky stars when a room became available and my mother has now been a resident since January 2024. They provide true person-centred care to my mum. All the staff are the kindest, most upbeat, professional people I could ever wish to meet. Before moving to The Spinney my mother existed with dementia and now she is living with dementia. The Spinney's activities programme is exceptional. Furthermore, the location is perfect. So close to Station and Station Road High Street and it's now Spring and the location overlooking the golf course and forest is a little slice of heaven.
The location is peaceful & quiet being opposite a golf course & a forest with only very limited neighbour traffic. The building is modern well maintained & spotlessly clean. The staff are delightful, friendly & professional. No temporary staff. The activities are first-class & imaginative. Also, several interesting varied excursions are made each week out of the home to maintain interest & avoid “cabin fever”. Food is tasty healthy & varied. A very positive & happy ambience radiates from the Spinney. Thank you from a grateful son.
My mother has been a resident since June 2023 and the staff are constantly working to ensure that the residents have everything they need to make their life in The Spinney Care Home a real home. The activities each week are varied and when there is any "special" date (birthdays, bank holidays etc.) the building and public areas are decorated appropriately, with activities and parties to match; friends and family are actively encouraged to come and join in. My mother particularly enjoyed the Christmas party; a glass of "bubbles" and the singer that was booked was superb, mixing songs from residents' youth with some more popular songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The afternoon tea laid on by the chef was properly celebratory - poached salmon and homemade sausage rolls were outstanding. On Christmas Eve, all the residents received a present from Santa and many of the staff gave personal cards out too. This is the most relaxed I have seen Mum for a long time.
My godmother was reluctant to leave her lifelong home but has been very happy at The Spinney. She has been well cared for by staff, made friends with other residents and enjoyed the activities and visits. She especially loves the garden and being able to watch the wildlife from her window. It's lovely that there is a hair salon onsite and the weekly GP visits are very reassuring.
Every thing about The Spinney is wonderful. They have had such a lovely December. Christmas Carols, making decorations, a choir of school children and even real reindeers coming to visit. All the staff seem happy to be working there. My mum seems ten years younger since she has been living there.
Nothing is too much trouble from the staff and carers at The Spinney. As soon as you walk in and sign in there's always a warm welcome in the foyer and staff are aware where your relative is in the home. They provide activities, entertainers and outings on their daily routine. They go out of their way to to fulfil resident special requests whether it's an outing or doing something in the home.
My aunt is eating, drinking and walking so much better. She has a bath and is encouraged to join in activities and make friends. She has been taken out on visits and is enjoying her life here.
Our review doesn’t just cover August 2023, it starts from May 2023, and is going on to this date. From being put in a situation regarding my health, where that caring for Mum now is too much of a struggle and being strongly recommended The Spinney by my cousin whose mother-in-law was in here for I think about 5 and a half to nearly 6 years or thereabouts but sadly who has recently passed away, she suggested we go and have a look, we were always apprehensive thinking about this type of environment, but I must say from our first initial visit, and Mum actually becoming a resident I have found the staff always helpful friendly, on hand, and are a pleasure to deal with, and although Mum is quite a private person and tends to like to be on her own a lot of the time I would like to say she is being made welcome and encouraged to join in but not in a forceful way. Many thanks to The Spinney and the team. Regards and best wishes.
I have only ever seen respect and kindness shown in this wonderful home for my mother-in-law led by a management team who I and our extended family have absolute faith in. It gives us such comfort to know that she really does have the best care possible.
My mother looks healthier now she is in The Spinney Care Home and loves all the staff. She also feels cared for and has more social life and activities than she had before, including days out. She loves the ground floor layout and the garden. There are lots of little details in the home that make it a nice place to live. The staff seem to be genuinely nice and kind and patient even when bombarded by lots of people with dementia at once. My mum does complain sometimes but these complaints are about things that would happen with anyone with dementia such as the loss of freedom and the false belief that she is perfectly capable of washing her clothes and does not need someone doing it for her. But she does not want to live anywhere else and feels safe at the Spinney.
From the time my mum moved into The Spinney, we have been so happy with her care. It is a huge weight off of our shoulders, knowing how well she has been looked after and loved. Her needs are always met with dignity and careful consideration and as her journey with dementia has progressed, we couldn't ask for anything more than the individual care and understanding of the staff. We will be forever grateful.
We have always found the staff to be kind, thoughtful and caring towards our mum. Her room is warm and clean and she seems happy with the food. We get a weekly notice on activities and Mum occasionally goes to these I understand. Having her hair done makes Mum feel good, so it is great she can have this done occasionally. The only frustration we have had has been with the finance department when we were told we had not paid for a period of time when we had done so, it turned out that they sent the email to the wrong person! This was nothing to do with the every day running of The Spinney and the care that Mum receives, however.
My mother-in-law became very poorly. The Spinney Care Home reacted very quickly and we were informed just as quickly. She has since returned from the hospital and the care she is getting is above and beyond. Thank you to all the staff at The Spinney.
Fantastic home for my Great Aunt who has complete mental capabilities but needs the extra physical assistance. The home really focuses on the individual residents needs including, everything from physical to social needs the variety of activities and food menus is very extensive and varied. My aunt wanted to go into a home but was nervous initially understandably, within days she had completely settled in and very happy and this was due to the care home fully addressing any concerns my Great Aunt had. I visit the home regularly and am always welcomed and my Aunt is always very happy. Would thoroughly recommend this home. We looked at others homes locally who were also good. We agreed on The Spinney Care Home and are very happy with the decision and overall my Great Aunt is extremely happy there.
