View Full Details of Viera Gray HouseOur experience of Viera Gray is overwhelmingly positive. When Mum moved in last autumn after a debilitating stay in hospital, she was warmly welcomed and received excellent care. It was a pleasure to see her recover so quickly and settle in so well. The team never fails to demonstrate kindness, respect, and professionalism in all their dealings with residents and with us. Viera Gray is Mum's home now, and she is thriving there.
All staff at Viera Gray were excellent, friendly, polite and generally very efficient. The home has had a major refurbishment and my mother was the first occupant of the corridor she was on. Obviously, it was better as more residents arrived and the atmosphere will be enhanced as the home builds up its resident numbers. Senior staff are very motivated and responsive to suggestions from residents and their families and friends.
My mum has settled in very quickly at Viera Gray. She feels looked after and safe. The food is a high point! As a visitor, I can come and go as I please and am always offered tea or coffee. The staff are busy but always friendly. The rooms are warm, clean and comfortable. Altogether, it has been a fantastic experience for Mum and her family.
My wife has Alzheimer's. She entered Viera Gray at the very end of October; I could no longer keep her safe at our home. It is our first experience of a Care Home. She seemed very contented there; whereas with me she was often agitated. She likes the staff and they seem to like her. She is well fed; if anything she eats rather too well! It is a calm and well-run environment. It attracts positive feedback from the larger community; I can see why.
My late father came to the Viera Gray in May 2024 after a short spell at a different home where he was not well cared for. The contrast with his arrival at the Viera Gray could not have been greater. He had a light, newly decorated room in a part of the home with individuals with similar care needs. My father thought he had arrived at a rather good hotel. All staff were exceptionally caring and clearly saw my father as an individual and made strong efforts to understand his preferences and needs. The Deputy Manager was particularly attentive in ensuring that my father's personal care (eg a fresh wet shave on arrival) was attended to. The home was always very clean, bright, fresh-smelling and comfortable. My father particularly enjoyed the sunroom leading out to the courtyard garden and big fishpond (his sight was poor but he could see the big golden fish). In his last five days, the staff were so gentle and kind, enabling him to die in familiar surroundings. Thank you.
I am writing to say a very big thank you to you and all the staff at Viera Gray House for the care and attention you are giving and have given to my friend. Since he joined you it has made such a difference to his quality of life being looked after as he was not able to look after himself whilst living in his flat. I expect he already thanks you but I just wanted to express my gratitude as well.
My mother moved permanently into Viera Gray after a fall which meant she was in hospital and unable to return home. She was due to move into Viera Gray in August but the management was very helpful in ensuring she was able to leave the hospital as soon as possible and move in earlier than expected. She had previously had several visits for respite weeks and the staff remembered her and are always kind and welcoming. Consequently Mum has settled well. The management are very approachable and willing to meet to deal with any issues that may arise. They took a lot of time to help us choose a room with a good view of the beautiful garden which residents can use. They also have been supportive in enabling Mum to continue to attend her activities outside the home. The rooms and communal areas are newly decorated and well-maintained. The residents are able to live in pleasant surroundings both inside and out. Viera Gray is expensive but so are other homes nearby.
My uncle moved to Viera Gray in June 2024. Previously he had a very long stay in hospital (12 weeks) which left him very frail and hardly able to do anything for himself. I was so worried as he is 93. Then he moved to Viera Gray. I can only say how thankful I am for this. They are the most wonderful team of people I have ever known. Within days of my uncle arriving, they had transformed him back into the uncle I know. He was eating and putting on weight, and he was up and mobile again( which I never thought I'd see again) he is happy and looks amazing! Viera Gray is an outstanding home beautifully decorated and furnished. Residents' rooms are lovely and bright. It is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. I cannot fault it. But overall it is run by a wonderful caring team of people who make me feel very welcome when I visit. They look after my uncle with great care and compassion. A very dedicated team. Nothing is too much trouble and they keep me updated. Thank you Viera Gray.
Since my friend has been in the care home she has been well looked after, especially in the past few months under new supervision.
My dad has lived at Viera Gray House since August 2021, he's got advanced dementia and he'll be 92 this month. He can't say much about what he thinks because of his condition but I know he feels at home. And I'm sure Dad feels at home because staff are very kind and respectful, and staff who have worked there for a while show him they care about him. Dad's senior carers know him well, they look after his health and his welfare, they tell me the important things and they help me keep in touch with him. I really appreciate all of this! Viera Gray suffers from the problem across the care sector, a lack of permanent staff, so I often see agency workers who don't know Dad or me. I'm glad Greensleeves Care put their pay up last year because care staff need more reward for the important jobs they do. One suggestion - I'd like activities to be more varied and tailored to individuals, for example Dad likes going for walks but staff have never done that with him which is a shame.
A great experience all the staff are friendly and caring. The residence itself is very clean and well cared for. If I had to be in a care home I would be happy to go there. Any time I need anything for my mum, staff were willing to help straight away.
My mother has been very well looked after at Viera Gray House. Although she can be difficult at times the staff are very caring and patient. The facilities are comfortable and well-maintained. There have been steps taken recently to ensure that essential maintenance and upgrading are in hand. Medical assistance has been required at times and this has been made available promptly.
Very pleasant home, nice and bright and airy. Lovely staff to help her.
We needed respite care for our mum who has dementia. It was our first experience of using a care home and we were obviously anxious that everything went well. We were absolutely delighted with the efficient, calm and caring service Mum received. She became more communicative than she had been at home and the activities had a hugely beneficial effect on her interest in the world around her. A good selection of things to do in the morning, food she enjoyed and a more restful afternoon made for a great routine that kept her happy and feeling safe. Communal spaces were bright and welcoming, Mum especially enjoyed the gardens. We hadn't remembered to bring things to brighten her room but the staff were so helpful, lending us a virtual assistant and a television for the duration. It is difficult to address the costs as care homes are expensive but we felt that in comparison to other homes in our area, Viera Gray House offered excellent value. We felt no anxiety regarding Mum's well being or safety.
The provision of certain types of assistance would be helpful e.g. Chiropodist, physiotherapy, on a regular basis. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The home is situated in lovely surroundings. It would be beneficial if more senior school students came to read poetry to the residents on a one-to-one basis.
This is a very nice caring home where the elderly are treated as friends and family are never talked down to.
Very friendly and helpful staff. A beautiful surrounding with many special events organised. A challenging job for all the staff who cope extremely well. My husband who has early-stage Alzheimer’s is happy and now treats Viera Gray House as his own home.
I am extremely happy with the care my mother, aged 96 receives from the manager and her staff. We can relax knowing that mother is well looked after and her needs met. Like any 96 year old, these needs increase as the years go by. During the dark days of Covid, the team took all the necessary action - and went beyond in caring for their many residents and it is to their credit that the overall detrimental effect on health was minimal. The CQC report stated no deaths.
My Mother has been a resident of Viera Grey for the last 6 years and over the last 24 months (during the pandemic), has been in and out of hospital with numerous ailments. I have nothing but praise for the way my mother has been treated, by both the hospital and the care home and the welcome she receives when returning from hospital. Covid protocols have been followed throughout the pandemic and this gives relatives and friends of residents a lot of reassurance. All the management and staff are friendly and reliable and can be contacted at any time. They are quick to inform me of any issues that arise that may affect directly or indirectly, my Mother and I would highly recommend the home. .
I have found the staff to be very kind and considerate with my mum's deteriorating health needs and allowing her to retain a sense of dignity, that her dementia is taking away. She is now totally reliant on her carers for support and I am so grateful that we have found Viera Gray to look after her. It has been especially difficult for all concerned, navigating covid and lockdowns but it hasn’t affected the quality of care and I’ve felt Mum is in safe hands there.
