View Full Details of Orford House Residential Care HomeMy mum was a resident for 7 years. We couldn't have hoped for her to receive better care ,time and attention from fantastic carers and staff. The home is comfortable,in a fabulous setting and in addition to care provides for a wide range of play and social activities. Often said and quoted ' if only other Care Homes were like this'
Early days for dad at Orford House but I feel confident that he is being well cared for. On visits I have seen that he is being treated with dignity. Great efforts are being made to accommodate Dad's individual needs. Thank you to all staff for the warm welcome our family has received.
Great Open Day at Orford House - really get the impression it's like one big family. The staff always come across as so caring and yet aware when they need to intervene. It's nice to know my mother is in good hands.
My mother has been with Friends of the Elderly for some years and is now very frail. I cannot fault the care she receives. She has needed everything done for her, including feeding, for quite some time. I am impressed with the presentation of her food and the time taken to ensure she eats all she needs. Although Mum enjoys her own company, attention is paid to giving her stimulation. The surroundings always appear clean and tidy. During Covid, so much attention seems to have been paid to the safety of the group of residents, and agile thinking, such as visits through the windows, was welcome. I am so very grateful to all the staff who care so kindly.
Following a couple of difficult years, Orford House has been a breath of fresh air! The thoughtfulness and attention to detail are very obvious, and my siblings and I are so relieved to see our mum relaxed, happy and well cared for.
It is difficult to rate all aspects of Orford House accurately due to the exceptional circumstances over the last 2 years, ie. Covid 19. As a family member, I have always had limited access (and, for significant periods, no access at all) within the home. I cannot comment on the food, what the activities are really like (as we still cannot be involved in these or meet the other residents) and how all the carers treat the residents. Most of the carers I have met have seemed fine, (and some excellent) although rather overstretched. The setting of the home is beautiful. Regardless of the effects of the pandemic, my family and I have several significant concerns about how the home has been managed during the last two years (2020-2022). I have made complaints about this. Improvements are definitely needed, notably in safety, overall organisation, communication between staff and with residents' families.
My husband has been in residence for 2 and a half years and has received very sympathetic treatment as his condition has deteriorated. The situation and layout of the premises are very suitable to the gentle atmosphere which pervades.
This home is situated in a fine pastoral setting with extensive accessible grounds. The general facilities, lounges, dining room - are well furnished, comfortable and homely. Nursing and support staff are extremely caring and well trained. Resident's rooms are well furnished, A varied menu with a range of appealing dishes is provided for residents and the individual needs and interests are well provided for. To sum up, Woodcote Grove House is well managed and welcoming where one's elderly folk are well cared for.
